GER BRENNAN HAS been appointed as the new Dublin senior football manager. The county board confirmed the news today that the All-Ireland winning player will take charge on a three-year term. Abbeydorney go back to back Kerry hurling titles after having waited five decades

AFTER WAITING FIFTY years for a county title before their win last year, Abbeydorney have now gone back to back in the Kerry senior hurling championship. In what is the first county final to be played anywhere in the country, the final was a repeat of last year's, with the black and amber of Abbeydorney facing Ballyduff again. Last year's decider was a 1-17 to 1-10 triumph, and this year's was 0-23 to 0-17 in Austin Stack Park, Tralee. Advertisement Abbeydorney hadn't won the Neilus Flynn Cup since 1974 before their win last year, and had only been to the final day in 2005 in the interim. Meanwhile, Ballyduff were bidding for their 26th title, which would have brought them level at the top of the leaderboard with Kilmoyley. Abbeydorney jumped into an early three point lead before Ballyduff got off thee mark with a Podge Boyle free. But with Oisín Maunsell in accurate form for Abbeydorney, Podge Boyle being the main scoring threat for Ballyduff, the champions brought a 0-13 to 0-8 lead into the break. A Jack Enright point on 41 minutes brought the margin back to two but Abbeydorney had Michael O'Leary to thank for a brilliant display of free-taking as they landed their sixth county title. They will now go on to represent Kerry in the Munster intermediate hurling club championship, against the eventual winners out of Clare, on 2, November. * Check out the latest episode of The42′s GAA Weekly podcast here

Here's The Sunday Game's Football Team of the Year for 2025

NEWLY-CROWNED ALL-IRELAND champions Kerry lead the way with eight representatives on The Sunday Game's Football Team of the Year, including the RTÉ panel's Footballer of the Year, David Clifford. The Kingdom lifted their 39th All-Ireland title after a dominant 1-26 to 0-19 win over Donegal. Runners-up Donegal have four representatives on the team, while semi-finalists Meath and Tyrone and 2024 champions Armagh have one apiece. David Clifford got the Footballer of the Year nod, the Fossa sensation scoring 0-9 (3 2pt scores from play) today to bring his championship tally to 8-62. David Clifford is the #SundayGame Footballer of the Year for 2025 Tomás Ó Sé and the panel explain why the Kerry talisman deserves the honour — The Sunday Game (@TheSundayGame) July 27, 2025 'David Clifford is Footballer of the Year, and there'll be no veering away from that,' Kerry great Tomás Ó Sé said on behalf of The Sunday Game All-Ireland football final panel. 'He's just on a different level from everybody else. 'Early on in the season when things weren't going well, David Clifford was still performing. You even go back to the Meath game, they were destroyed on breaking ball, on kickouts, on hunger, yet when the ball actually got in, he was still doing damage. He was just at it, at the right level, all year long. 'He was the guy that was like The Pied Piper. The Kerry people are too busy taking money in the middle of the summer to be going up to Dublin, they don't travel for quarter-finals. He came out, people do listen to him. He was celebrating, he brought them along with them. He's obviously a leader in the dressing room. 'I think this year will be his third Footballer of the Year, he's really smoked it!' Ó Sé was joined by Mark McHugh, Cora Staunton, Ciarán Whelan, Paul Flynn and Enda McGinley on The Sunday Game panel tonight. Jack O'Connor strongly indicates he will step down from Kerry management

ALL IRELAND WINNING manager, Jack O'Connor, has given a strong indication in his post-match press conference that he will step down as Kerry manager. After securing his fifth All-Ireland as manager, the Dromid Pearses man was questioned as to his future in the role. Advertisement He told a story, 'Well, all I know is I was going out the door Thursday evening with the with the bag and my missus took a picture of me going out the gate. And I already know that'll be up on the wall. That was my last, so I'd say no, she'll be framing that one.' Questioned further if this was him signing off on his third spell in charge of The Kingdom, he hinted that he wanted to have a word with his players before anything was confirmed. O'Connor's agreed term was due to expire after this season anyway. 'Look I think I'm on record, early in the year there, that that it would probably be my last time,' he said. 'I said, you know, so, look…the lads, before I tell anyone else there's a lot more important people down the corridor. Look, we'll do that in due course. There's no hurry.' * Check out the latest episode of The42′s GAA Weekly podcast here
