Bengaluru: GITAM(Deemed to be University) hosted its Graduation Ceremony on Sunday on its Bengaluru campus, awarding degrees to 1,310 students across undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. The ceremony marked a decisive moment in the institution's journey to align higher education with real-world applications, ethical leadership, and future-of-work competencies. Dr Seema Chopra, Executive Director and Senior Technical Fellow in Artificial Intelligence at Boeing, addressed the graduating cohort as the chief guest. She underscored the growing role of intelligent systems in shaping the workforce and urged students to anchor their careers in continuous learning, clear thinking, and social accountability. 'Love what you do. Focus on what you don't know and commit to lifelong learning. Solve the right problems, the important ones. Recognition and rewards will follow. Don't underestimate the power of networking. Your friends and peers matter. And no matter how demanding the work becomes, always prioritise your family,' Dr. Chopra said. Prof KNS Acharya, Pro Vice-Chancellor of GITAM Bengaluru, welcomed students and guests. 'At GITAM Bengaluru, we are reimagining education as a platform for relevance, inquiry, and purpose. Our programs are co-designed with industry, our research is anchored in real-world problems, and our students are encouraged to think, build, and act with intent. This ceremony marks not just the end of a course but the beginning of a lifelong responsibility to apply knowledge with integrity, to stay curious, and to make a meaningful difference to the world,' he said. At the GITAM Bengaluru Graduation Ceremony held on 27 July 2025, a total of 1,310 degrees were conferred, including 1,239 undergraduate, 54 postgraduate, and 17 doctoral degrees. Eighteen students were awarded the President's Gold Medal for securing the highest ranks in their respective programs.

Visakhapatnam: A total of 3,513 degrees were conferred upon graduates in the 16th graduation ceremony of GITAM Deemed to be University celebrated here on Saturday. From a wide range of academic disciplines, including engineering, pharmacy, architecture, science, law, humanities, and management, 2,646 undergraduate students, 723 postgraduate students and 144 Ph.D scholars received degree certificates. In recognition of exceptional academic performance and significant contributions to their respective domains, 48 students were awarded gold medals. Senior faculty members Prof. P Bharani Chandra Kumar and P Shanthi Latha received Best Researcher Awards for their outstanding work. Delivering the graduation day address, Bosch Global Software Technologies R&D centre head and vice president Naveed Narayan said the young generation has immense potential to create new business opportunities using Artificial Intelligence (AI). He emphasised that the entire world is now looking towards India for solutions to complex problems, and it is the responsibility of the youth to recognise this and contribute to building a new India. GITAM president and Visakhapatnam Parliament Member M Sribharath reiterated the institution's commitment towards ethics and values, which serve to inspire the younger generation. Appreciating the students for their achievements, he urged them to contribute back to society as they progress in life. While acknowledging concerns about job losses due to AI, he assured that new opportunities would emerge, and advised students to shift their mindset from seeking long-term job security to becoming solution providers and job creators. The institution's Pro Vice-Chancellor Y Gouthama Rao shared insights into its growth. He highlighted the faculty's achievements, stating that they are actively involved in 25 major research projects and have produced 208 patents. The institution's vice-president M Gangadhara Rao, secretary Vice-Chancellor Errol D'Souza, Registrar D Gunasekharan, deans, directors and governing body members participated in the ceremony.

As many as 2,646 undergraduate, 723 postgraduate and 144 Ph.D. scholars received their degrees, while 48 students were awarded gold medals. Senior faculty members Prof. P. Bharani Chandra Kumar and P. Shanthi Latha received the Best Researcher Awards for their outstanding work. Participating in the Graduation Ceremony, Bosch Global Software Technologies' Centre head and vice-president Naveed Narayan said the youth generation has immense potential to create new business ventures using Artificial Intelligence (AI). He spoke about how factors such as demographics, geopolitics, digital commerce, and AI are shaping India's future. GITAM president and Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat said that new opportunities would emerge, and advised students to shift their mindset from seeking term job security to becoming solution providers and job creators. GITAM Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Y. Gouthama Rao said that the university supported 120 student startups through its Venture Development Centre. 'We have seen a good placement success, with around 530 companies visiting the campus and 90% of the students securing jobs,' he said. Participating in the programme, AU Vice-Chancellor G.P. Rajasekhar said infrastructural facilities would contribute immensely to the development of the students.

Visakhapatnam: Honouringover 1,500 students, who secured placements in leading multinational companies (MNCs) and admissions in prestigious universities abroad, GITAM Deemed to be University celebrated 'Achievers Day' as a prelude to the 16th graduation ceremony scheduled on July 26 (Saturday). Students, drawn from diverse disciplines including engineering, pharmacy, science, architecture, law, management, and humanities, celebrated their transition from learners to professionals. GITAM career guidance center director Vamsi Krishna Somayajula highlighted the remarkable placement achievements for the academic year 2024–25. He informed that several corporate giants visited the campus for mass hiring drives and students secured the highest package of Rs.34 LPA and average package of Rs.5 LPA, while a few others bagged international employment-linked opportunities with Porsche,' he shared. AT&T India HR director Lt. Col. Pragathi Kumar Achanta, who attended as chief guest, motivated the young achievers to embrace lifelong learning. The institution's Vice-Chancellor Prof. Errol D'Souza congratulated the students and encouraged them to engage in regular self-assessment. Parents and students actively participated in the event, sharing emotional anecdotes and celebrating their collective journey.

At GITAM convocation, Pad Man urges graduates: Don't chase opportunities, create solutions

HYDERABAD: The 16th graduation ceremony of GITAM (Deemed to be University) was held at its Hyderabad campus on Saturday, where a total of 2,002 students across various disciplines received their degrees. This included 1,638 undergraduates, 264 postgraduates and 100 doctoral scholars. Thirty-two students were awarded gold medals for academic excellence. As part of the convocation, honorary doctorates were conferred on three eminent personalities. Dr B Venkatraman, former Director of the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), received the Honorary Doctor of Science for his pioneering work in nuclear engineering and non-destructive evaluation, which has strengthened India's defence and aerospace capabilities. Arunachalam Muruganantham, the social entrepreneur known for inventing the low-cost sanitary pad-making machine, was awarded the Honorary Doctor of Letters for his transformative impact on menstrual health and rural livelihoods. R Venkateswara Rao, a leader in the infrastructure sector, was also conferred the Honorary Doctor of Letters for his contributions to education and social development. Delivering the convocation address as the chief guest, Dr Kiran Karnik, former president of NASSCOM, stressed the importance of lifelong learning in the age of AI and urged students to remain adaptable, embrace emerging technologies and develop a growth mindset. He said emotional intelligence, including self-awareness, empathy, motivation and relationship management, will be essential for effective leadership in a technology-driven world. GITAM president and Visakhapatnam MP M Sribharat encouraged graduates to stay future-ready by understanding trends and committing to personal and professional growth. Vice-Chancellor Prof Errol D'Souza highlighted the university's focus on translational research and interdisciplinary learning to help students address complex global challenges. Addressing the students, Arunachalam Muruganantham advised them not to chase opportunities but to identify problems and create solutions. He said graduation should not be seen merely as a route to economic freedom but as a means to transform and create wealth. Several graduating students expressed their happiness, saying their years of hard work had finally been recognised by a reputed institution.
