Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic renders leak — here's a first look
Come July, Samsung should have a refreshed set of its Galaxy Watches, which may include the return of the Galaxy Watch Classic that Samsung omitted from last year's lineup. Back in March, model numbers for unreleased Samsung smartwatches were revealed in leaked firmware tests. That leak hinted at either two sizes for the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 or the return of the Classic. Now we have a bit of confirmation thanks to new renders from regular tipster OnLeaks who shared their images with Sammy Guru. Based on previous rumors, the new Classic model could be available in one 47mm size, similar to the Galaxy Watch Ultra. According to SammyGuru, the refreshed Classic could feature a 435 mAh battery and a rotating bezel. The battery is smaller than the one in the Ultra, which may be due to the moving bezel taking up internal space. The images provided by OnLeaks make the new Classic look like a mix of the square-ish Ultra and the rounder, softer Samsung Galaxy Watch 7, otherwise known as the "squircle" shape. The display on the Watch 8 Classic should be 1.5 inches which would be the same size as the Ultra and the larger 44mm Watch 7. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Allegedly, the Classic will be roughly 46 x 46.5 x 14.2mm. It's unclear what this means for the Ultra watch as the model numbers hint at Bluetooth and LTE variants of the Classic unless the Classic is a successor to the Ultra model. It's expected that Samsung will announce its new watches alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 during its summer Galaxy Unpacked event. That launch is rumored to be taking place in early July.

Galaxy Watch 8 series could come with squircle design, Quick Button, and more (APK teardown)
C. Scott Brown / Android Authority TL;DR Through a leaked One UI 8 Watch firmware, we've spotted plenty of new details about Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic. The Galaxy Watch 8 could come in a squircle body in two sizes. The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic could also come in a squircle body, but possibly in a single size, with an unaccented Quick Button, and Galaxy Watch Ultra-like strong vibrations. Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy Watch 8 series alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8, sometime in Q3 2025. Information around the smartwatch's hardware has been surprisingly scarce, and we only know a few bits, like the charging speed. Leaks previously suggested that we could get squircle icons with the upcoming One UI 8 Watch update. However, that doesn't seem to be the only squircle bits coming in the next few months, as the Galaxy Watch 8 and Galaxy Watch 8 Classic could adopt a squircle shape themselves, much like the Galaxy Watch Ultra. The Galaxy Watch 8 Classic could get even more Ultra-like features, like a Quick Button and stronger vibrations. Authority Insights story on Android Authority. An APK teardown helps predict features that may arrive on a service in the future based on work-in-progress code. However, it is possible that such predicted features may not make it to a public release. We've found a couple of things of note in the One UI 8 firmware for the unreleased Galaxy Watch 8 Classic (SM-L505). One of the animation files notes the codenames for the upcoming watches, with 'fresh8' being the Galaxy Watch 8 and 'wise8' being the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic. We haven't been able to spot any codenames for a new Galaxy Watch Ultra so far, with just 'projectx2' referenced for the previously launched Galaxy Watch Ultra. The animation files give us a look at what these devices could look like: From the looks of it, it seems that Samsung could be ditching the circular body shape for the Galaxy Watch 8 series. Instead, the company could adopt a squircle body design while retaining the rounded screen, much like what we see on the current Galaxy Watch Ultra. Further, the Galaxy Watch 8 could retain two buttons on the side. However, Samsung could add a Quick Button to the Galaxy Watch Classic, bringing its button setup closer to the Galaxy Watch Ultra. The animation files don't show an orange highlight for the Watch 8 Classic's Quick Button, while they show it for the Galaxy Watch Ultra. If you look closely, you can also spot subtle differences in the button design across the three wearables and notice the difference in bezel sizes across the three watches. We can't discern from the graphics whether the Watch 8 Classic gets rotating bezels. Here's another intro video from within the firmware, which shows off the squircle design of the Galaxy Watch 8: While these files don't appear to be placeholders, we can't rule that out. Which design would you prefer for the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic? 0 votes Round: Samsung should stick to the current body design of the base Galaxy Watch series. NaN % Squircle: Samsung should adopt the Galaxy Watch Ultra's body design across the lineup. NaN % Other code bits in the firmware corroborate the presence of the Quick Button. In the snippet below, both 'projectx2' and 'wise8' are said to be Quick Button devices. AssembleDebug / Android Authority Coming back to the regular Galaxy Watch 8, we've spotted mentions of two sizes for it: FRESH8_S – SM-L32 FRESH8_L – SM-L33 WISE8 – SM-L50 AssembleDebug / Android Authority Here, S and L likely refer to Small and large, although they don't indicate the exact casing size. For the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic, we couldn't spot sizing information. This doesn't mean that the Watch 8 Classic will come in only one size, though it could be possible. Lastly, we've found code that indicates that the Galaxy Watch 8 Classic could get the extended vibration pattern support just like the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Many people have loved the Galaxy Watch Ultra's stronger vibrations, so this is good news for others looking to upgrade. Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Plans: No Ultra 2 But Classic Returns In 2025?
Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic Some key details about the as yet unannounced Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 series have leaked out thanks to a recent tester firmware release. The latest Samsung firmware release makes reference to model numbers that tally up with expected future Galaxy Watch 8 variants, as posted by theonecid on X. It looks like we'll be seeing three Bluetooth/Wi-Fi only watches, and three with LTE. At present Samsung's line-up consists of 40mm and 44mm diameter Galaxy Watch 7 wearables, with and without 4G/LTE, and the Galaxy Watch Ultra. It has LTE as standard and only comes as a 47mm design. While the model numbers don't tell us a whole load of information, they do suggest whatever higher-end watch Samsung releases this year, it may come in both Wi-Fi only and 4G versions. These are the model names: It seems relatively safe to assume the 300-series watches will make up the standard Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 models, while the 500-series ones are the higher-end alternatives. It doesn't look like this is a new Galaxy Watch Ultra, though, as the current model bears the name L705. This does mean we may see a return of the, in some circles, beloved Galaxy Watch Classic range. The current Galaxy Watch Ultra was the first of its line for Samsung. In the previous generation, the wearables line was split into the standard Galaxy Watch 6 and the Watch 6 Classic. It had a somewhat classier design than the base model, but didn't push for additional hardcore features in the way the Watch Ultra does. One element that's not yet clear: was the Galaxy Watch Ultra actually a big success? Samsung has not revealed sales figures, or intimated how well it sold compared to the standard watch. The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra has a couple of clear routes for future progress, though. First up, the current watch does not have a depth gauge for drivers, seen in the Apple Watch Ultra, and many fans want to see a return of the rotating crown. This used to be a signature of the Galaxy Watch Classic range. So where is the Watch Ultra? It may simply be this is not a range Samsung updates every year. Apple has already normalized this, by not releasing a new Apple Watch Ultra in 2024. The Galaxy Watch 8 range may also be used as the vehicle for another innovation Samsung talked about in January, non-invasive blood glucose monitoring. Samsung announced its progress in this field in January, considered a major long-term goal for wearables. Samsung is expected to announce the Galaxy Watch 8 family later this year, potentially in July.
