'For the showpiece, judges… ask them to come up with a five-tier mille-feuille that would not look out of place at the most glamorous of wedding celebrations.' Who are the judges on Bake Off: The Professionals? It will be a pair of familiar faces on judging duty for the 10th series of Bake-Off: The Professionals. Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden are returning to cast an expert eye, and several thousand expert tastebuds, over the contestants' creations. Blin is best known as the Chef Pâtissier at Raymond Blanc's Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons. He said: 'What I've really noticed is that the gap between the strongest and weakest teams has narrowed so much. And when you reach the second or third stage of the competition, you see the teams are all really close together. I think now all the teams really understand what the competition is all about, so they prepare a little better.' Both Blin and Finden have been judges on the show since it began back in 2016 on BBC Two - when it was originally called Bake Off: Crème de la Crème. The duo have judged on all 10 series, including the one airing in 2025. Who are the hosts on Bake Off: The Professionals? Unlike the judges, the hosts of the show have changed a lot of the 10 series so far. Over the years the likes of Tom Kerridge, Angus Deayton and Tom Allen have presented the show. Liam said: 'I feel like the chemistry between myself, Cherish, Benoit, and latterly Ellie, just gets better and better the more time we spend with each other. I also think the challenges have got a lot harder. 'I know that's a bit rich coming from me, who can't do most of the challenges, but they seem to me to have got more difficult as the years have passed. The chefs are using a lot of cool new techniques as well. I think the show has just become a little more slick as time has gone by.'

With her career highlight coming when she landed a role on the Great British Bake Off, Dame Prue has become a familiar face in homes across the nation, thanks to her extensive television work and an array of cookbooks imparting her culinary expertise. She stepped into Dame Mary Berry's shoes on The Great British Bake Off in 2017, coinciding with the show's move from BBC to Channel 4, and has since been a staple on the series, judging alongside Paul Hollywood. Princess Anne to host new festival at Gatcombe with mouth-watering delights
PRINCESS ANNE has allowed a food festival with live demonstrations and more than 50 exhibitors to be held at her country estate in Gloucestershire. Gatcombe Food Festival, which takes place at Gatcombe Park near Minchinhampton on Saturday, July 26 and Sunday, July 27, claims to offer 'a culinary extravaganza' for the whole family. It will feature a Chefs Stage with talent including Ready Steady Cook star Lesley Waters, along with more than 50 food and drink exhibitors from across the region. There will also be crafts from the area and personalised items. A social media page for the festival said the event is being held at the estate 'by kind permission of the Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence'. The festival will host live demonstrations from cooks including master chefs and popular contestants on The Great British Bake Off. With a special focus on the best British produce, attendees can reportedly 'look forward to tantalising their tastebuds with innovative dishes and learning new culinary skills from the best in the business'. Demonstrators include Ms Waters, pasta specialist Carmela Hayes and Michelin-starred Steven Doherty - formerly head chef at Le Gavroche. They also include BBQ Ben, game chef Chris Marney, Dan Wyatt and George McIvor. GBBO contestants Howard Middleton and Karen Wright will also be in attendance. Family entertainment will be on offer, with interactive cooking sessions, the late Queen Elizabeth's Range Rover, drumming from the Gloucester Sea Cadets and fun with the Party Workshops Family Circus. Organiser Ben Bartlett said: 'I am incredibly excited to organise a food festival at such a prestigious venue. 'This festival is a celebration of the finest British food and drink. 'I look forward to bringing together producers, chefs, families and foodies for an unforgettable weekend.' Tickets for the event cost £21.60 per adult and £5.40 per child aged five to 16 online. Children aged between zero and five go free. Tickets for senior citizens and people who are disabled cost £19.44. The 59-year-old has become an international sensation as a judge on the popular TV show since 2010. Over the years Paul has seen numerous bakers and celebrities enter the famous tent. And while plenty of contestants on the show have presented bakes worthy of the Hollywood handshake, there have been plenty of mishaps in the tent. One contestant who won't be remembered for their top culinary creations is comedian Alan Carr. The 48-year-old appeared on the celebrity special in 2018 alongside Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher, fellow comic Aisling Bea, and Paralympian Kadeena Cox. Judges Paul and Prue Leith were left unimpressed when Alan attempted to recreate Zippy, George and Bungle from Rainbow TV. Prue described the cake as 'wonderfully imaginative' but said the 'execution is not exactly professional'. Paul however didn't hold back, commenting: 'You shouldn't really be able to snap a sponge. I've never seen that before.' Alan told listeners he spotted a rainbow cake in the book. He said: 'I was enjoying this until I saw rainbow cake. That's triggering me because I was on Bake Off, do you remember? The celebrity one.' Paul jokingly replied: 'I try to delete that from my mind to be honest.' Alan, laughing, fired back: 'You were so horrible.' He added: 'What people don't know is that they leave the cakes at the back so all of the cast and crew can tuck in, mine was intact.' Paul revealed the GBBO crew tend to tuck in to the savoury bakes left behind more than the sweet treats made by bakers. Alan replied: 'That makes me feel a little bit better. The thing is, when I did it….' Paul responded: 'It was bad' Paul Hollywood joined Bake Off in 2010 Alan joked that he would throw Paul's book 'out of the window'. He added: 'Shut-up will you, please. It works both ways, I got food poisoning.' Paul clapped back that Alan hadn't 'followed the recipes' in his book. Paul took aim at Alan's cooking skills before entering the kitchen, adding: 'You hadn't seen an oven before in your life.' Article continues below Alan joked the bin 'spat out' his cake after it was thrown away. His rainbow cake was one of a series of errors on the show, with Alan's glasses steaming up as he stared into the oven and he struggled to work out the mixer. Former Bond girl Teri won the episode Alan was featured in. Prue said: 'She had the whole package, she was Star Baker by quite a margin.'
