Some dads there are proving to be the king of the kitchen, and if your dad falls into this category, help him turn his meal prep easier with the Oneida Vanguard 13-Piece Cutlery Set (P16,500). It includes all the basics from paring and chef knives to steak knives and shears. The high-carbon stainless steel blades stay sharp, and the hardwood block keeps everything organized. It's lightweight, USB-chargeable, and designed for on-the-go blending anytime, anywhere so he can be concocting sauces, dips, and what-have-you just about anywhere! SharkNinja's pop-up store in Glorietta 1, Makati City, is open daily until October 16. 2. For a malakad Dad: A pair of stylish new shoes A stylish pair of shoes is always a solid gift idea. If your dad loves showing off his 'shoefie' game, head to the nearest Res Toe Run and explore the latest Spring/Summer 2025 collection. With top picks from brands like Tretorn, Tree Runner, and crowd-favorite Birkenstock, there's something to match every style, with prices ranging from P1,490 to P6,000. 3. For a music lover father: speakers sound like a good idea If your dad has a playlist for every mood, he deserves a speaker that can keep up and let the whole household enjoy his mixes. The Bose SoundLink Revolve+ II Bluetooth Speaker is a beautifully engineered portable speaker for any occasion, whether for backyard gatherings, quiet mornings with coffee, or simply for his favorite playlist on repeat in the house. The Bose SoundLink Revolve+ II Bluetooth Speaker (P20,990) is available in Bose stores and online. 4. For the selfie-ready dad: A water flosser If your dad never misses a photo op with his charming smile, why not gift him something to help keep him camera-ready? Unlike traditional floss, a water flosser like the Waterpik Cordless Select WF-10K (P4,650) and Waterpik Express Cordless Water Flosser WF-02 (P3,200) uses a steady stream of water to clean between teeth and along the gum line, reaching areas that may be hard to access using a thread, making your dad's dental care routine a walk in the park. Waterpik is available via Lazada and TikTok. 5. For the scent-sational dad: a new pabango or two! Is your dad the type to make a statement through scent? Gift him a new pabango! The Guess Uomo Intenso (P3,250/50ml). It's a fresh yet warm scent that blends bergamot, mint, and sandalwood – a confident pick for the kind of dad who makes an impression without even trying. Timor-Leste to deport Arnie Teves but lawyer says habeas corpus granted
Timor-Leste will deport former Negros Oriental representative Arnolfo Teves, Jr. as he has been in the country without a valid visa and legal authorization to stay, the government of the southeast Asian nation said on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. In a statement, a spokesman for the Timor-Leste government said the decision would take effect immediately, according to a report on GMA News Online. However, Teves' lawyer, Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, said Timor-Leste's Court of Appeals has granted the former lawmaker's petition for a writ of habeas corpus. He said Timor-Leste authorities have been told to present Teves to the court in 48 hours, the report added. "The Government hereby informs that Arnolfo Teves Jr. will be deported from Timor-Leste by administrative decision of the Ministry of the Interior, as he is in the country without a valid visa, lacking legal authorization to remain, and holding a passport that the Government of the Philippines has cancelled," the statement read. "The decision, which takes effect immediately, is based on national legislation regarding migration and asylum and is grounded in the risks that this citizen's continued presence poses to public order and national security," it added. Teves is the principal accused in the killing of then Negros Oriental governor Roel Degamo in March 2023. He has since applied for asylum in Timor-Leste. Based on the Facebook post of Teves' son Axl early Wednesday, May 28, 2025, the former lawmaker was nabbed by immigration officers in Timor-Leste. Allegedly, no warrant or any other document was shown during the arrest. Based on a report by local media Teves was nabbed and placed under the custody of Timor-Leste immigration police. "His extended stay in Timor-Leste for over two years poses a disruptive factor in bilateral relations between the two States and establishes a serious precedent with potential implications for internal security," the Timor-Leste government said. "The perception that Timor-Leste might be viewed as a refuge for individuals fleeing international justice undermines the integrity of our borders and our shared efforts to combat transnational crime," it added. "The imminent full accession of Timor-Leste to ASEAN, scheduled for October this year, further reinforces the responsibility of the Timorese State to actively collaborate with its regional partners in upholding justice, legality, and stability in the region," the Timor-Leste government said.

Yogis, it's time to level up your athleisure game! Alo Yoga, the cult-favorite activewear brand from the United States, has officially opened its first store in the Philippines, located at Greenbelt 5 in Makati City. At the media launch, Filipina yoga instructor Anna Manalastas and partner yoga coach Eugene Butcher performed a dynamic Acroyoga demonstration: a partner-based practice that blends yoga and acrobatics, similar to the routines previously showcased by celebrity couple Ellen Adarna and Derek Ramsay. It focuses on balance, trust, communication, and core strength. In a GMA News Online interview, Anna explained Acroyoga is a "wonderful, strong practice where a lot of trust has to be established between the two partners." "I think it's very interesting because you have to really listen to your partner," she said. "You have to kind of feel each other and understand what the cues are from the other person so that you can come into a very beautiful harmony [of movement]," she added. Talking about Alo opening its first store in the Philippines, the yoga teacher said it's a wonderful opportunity "for a lot of people to feel included in the global community of health and wellness." Founded in 2007, Alo Yoga is best known for its minimalist designs, performance-ready fabrics, and a strong presence in the global wellness community. At the Makati store, expect to find a wide range of yoga and lifestyle wear, with prices ranging from P3,500 to P10,000. — LA, GMA Integrated News Alo Yoga, 1/F Greenbelt 5 in Makati City.

PAGCOR CEO Tengco, board directors tender courtesy resignations
Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco on Thursday said he and the board of directors had submitted their courtesy resignations. 'I had filed my courtesy resignation together with the entire PAGCOR Board,' Tengco told GMA News Online. 'We all serve at the pleasure of the President,' he said. The resignations came after the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) directed state-run firms' non-ex-officio chairpersons, chief executive officers (CEOs), and all appointive directors/trustees/members of their respective GOCCs' governing boards to immediately submit their courtesy resignations to the President through the Office of the Executive Secretary. President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. had earlier lamented the results of the May 2025 midterm polls —which, according to him, showed that the people were "tired of politics and they are disappointed with the government." Early this month, PAGCOR said it had remitted P12.67 billion in dividends to the Treasury, which represents 75% of its net income for 2024. Last year, the state gaming firm posted a net income of P16.76 billion, up 146% from P6.81 billion in 2023. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
