Galfar lands key Oman road dualisation project
Oman - Galfar, one of the largest engineering, contracting and construction companies in Oman, has announced that it has secured a major construction works contract for Part Four of the Sultan Said bin Taimour Road Dualization Project. The project is being implemented in partnership with Al Omaier Trading and Contracting Company, said Galfar in a statement. This project stands as one of the most important connecting roads between the governorates of Oman, contributing to the strengthening of the logistics sector, and the development of economic and social mobility, it stated. Lauding the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology for the project, Galfar said with this vital project, it looks forward to working closely with all stakeholders to deliver this project as per the planned schedule, contributing to sustainable development and strengthening the national road network. This strategic project aims to complete the dual carriageway from the Wilayat of Adam in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate to the Wilayat of Thumrait in Dhofar Governorate, building on the 317 km already developed to the north. Once completed, the route from Muscat to Dhofar will become the longest dualised road in the sultanate, it added. Galfar Engineering, a multi discipline engineering and construction company, has announced that it has begun work on the Izki-Nizwa road dualisation project in Oman. The project will see expansion of the existing road from Qaroot South Roundabout in Izki, passing through Birkat Al-Maouz, and ending at Farq in Nizwa. The scope of work for Galfar includes construction of 10 new roundabouts and upgradation of two existing ones to improve traffic flow. Additionally, a traffic signal will be installed near the Ministry of Defence building to enhance road safety, it stated. Lauding the government initiative, Galfar said the Izki-Nizwa Road Dualisation Project was aimed at improving connectivity and ensuring smoother traffic flow. "We look forward to joining forces with all parties in Al Dakhiliyah Governorate to ensure the project is completed according to the prepared plan and within the specified timeframe, contributing to achieving sustainable development and enhancing the efficiency of the national road network," said a spokesman for Galfar. Nama Water facilitates 406 new job openings for Omanis
Muscat: In a move to bolster employment, Nama Water Services has announced the creation of 406 permanent positions within its affiliated companies, marking an important step in the second phase of its Omanisation initiative. The effort, facilitated through the Tawteen platform, aims to substantially increase the representation of Omani citizens in the water sector. The current phase offers 406 permanent roles, part of a broader plan encompassing 885 job vacancies. These positions are distributed among key companies, including Galfar, Global Chemicals, Nafal, Al Tayer, and Veolia. The initiative is designed to integrate qualified Omani nationals into essential industries, thereby enhancing productivity and contributing to societal development. Eligibility for these roles includes being a registered job seeker with the Ministry of Labour and having a minimum gap of three months since the last recorded employment in the Ministry of Labour's system. Applicants must be under 35 years of age and should not have previously benefited from any government or private sector-funded training programmes. Priority in the initial screening will be given to residents of the respective governorates, with educational qualifications also considered. Successful candidates will undergo an examination or interview to determine final selection, Nama informed.
