Here's how Samsung's Antioxidant Index feature will work with Galaxy Watches (APK teardown)
TL;DR Samsung's upcoming Antioxidant Index feature will let you track your body's beta carotene levels via your Galaxy Watch's sensors. The watch must be removed and pressed against the thumb to perform the measurement, which then syncs with the Samsung Health app on the connected phone. Full compatibility details remain unclear, but you'd likely need One UI 8 Watch and a compatible Galaxy Watch, possibly the upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 series. At the Galaxy S25 series launch, Samsung briefly mentioned an upcoming 'Antioxidant Index' feature for the Samsung Health app, slated to arrive in 2H 2025. This feature will measure the beta carotene in your body and use this information to deliver personalized nutrition advice to ensure you are eating right. Beyond this, the company didn't divulge more details. However, through a One UI 8 Watch leak, we had a fair idea of how the feature could work. Thanks to a new update to the Samsung Health app, we can corroborate how users can measure their beta carotene levels for the Antioxidant Index, and show the guidance pages present within the app. Authority Insights story on Android Authority. An APK teardown helps predict features that may arrive on a service in the future based on work-in-progress code. However, it is possible that such predicted features may not make it to a public release. Samsung Health v6.30.0.109 includes much more detail about how the Antioxidant Index feature would work through a Galaxy Watch, aligning with our previous findings. As you can see, once you have connected your compatible Galaxy Watch to your phone, you can use it to measure your beta carotene levels. However, to do so, you will have to remove the watch from your wrist and hold it so that your thumb presses on the sensors on the back of the watch. Since the display will be facing away from you, you can check the progress of the measurement on your phone. It's still unclear if you need one of the upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 series watches for the feature to work or if older watches like the Galaxy Watch 7 series or even older have the requisite hardware to measure your beta carotene levels. In the infographics, the first watch appears to be a render of the Galaxy Watch 7 series, but the second graphic uses what seems to be a render of the Galaxy Watch 8 for the measurement. Samsung Health also has a lot of good information about the antioxidant index for users interested in learning more about it: Through an earlier leak, we know what the Watch tile for the Antioxidant Index feature would look like: As mentioned earlier, the Antioxidant Index feature is slated for release in the second half of the year. While not confirmed by Samsung, it's fair to presume that you'd need One UI 8 Watch on your Galaxy Watch to activate the functionality, and the latest Samsung Health app, perhaps on One UI 8 on your Galaxy smartphone. Amazon shoppers dub Samsung Galaxy Fit3 'the best smartwatch' amid 31% price slash
Amazon has slashed the price of the Samsung Galaxy Fit3 down to just £41. Not that many years ago, when people spoke about tracking their steps or fitness, the majority of us would assume that this was done through a Fitbit. While still popular today, the device now faces more competition from other brands than it did before. One such competitor is Samsung, who is widely known for its Galaxy Watch range. Within this range are some devices that are fitness-focused, including the Galaxy Fit3 which has been dubbed by some shoppers to be 'far better than Fitbit". Currently, Amazon has slashed the price of the popular Samsung watch down from £59 to only £41. Released back in early 2024, this fitness tracker was designed to compete with devices like Fitbit Inspire in terms of features and capabilities, reports Surrey Live. The Galaxy Fit3 is said to be easy to read and use as it features a 1.6-inch AMOLED display, which allows for easy navigation, as well as an additional side button for extra control. The watch is also equipped with all your essential sensors to help monitor your heart rate, steps and calories burned throughout the day. Along with an impressive 13-day battery life, the watch supports over 100 different activities. From swimming to dancing to running, users will be able to track any sport they like. The device also gets instant notifications, allowing users to check their messages, as well as having the ability to control music. However, on the downside, the Galaxy Fit3 does not come with a built-in GPS chip, meaning users will always need to have their phone on them in order to get precise location tracking. However, it should be noted that it's not unusual for smart watches in this price range to be without a GPS. Samsung Galaxy Fit3 £59 £41 Amazon Buy Now Product Description For those interested in the Fitbit, Amazon is selling the Google Fitbit Charge 6 for £139. Available in white, black or coral, the Fitbit is compatible with both iOS and Android devices, unlike the Fit3 which is catered towards Android users. If shoppers are looking for something more budget friendly, Argos has slightly reduced the price of the HUAWEI Band 9 Smart Watch from £39.99 down to £34.99. With a typical battery life of up to nine days, this lightweight watch is perfect for swimming enthusiasts as it can identify all four strokes. However for those interested in the Samsung Galaxy Fit3, it currently has 4.3 star rating on Amazon, with over 1,000 people purchasing the fitness tracker in the last 30 days. One happy shopper said: "I bought the Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 just a few days ago, and I genuinely haven't taken it off since. Sleek, lightweight, and surprisingly comfortable, this tracker has completely exceeded my expectations — especially at this price point." While another added: "I bought this as my Garmin vivofit 4 had stopped working and wanted something to track my steps and thought the price was reasonable. "I'm so pleased I got this as it does everything I need and more. It was easy to set up, it's comfortable and looks really good on. You can customise your screens and receive phone notifications on it too. I've found the battery lasts about a week too." However, not everyone was as impressed, with one shopper grumbling: "This watch has some cool features like Spotify controls and you can read messages and see notifications like phone calls. "In terms of fitness features, the watch didn't detect when I was working out even though I has the automatic detection setting on. I'd sometimes get notifications that my HR was high during watch really didn't know what I was doing." Another shopper also wrote: "I like this watch but if you use it as a fitness tracker you're lucky to get 5 days out of a charge, I track one weight session and 2 1.5k walks a day and it's run out after 5 days and didn't give a warning of low power." Despite these issues, another reviewer praised: "I had been using Fitbit for years but after the move with Google I wasn't impressed. "My Fitbit charge 4 snapped at the plastic connecting to the strap so was no longer any use. I came across the Galaxy fit 3 and after reading the reviews I decided to give it a try. In my opinion it is far better than Fitbit." With a further shopper saying: "I have brought so many smartwatches but this is the best. Lovely size screen, nice watch strap. It lies flush with your wrist, nice and lightweight to wear. "All apps are easy to follow, great for your steps and sleep record. I bought this from used very good, cannot find anything wrong with it, no scratches or scuffs. Excellent buy." Click HERE to buy the Samsung Galaxy Fit3. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic Leaks You NEED to See Before It's Official!
