Black Ops 6's Next Season Begins August 7th

Black Ops 6's Next Season Begins August 7th originally appeared on GameDaily. Season 5 of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 drops August 7th at 9 a.m. PT, according to the in-game Battle Pass timer. It's not confirmed to be the final season, but it may as well be. Seasons typically run for 8 weeks, and the first look at Black Ops 7 is scheduled for August 19th at Gamescom. COD typically releases in October or November, so I expect a release date announcement that will coincide with the end of Season 5. The main event is the new Zombies map, The Reckoning, set in Janus Towers. If you completed the Easter egg on Shattered Veil, you already know that players will team up with Richtofen to take on S.A.M. and wrap up the Dark Aether storyline. This was recently confirmed during an episode of the COD Pod, where Senior Communications Director Stephanie Snowden announced that Janus Towers will be the final Zombies map in Black Ops 6. Some fans expected more DLC drops, but it sounds like Treyarch is deciding to focus on Black Ops 7 instead. Multiplayer's getting some love too; new maps, modes, and a rumored return of Operator Sims as the Battle Pass headliner. Oh, and there's the crossover with I Know What You Did Last Summer to look forward to as well. Finally, the Battle Pass will bring the M249 LMG to the game. Info leaked by dataminers says we might also get the MP-40, M60, APS underwater rifle, and even a chainsaw. Not exactly subtle, but very on brand for this era of COD. If it works like the other seasons have, this season should run for eight weeks, with a mid-season update coming at the halfway point. With Zombies wrapping up and Black Ops 7 right around the corner, this is definitely one to show up for. This story was originally reported by GameDaily on Jul 28, 2025, where it first appeared.

EA Sports Reveals Ratings for Top Rookies in Madden NFL 26

EA Sports Reveals Ratings for Top Rookies in Madden NFL 26 originally appeared on GameDaily. The release date for Madden NFL 26 is almost here, and players are starting to find out their ratings. For veteran players, it's likely not that exciting at this point, but for rookies, this is the first time they're seeing their Madden ratings. Ahead of the game's August 14 release date, EA Sports dropped the ratings for some of the top rookies: Travis Hunter, Jacksonville Jaguars: 84 overall Ashton Jeanty, Las Vegas Raiders: 83 overall Abdul Carter, New York Giants: 81 overall Mason Graham, Cleveland Browns: 80 overall Will Campbell, New England Patriots: 79 overall Jalon Walker, Atlanta Falcons: 79 overall Kenneth Grant, Miami Dolphins: 78 overall Jahdae Barron, Denver Broncos: 78 overall Mykel Williams, San Francisco 49ers: 78 overall Maxwell Hairston, Buffalo Bills: 78 overall Hunter being the highest rated isn't a surprise due to his two-way ability, but there's one big name left off the list. No. 1 pick Cam Ward is only rated at 71, which puts him well outside the top 10. Now, quarterbacks typically have a stricter ratings curve than other positions, so Ward isn't too far behind his contemporaries. 2024 No. 1 pick Caleb Williams had a 76 rating going into last season, while No. 2 pick Jayden Daniels had a 74 rating. Cosmos Point: Hardcore Tactical Squad Combat Set in a Deadly Space Graveyard

Cosmos Point: Hardcore Tactical Squad Combat Set in a Deadly Space Graveyard originally appeared on GameDaily. Anatoliy Sidorov, an independent developer, is preparing to launch Cosmos Point, a striking fusion of turn‑based tactics and extraction-shooter looting mechanics, expected to arrive on Steam in 2025. The core gameplay loop puts you in command of a well‑armed squad dropped onto abandoned space stations littered with wrecked ships, looters, and hostile AI drones. Missions demand precision and luck: you'll need to manage scarce ammunition, grenades, backpacks, and tools while sticking to tight inventory limits. Every round out of your limited backpack space matters—if a fighter dies, their gear stays behind. This isn't your typical grid‑based turn‑tactic: you can switch equipment mid‑mission, scavenge on the fly, and customize weapons to suit your strategy. Each successful extraction brings resources back to your space station base, enabling upgrades like expanded storage, crafting stations, and unlockable mission lanes. The game promises maturity—not only in its mechanics but in its tone. Combat is lethal and bloody, backpack inventories are tight, and every decision feels consequential. Yet even within these gritty loops, the visuals retain a stylized edge—clean character portraits, stark modular UI, and detailed weapon handling that earned early players' praise for mechanical polish. Cosmos Point blends the calculated strategy of XCOM with the high-risk scavenging of Escape from Tarkov, all within a sci-fi space-station setting. Its emphasis on extraction, loot‑driven progression, and persistent base upgrades gives each mission meaningful weight. The game's attention to gear, tactical nuance, and tentatively promised full Linux/macOS support makes it an early standout in the indie tactics space—especially for players hungry for realism-meets-turn-based grit.
