Springboro's Officer Blue places 1st in state contest category
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A local four-legged police dog recently placed in the top spot in a state contest category.
In the 2025 FUR Responders Challenge, which highlights K-9 officers across the state, Springboro Officer Blue took the top spot in category 3 with 11,763.5 votes. Category 3 participants operate in an area with a population of 15,000 to 29,999.
The Springboro Police Department showed recognition of Officer Blue's placement on social media.
'This is not an easy task because ALL of the Fur-Responders are amazing and worthy of the prize,' said the Springboro Police Department. 'It was a tight race this year, but Officer Blue's fans remained dedicated and voted every single day.'
Miamisburg Police K-9 Bolo received second place in the category with 8,719 votes. Mike Brem, police chief of Miamisburg, provided a statement on the placement. A portion of that statement is below:
'Miamisburg's K-9 'Bolo' achieved second place across the state in category 3,' said Brem. 'MPD is honored to accept this mention across the state, and Bolo says thank you as well!'
Officer Blue won the same category in 2024 with 4,417 votes.