Samsung is preparing to launch its Galaxy Watch 8 series in the latter half of 2025, introducing two distinct models: the Galaxy Watch 8 and the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. These smartwatches aim to deliver subtle yet meaningful upgrades in areas like battery life, health tracking, and software functionality. While maintaining the design language and usability that fans have come to appreciate, the series also introduces new features that cater to both casual users and tech enthusiasts. Below is a detailed look at what the Galaxy Watch 8 series has to offer. Watch this video on YouTube. Two Models with a Familiar Yet Refined Design The Galaxy Watch 8 series will consist of two models: the standard Galaxy Watch 8 and the premium Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. Certification databases have identified these models under the codes SNL 3550 and SNL50, which likely represent the cellular-enabled versions for the Chinese market. While the overall design remains consistent with previous iterations, the Classic model is expected to feature subtle refinements that enhance its premium aesthetic, such as improved materials and a more polished finish. Samsung's decision to retain its familiar design philosophy reflects its focus on user familiarity and comfort, while the Classic model's enhancements aim to appeal to those seeking a more sophisticated look. This balance between tradition and refinement ensures the Galaxy Watch 8 series remains accessible to a wide audience. Battery Life and Charging Enhancements Battery performance is a critical factor for any wearable device, and Samsung has made incremental improvements in this area with the Galaxy Watch 8 series. The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic will feature a 435 mAh battery, a slight increase from the 425 mAh capacity of its predecessor. While this upgrade may seem modest, it reflects Samsung's commitment to optimizing battery efficiency without compromising the device's sleek and lightweight design. Charging capabilities remain consistent with the previous generation, supporting 10W wireless charging and compatibility with the 5V/2A EPOLF 300 charger. This ensures that users can continue to rely on familiar charging standards, while the improved battery capacity provides a longer-lasting experience for daily use. Comprehensive Connectivity Features The Galaxy Watch 8 series is designed to be a versatile companion, offering a robust suite of connectivity options that enhance its functionality. These include: LTE for independent operation, allowing users to make calls and send messages without a smartphone Bluetooth 5.3 for improved energy efficiency and stable connections GPS for accurate navigation and location tracking NFC for seamless contactless payments Wi-Fi for reliable internet access These features make the Galaxy Watch 8 series a practical and reliable tool for communication, navigation, and everyday convenience, whether you're on the go or staying connected at home. Advanced Health Tracking Capabilities Health monitoring continues to be a cornerstone of Samsung's wearable technology, and the Galaxy Watch 8 series introduces innovative new features in this area. One of the standout additions is the antioxidant index sensor, which measures beta-carotene levels to provide insights into your antioxidant status. This unique metric offers users a new way to assess their overall health and well-being. The data collected by the antioxidant sensor, along with other health metrics, will integrate seamlessly with the Samsung Health app. This centralized platform allows users to track, analyze, and act on their health data, empowering them to make informed decisions about their lifestyle and fitness goals. Samsung's focus on actionable health insights underscores its commitment to improving users' quality of life through technology. One UI 8: A Smarter Software Experience The Galaxy Watch 8 series will debut Samsung's One UI 8 software, which introduces a range of features designed to enhance usability and personalization. Key updates include: A battery protection mode that helps extend the overall lifespan of the device A revamped shortcuts app for quicker access to frequently used functions Randomized watch faces to add variety and personalization The 'Now Bar' interface, which streamlines navigation and improves accessibility These software enhancements aim to make the Galaxy Watch 8 series more intuitive and engaging, catering to both new users and long-time Samsung fans. By focusing on user-friendly features and customization, Samsung ensures that the smartwatch adapts to individual preferences and needs. Launch Timing and Ecosystem Integration Samsung plans to unveil the Galaxy Watch 8 series in July 2025, aligning its release with the next generation of foldable devices. This strategic timing positions the smartwatch as part of Samsung's broader ecosystem, which includes smartphones, tablets, and other connected devices. By integrating the Galaxy Watch 8 series into its ecosystem, Samsung aims to provide users with a seamless and interconnected experience. Although there is no confirmation of a new Watch Ultra model for 2025, the current version, codenamed 'Project X2,' remains a key part of Samsung's lineup. This suggests that the Galaxy Watch 8 series will serve as the flagship wearable for the year, appealing to both tech enthusiasts and loyal Samsung users. A Thoughtful Evolution in Wearable Technology The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic represents a carefully considered evolution of the brand's smartwatch lineup. By introducing incremental upgrades in battery capacity, health tracking, and software functionality, Samsung strikes a balance between innovation and familiarity. Whether you're drawn to its advanced health sensors, robust connectivity options, or refined design, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic offers a compelling package for wearable technology enthusiasts. With its anticipated launch in mid-2025, the Galaxy Watch 8 series is set to play a pivotal role in Samsung's expanding product ecosystem. Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic leaked renders reveal exquisite design
Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic | Image credit: @OnLeaks & SammyGuru A new Classic-branded Samsung smartwatch is expected to be introduced this year after a brief 2-year hiatus. The unannounced Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is supposed to be unveiled in July alongside Samsung's new foldable flagships, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip then, several reports coming from various reliable sources paint a rather exciting picture about the new Galaxy Watch 8 Classic smartwatch. More importantly, a couple of high-resolution renders and a 360-degree video have just popped up online, providing us with a first look at Samsung's upcoming wearable the smartwatch will indeed looks exactly like in these renders, it confirms Samsung has decided to further refine and polish the design that made the Galaxy Watch Classic series so popular among Samsung fans. Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic | Video credit: @OnLeaks & SammyGuru The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic adopts the same ' squircle ' form factor as the Galaxy Watch Ultra, which suggests Samsung plans to elevate the Classic series to an upper tier design-wise. The rotating bezel is making a comeback, as seen in the pictures. So are the back button, which is positioned on the opposite side of a customizable button. An orange crown sits in the middle of the two buttons, giving the smartwatch a bold look. Overall, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic borrows a lot more design perks from the Galaxy Watch Ultra rather than the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, but that's a good thing. Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic | Image credit:@OnLeaks & SammyGuru According to the report, the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic sizes are 'roughly' 46 x 46.5 x 14.2mm. The smartwatch is said to feature a 1.5-inch rounded display. It will be available in two versions (Bluetooth and LTE), but just one size: 47mm. In comparison, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic was available in both 43mm and 47mm sizes. Another difference between the two-year old Galaxy Watch 6 Classic and the upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is the size of the battery. While the former is powered by a 425 mAh battery, the latter will feature a slightly bigger 435 mAh battery. It's unlikely that this will matter that much in the grand scheme of things, but at least it's an upgrade.

Galaxy Watch 8 Classic renders show off its chunky new look
TL;DR Samsung's wearable lineup in 2025 is expected to swap the Ultra out for the return of a Classic model. We've already seen signs that the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic could adopt a boxy, 'squircle' design. Now some early CAD-based renders attempt to show us how this hardware may come together. If history is any indication, we're likely just a couple more months away from Samsung launching its latest generation of smartwatches. While we're expecting this Galaxy Watch 8 series to stick with the same circular displays with which we're familiar, we've already uncovered evidence suggesting that this year's watch bodies, at least, could go in a much more boxy direction, with squared-off bezels like those found on the Watch Ultra. Now a new publication offers an even better preview at how one of those designs might be coming together. This year we've been expecting Samsung to bring back the Classic variant of the Galaxy Watch, featuring that iconic rotating bezel. And now, ahead of any official imagery leaking, or even a couple clandestine spy shots showing up of the watch in testing, we get to check out a whole series of high-quality CAD-based renders. The team over at SammyGuru produced these pics based on some highly specific measurements of watch hardware — think: the kind of data an accessory manufacturer might have access to for designing cases, screen protectors, or bands. But working off of that, and making a few educated guesses, you can put together some very impressive-looking renderings that might not be too far off from the real deal. Just like we saw with our earlier find, Samsung appears to be upgrading the Classic model with a third button, with app code suggesting that this new addition could be the same Quick Button we got to know on the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Regulatory filings have already offered some early insight into Watch 8 hardware, and this Classic model in particular has been associated with a 435mAh battery (450mAh typical) that would be roughly in line with the capacity we had on the larger Watch 6 Classic (though quite a bit below the Watch Ultra's 590mAh). The hardware we're seeing here reportedly has dimensions of right around 46 x 46.5 x 14.2mm — again, more or less the same as the last bigger Classic, though just a smidge thicker this time around. Last month, rumors suggested that Samsung was planning an early July launch event for its next foldable phones. Will that be the same venue that introduces us to the Galaxy Watch 8 lineup? We'll be finding out one way or the other in just a few more weeks. Got a tip? Talk to us! Email our staff at Email our staff at news@ .
