Masters tickets? Getting into Augusta National will cost you (and it's not allowed)

Masters tickets? Getting into Augusta National will cost you (and it's not allowed) There are just hours until the start of one of the most popular sporting events on the planet begins as the first shots will be fired at the 2025 Masters. Playing in the Masters is one of the biggest honors in golf, but simply being able to attend it as a spectator is an ultimate bucket list item for sports fans. Can you still get in? Technically, secondary tickets are not allowed. The tournament only sells tickets through its lottery system. Applications closed months ago, and tickets have already been awarded. With the action starting soon, here's what to know about trying to get to the 2025 Masters: Can you still buy 2025 Masters tickets? Through the Masters, no. Augusta National is the only authorized source for Masters tickets and says the resale of any ticket is strictly prohibited. If someone acquires tickets from another source, it could result in exclusion from the tournament. If you're willing to risk it on the secondary market, be prepared to spend thousands of dollars. For example, according to Gametime, an app/site for last-minute tickets, a four-day pass to the event is $26,212 (including taxes and fees). How to get Masters tickets Aside from risking it on the secondary market, the best and cheapest way to get Masters tickets is through its lottery system. The process is done on the Masters website. Interested people fill out an application and are able to request what tickets they want for a certain period of time. After the application window closes, Augusta National does a lottery to award tickets, and applicants are notified if they are selected or not. How hard is it to get tickets to the Masters? Odds It's unknown how many applications are done for Masters tickets each year, but estimates the odds of getting Masters single-day tickets to be about 0.55 percent. It came to its conclusion using how many tickets are distributed each year and roughly how many people applied using Masters viewership numbers. How much does it cost to go to the Masters? Tickets offered for the Masters include the practice round, single round or all-weekend tickets. The prices for the 2025 Masters were: Practice rounds (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday): $100 First round (Thursday): $140 Second round (Friday): $140 Third round (Saturday): $140 Final round (Sunday): $140 Four-day tournament badge (Thursday-Sunday): $450 How to enter Masters lottery The process is simple. When the applications open, users either create an account or update their existing account information on the Masters tickets website. People can select what tickets they are interested in. Once submitted, applicants wait until the Masters notifies people of who was awarded tickets. Masters lottery 2026 Applications for the 2026 Masters will open on June 1 and will be available to apply through June 20. Jordan Mendoza of USA TODAY contributed to this report.

Ticket prices for the Pirates' home opener against the Yankees surging ahead of the game

The Pirates may be more than 1,000 miles away from the friendly confines of PNC Park for their season opener, but they will have their home opener next week, and it's anticipated to be a sellout. With ticket pricing, we found some in the upper decks, like section 307 going for $101. Naturally with it being opening day and the New York Yankees, those tickets are costing a pretty penny. "It's always good to see David vs. Goliath. Small market team vs. big market team," Buddy Fiedler of Scott Township said. According to the ticket site Gametime, they have the Pirates as the 10th most expensive median ticket price at $102 a seat. Numbers don't always tell the story. FinanceBuzz has them as the fifth cheapest, averaging just under $60. "The price was pretty good," David Barclay of Penn Hills said after buying tickets at PNC Park. A few fans were buying tickets for games straight from the box office. According to the Better Business Bureau, you always want to make sure you are careful where you are buying your tickets, especially online. "Only conduct purchases through verified sources or legitimate ticket brokers that are offering you that money back guarantee if, for some reason, there should be an issue with those tickets," BBB of Western Pa. Public Relations Director Caitlin Driscoll said. If you're doing searches online, look for reviews of sites. If someone is asking you to use a money transfer app or cash, it can be a red flag. Try to use your credit card so you can dispute any issues with tickets. Even secondhand markets can be a buyer-beware situation. "These ticket brokers and resellers can charge whatever they want to charge, essentially," Driscoll said over Zoom. After Opening Day, to no surprise, ticket prices drop. Those section 307 seats that were more than $100 drop to $30 by the time the Cardinals come to town after the Yankees leave. "I think PNC and Major League Baseball are the best major sport ticket pricing going," Fiedler said after picking up his tickets. According to the Pirates, it's expected to be a sellout next Friday when that first pitch is thrown at 4:12 p.m.

Super Bowl secondary-ticket prices high but much less than last year's game

Prices on the secondary-ticket market for Sunday's Super Bowl in New Orleans are much less than last year's big game and declining, but still high by historical standards. The average price for the Kansas City Chiefs-Philadelphia Eagles game at TickPick was $6,552 as of Tuesday. If that amount holds, it would be that website's third highest for a Super Bowl. Last year's game between the Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers had an average price at that site of $9,136. The only other Super Bowl to attract a higher average price was four years ago when the amount was $7,046 for Chiefs' game against the hometown Tampa Bay Buccaneers when the crowd was limited to 25,000 fans because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The lowest price for this year's game was just less than $4,000, which has declined about 30% since the matchup was set. Gametime reports a similar trend, also noting last year's game had a minimum price of $8,764 shortly before kickoff. 'With last year's Vegas hype and 49ers fan frenzy behind us, prices are seeing a natural market correction,' Gametime said in a statement. 'Plus, with no major 'pent-up' demand from either fan base, tickets are looking better than ever.' The lowest tickets prices at Vivid Seats and StubHub also were less than $4,000. TickPick co-CEO Brett Goldberg said there were a number of reasons why ticket prices are notably lower than last year. That game was the first in Las Vegas, creating even more fan interest than usual. The close proximity of Allegiant Stadium to the nation's eighth-busiest airport and Las Vegas Strip entertainment corrider that includes many of the world's largest hotels contributed to record prices. Hotel capacity in New Orleans is more limited with about 26,000 rooms in the city center, and even home rentals are at a premium. 'If you try to go book a hotel right now, it's very challenging,' Goldberg said. Another problem is the matchup. This is the third Super Bowl in a row for the Chiefs and the second in three years for the Eagles. 'I think if the Bills won, you would've seen a very different dynamic here,' Goldberg said. 'There's a part of that (Chiefs) fan base that can afford to go to the Super Bowl three times, but that's a very small (segment of the) fan base that could do that. 'Even the Eagles have a little bit of a fatigue from being at a Super Bowl two years ago. We're hearing directly from fans, 'I went two years ago. I'm not sure I could pull this off.' Would they love to go? Sure, but the impracticality on it's a $10,000 trip for two becomes very limiting.' Goldberg said he hasn't received feedback that the New Year's Day terrorist attack in which 14 people were killed by a motorist on Bourbon Street played a significant part in the price decline. New Orleans is about to host its 11th Super Bowl, though first in 12 years. But the been-there, done-that feel is another factor, Goldberg said, and one Las Vegas could eventually face as well at one point. 'By the time you do it a third time, the stadium won't be as new,' Goldberg said. 'I do think it could lose some of its appeal.' ___ AP NFL: Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
