Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 launch timeline leaked As early as this summer, Samsung's next generation of foldables will be available. Although we know that's a broad statement, a recent press release from Samsung provides an unambiguous indication. "One UI 8 will debut on Samsung's newest foldables this summer thanks to the mutual partnership between Samsung and Google," the company said. That in and of itself suggests that the next generation of Galaxy foldables, most likely to be called the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, will be available soon. Samsung is doing the unthinkable with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7, but will it matter?
What was only a (pretty outlandish) rumor less than two months ago has just become official in a rather uncharacteristic way for Samsung. The company's next-gen foldable devices will run the next version of the company's Android-based One UI software out the box, thus setting themselves apart (at least at launch) from not just last year's Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 , but this year's entire Galaxy S25 family as well. Will Samsung's new "software evolution rhythm" turn things around for the struggling Z Fold and Z Flip lineups all of a sudden? Are we looking at a one-off here designed to make up for and distract us from the One UI 7 rollout fiasco of the last few months? Is this really that big of a deal in the first place? Let's talk about it... Look, there's no denying that what Samsung is planning to do "this summer" is... notable. Momentous, even. With Google's help, One UI 8 will be ready to rumble (if nothing goes wrong between now and then) roughly nine months after the search giant's Pixel devices received the stable Android 15 update on which One UI 7 was built. The Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 will launch with One UI 8 out the box before the update reaches the S25 family in its stable form. | Image Credit -- Samsung That's an incredibly quick turnaround that has never been seen before (especially at a third-party Android smartphone maker like Samsung), and perhaps most notably, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 are set to ship with One UI 8 before the same goodie pack spreads to the Galaxy S25 series as an over-the-air upgrade. Now, the million-dollar question is what kind of a gap are we looking at here? Specifically, how much time will Samsung need to stabilize and deliver the Android 16-based One UI 8 promotion to the S25, S25 Plus, S25 Ultra, and S25 Edge? If we're talking mere days or even a couple of weeks after the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 go on sale, then I'm sorry, but it's going to be hard to see this as a major selling point for Samsung's next big foldables. Especially if the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6 will receive the update roughly at the same time as the S25 trio quartet. The devil is in the details, my friends, and until Samsung releases more details about its One UI 8 rollout schedule, I'd advise you to view the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 with admiration, but also a healthy degree of caution. After all, there are breakthroughs and breakthroughs in this business, and let's just say this doesn't sound like the most significant one in the recent history of the smartphone market. Okay, that's a little rough. And admittedly unfair. Let me rephrase. Almost no one cares. As in, nearly no living soul currently thinking of getting the Galaxy Z Fold 7 or Z Flip 7 in July will be swayed one way or the other by what OS version the two devices run out the box. A little rough, but (mostly) true. | Image Credit -- Dream Logos Fandom Mind you, I'm not saying all Android users or Samsung fans are oblivious to the software support part of their next phone's value equation. That's definitely important for a lot of some people, but as long as you're promised a swift update to the latest OS iteration after launch and stellar long-term support (which will obviously be the case), I know most of you will be more than happy. I also know that an empty title like the "world's first phones to come with Android 16 " (if that title will go to the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 to begin with) won't seal a $1,100 or $1,900 deal for, well, anyone. Samsung will need to differentiate its 2025 foldables from their 2024 predecessors (and the Galaxy S25 family) in a bunch of other truly remarkable (and useful) ways to catch up to Huawei and keep the likes of Oppo, Vivo, Motorola, and Honor at bay. Pre-loaded One UI 8 software could be the icing on the cake, but it must not be the whole cake or the most delicious part of it. That's where the larger screens, bigger batteries, better cameras, and tougher build should and hopefully will come in.

Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 launch expected in early July, Samsung starts dropping hints
The next-generation Samsung foldables are coming — and they're coming as early as this summer. We know that's a vague statement to make, but a recent statement from a Samsung press note offers a pretty clear hint. The company stated, 'Thanks to the mutual partnership between Samsung and Google, One UI 8 will debut on Samsung's newest foldables this summer.' That alone signals that the upcoming Galaxy foldables — most likely to be named the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 — are expected to launch soon. July is said to be the month Samsung is planning to unveil its latest foldable year, however, it's not just about the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. Alongside these two top-tier devices, Samsung is rumoured to be working on two more foldables. Well, not exactly alongside — similar to how the company teased the Galaxy S25 Edge during the launch of the S25 series at January's Unpacked event, and only recently released the phone. There's a possibility — and take this with a huge grain of salt — that Samsung could tease its first tri-fold phone, allegedly called the Galaxy G Fold, at the event. Additionally, later in the year, around the time when the company usually unveils its Galaxy S Fan Edition phone, rumours suggest that Samsung may also introduce the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE — the first ever Fan Edition coming to expectations. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to be the real showstopper. Leaks point to a lighter chassis, a redesigned hinge to reduce the crease, and an upgraded triple-camera system led by a 200-megapixel primary sensor. Under the hood, the phone is said to run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. But of course, none of this has been officially confirmed by Samsung just yet. The Galaxy Z Flip 7, on the other hand, is expected to get a larger outer screen — possibly around the 4-inch mark — paired with noticeably slimmer bezels both on the outside and inside. Interestingly, the Z Flip 7 could mark a major shift in Samsung's foldables lineup. Rumours suggest that instead of a Snapdragon chip, it might be powered by the in-house Exynos 2500 — Samsung's first smartphone chipset built on its second-generation 3nm process. The chip is said to offer a big leap in performance and power there's the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE. The phone is said to share many internals with the Galaxy Z Flip 6, including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, 12GB of RAM, and a 50-megapixel primary camera. It's also expected to pack a 4,000mAh battery with support for 25W wired and 15W wireless charging. As per reports, the device has already cleared China's 3C certification and could come with a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED inner screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 3.4-inch cover display — the same panel setup as last year's Flip 6.

New Galaxy Z Fold 7 Geekbench leak all but seals the deal – it's Elite and overclocked
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has appeared on Geekbench once again. The listing strengthens the case that we may not see a dual-chip strategy for the Fold, unlike the Flip. Much has leaked about Samsung's yet-announced foldable phones , the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. To the disappointment of a part of the world, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 is said to come with an Exynos chip in some markets and Qualcomm's powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite in others. However, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is almost unanimously rumored to only come with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. And this new leak – the phone's Geekbench result – seemingly confirms it once again, almost to etch it in stone. We've seen a listing previously, but this one gives the single-core and multi-core results the Galaxy Z Fold 7 managed. The listing corroborates earlier rumors that the foldable will come with the special Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. This is an overclocked chip specifically made for Samsung. This is the config appearing in the Geekbench listing. The model here is SM-F966N, which is the Korean variant. The leaked version from earlier was the U.S. version. Now, the Z Fold 7 appears with two major cores clocked at 4.47GHz. This pretty much indicates we are looking at the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, the same chip powering the Galaxy S25 series. These results may not be final. | Image Credit - Android Headlines Before you get confused by the results, though, there's something worth mentioning here. These numbers may not be exact to how the chip actually performs. We are seeing here lower-than-expected results, which indicate that the unit tested may not have been a final product. The phone managed 2,617 in single-core and 9,369 in multi-core, and both are expected to be higher on the final build. The numbers for the final build of the Galaxy Z Fold 7 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy should resemble those of the Galaxy S25 Ultra: Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 may come with a dual-chip strategy, and in some markets, it may come equipped with the Exynos 2500. From all that's rumored thus far, the Exynos chip is expected to be inferior to Qualcomm's processor. So, the good news is that the Fold 7 seems to be slated to sport Qualcomm's chip globally. As for when we're going to see both the Flip and the Fold, the latest rumors are Samsung is planning an 'early July' announcement. Possibly, we'll also see a Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE (or Xe, or Flip FE, however it ends up being named). Also, we may see a glance at the company's first tri-fold phone, reportedly sporting the rather mundane name of Galaxy G Fold (for some reason). The Galaxy Z Fold 7 will face the world's thinnest foldable, Oppo Find N5, the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and potentially an Honor Magic V5 for the title of the best foldable phone. In the meantime, Apple is said to be cooking its own version of a foldable – it's first – but this bad boy is not expected before the end of 2026. Apart from that, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is said to rock a similar design to its predecessor with some refinements. We may see a less prominent display crease, very thin bezels for the folding screen, and a slightly more useful display aspect ratio when folded. Recently, the phone leaked in a real-life image in a folded state, and the slight differences observed in the design indicate Samsung may equip it with a premium titanium backplate (and we also see a possible color it may rock, Icyblue). The foldable is likely to adopt a 200MP main camera, One UI 8 (its beta is now starting ahead of time), and a more modest 4,400mAh battery.
