One UI 8's updated Good Lock module makes home screen customization even more fun
Samsung gave several Good Lock modules a big upgrade with the release of One UI 7 earlier this year. In particular, the revamped Home Up module introduced many unprecedented customization options, including the ability to tweak the damping, stiffness, and friction of home screen animations and wallpaper transitions. With One UI 8, Samsung is making Home Up even better by letting you customize the app startup animation. The Home Up Good Lock module gained extensive animation customization options as part of its One UI 7 revamp, but it still lacked a way to tweak app launch animations. Samsung is fixing this limitation with Home Up's One UI 8 release. But that's not the only highlight of the Good Lock module's v17.0.00.28. It deeply integrates with the One UI Launcher, enabling you to bring up relevant customization options with a long-press on the app icon or home screen (via @tnemoroccan). Further, Samsung is improving the DIY Home Screen feature in Home Up with a new Alignment Guide Lines option. It will help you better align icons, widgets, and stickers for better symmetry. You can also edit grouped items and lock your customized home screen to prevent accidental changes. Plus, it's finally possible to hide page indicators if you are not fond of them. Another notable change: a horizontal scroll mode for the app drawer when you select the Alphabetical order mode. You can find the full release notes for Home Up v17.0.00.28 below. Supported devices: One UI 8 and above DIY Home Screen - Alignment Guide Lines: Guides for aligning items - App Launch Animation Settings: Animations for overlapping items - Item Group Editing: Easy editing with grouping and ungrouping - Item Edit Lock: Prevents accidental changes with a lock feature - Sticker Action Function: App integration and touch animations - Floating Toolbar: Joystick feature for easy home screen editing Home Screen - Page Indicator Hiding: Enables a clean home screen layout - Horizontal Scroll: Supports horizontal scrolling in 'Alphabetical Order' mode - Home Up Quick Access: Pop-up menu on home screen and recent apps Edge Panel - Launch Apps in Selected View Type: Full, split, and pop-up screen types Gesture Settings - App Launch Animation Tuning Supported If you use the Edge panel on your Galaxy phone, the Home Up module can now let you directly open apps from the Edge panel in split screen or pop-up view. Only compatible with One UI 8 Galaxy devices Home Up's One UI 8 update is available for download through the Galaxy Store. In case you don't see the update, sideload the APK from here (via @tarunvats33). Besides the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, the Galaxy S25 series is the only other device to have access to One UI 8, albeit in a beta state. So, if you own another Galaxy device, you'll need to wait for the One UI 8 update to try the new Home Up release, as it's not compatible with One UI 7.

Samsung updates Good Lock modules ahead of One UI 8 rollout
Samsung has begun updating key Good Lock modules ahead of the official One UI 8 release, ensuring a smoother transition for Galaxy device users planning to upgrade to Android 16. In order to have its suite of apps ready for the launch of its new devices this week, Samsung has rolled out updates to four popular Good Lock components: Home Up, MultiStar, NavStar, and QuickStar. All of these now officially support One UI 8 , which comes preloaded with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 and should continue to roll out to older Galaxy devices after that. This follows a similar update to Samsung's Good Guardians suite earlier this month. The updated versions are as follows: Home Up: 17.0.00.28 MultiStar: 10.0.32 NavStar: 8.0.00.4 QuickStar: 9.0.00.01 Good Lock modules receiving an update. | Image credit — PhoneArena These updates are now live in the Galaxy Store. To install them, open the Galaxy Store app, go to Menu > Updates, and tap the "Update all" button in the top right corner. It should be noted that while all four modules are now compatible with One UI 8 , Home Up has received the most notable improvements. In One UI 8 , Samsung has shifted many Home Up customization tools directly into the core home screen settings, allowing users to make changes without needing to dive into the module. Enhanced animation tuning and blur customization are now supported natively, and the new DIY Home feature adds deeper layout control. Multi Star changes for One UI. 8. | Image credit — PhoneArena However, these changes are exclusive to One UI 8 , meaning users on One UI 7 or earlier will not see the new features. As such, those interested in exploring the improvements will need to wait for their device's eligibility in the One UI 8 rollout, which is rumored to begin no secret that Samsung's Good Lock has become a staple among Galaxy power users, offering tools to personalize everything from the status bar and navigation gestures to multitasking behavior and themes. Now, with these new updates, the platform remains tightly integrated with Samsung's software updates. Hopefully, users can expect more modules to be refreshed as we approach the stable release window.

Samsung's eye-catching Theme Park update teaches Apple how to do a glass UI right
Joe Hindy / Android Authority TL;DR Samsung has rolled out a new update for the Theme Park Good Lock module. The update tweaks the UI, adds a new 'Effects' menu, and fixes minor bugs. The Effects menu offers five options to customize the look of your icons. If you're a fan of customization, the Theme Park module in Good Lock can help get your Galaxy phone looking just the way you want it. From changing the colors of keycaps to adjusting the shape of icons, there is no shortage of ways to give your UI a unique look. If that wasn't enough, users are now getting one more way to customize their screen. Samsung has rolled out an update for Theme Park (version 1.1.01.23), which it details on the Galaxy Store page. According to the changelog, this update tweaks the UI, applies minor bug fixes, improves app stability, and fixes a few issues. Most notably, it also adds an 'Effects' menu to the icon pack. In this Effects menu, you get five options that allow you to apply certain effects to your icons. These effects include Basic, Film Grain, Duotone, Glass, and Gradient. While this would be nice all by itself, Samsung took it a step further by giving users the freedom to adjust aspects of the effects. For example, you can change how opaque or transparent you want the very Apple-like Glass effect to be. However, this extra level of customization is only available for the Glass, Film Grain, and Gradient effects. Zac Kew-Denniss / Android Authority This additional customization option works pretty well, with certain styles working better depending on your background. However, we have found that it's not perfect. As you can see in the image above, the effects don't appear to work for the Play Store icon. But that can be fixed with another update. Got a tip?
