Results of 2025 Chicago Bank of America 13.1 Half Marathon in Garfield Park
Runners hit the pavement Sunday morning for the Bank of America 13.1 Half Marathon in Garfield Park. Participants ran through the city's West Side while viewing some of the historical sites along the course route—starting in Garfield Park, passing through Douglass, back up through Jackson, and up Sacramento to Humboldt Park. This year, Zouhair Talbi won for the men's division and overall race with a time of 1:01:08, while Meseret Belete Tola finished with a time of 1:09:36 for the women's division. The two beat last year's time by winners Peter Njeru, who finished the race at 1:01:46, and Joyline Chemutai at 1:11:45. Daniel Romanchuk remains undefeated in the half marathon's men's wheelchair division, finishing at 43:43, beating his time last year by one second of 43:44. That time is now held this year by runner-up Aaron Pike. Susannah Scaroni took first in the women's wheelchair division with a time of 48:50. Ricky Gupta was victorious in the non-binary division, beating last year's time, held by Caleb-Michael Files of 1:32:36, finishing at 1:28:22. Runners from across the country to partake in Bank of America 13.1 Half Marathon in Garfield Park
Thousands of runners are gearing up for the fourth annual Bank of America Half 13.1 Marathon on Sunday morning on Chicago's West Side. Those taking part will give it their all as they put feet to pavement in Garfield Park. The marathon draws people from all over the city, state, and country. Last year, some international participants participated. Runners will have a unique experience of the city's West Side neighborhoods. The course weaves through our historic parks and boulevards, starting and finishing in Garfield Park with some scenic loops through Humboldt and Douglass Parks. Organizers say their goal is to support and advance health and wellness on Chicago's west side, with a chance to showcase local businesses on the city's West Side. Map of the Bank of America 13.1 Marathon Runners will head south on Independence to Douglass Park and then back up through Jackson, eventually up Sacramento to Humboldt Park. The race kicks off at 7 a.m. with a Race Day Festival to follow at 8 a.m.

2 charged for trying to hit officers with car, police say
Two people were charged with aggravated battery and attempted murder for allegedly trying to strike two police officers with a vehicle in the Austin neighborhood, Chicago police announced Sunday. The first suspect, 38-year-old Joseph Howard of Chicago, is facing two felony counts of aggravated battery of a police officer and two felony counts of resisting arrest. The second suspect, 24-year-old Keyana Wells of Bolingbrook, is facing two felony counts of attempted first-degree murder and one felony count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Police said that on Wednesday, around 3 a.m., officers observed two people standing next to a vehicle wanted in a carjacking in the 200 block of South Cicero Avenue. As officers attempted to place those two suspects into custody, one suspect allegedly got into the vehicle and attempted to strike the officers with the vehicle. Both suspects fled the scene, traveling northbound. Police said that no one was struck, but one officer sustained minor injuries and self-transported to an area hospital for treatment. The suspects were arrested Friday in the Garfield Park neighborhood and placed into custody. They are expected to appear in court Sunday.

Teen boy among 4 injured in West Side drive-by shooting
CHICAGO — Four people, including a teen boy, were injured after gunfire erupted from a vehicle on the city's West Side on Friday night. According to police, the shooting unfolded just after 9 p.m. in the 600 block of South Homan Avenue, in Garfield Park. Read more: Latest Chicago news and headlines Officers said the victims, three adult men and a teen boy, were standing outside in the area when a dark colored SUV approached the group. A gunman inside the car then opened fire in their direction. Officers said a 16-year-old boy, a 26-year-old man and a 24-year-old man were hospitalized with critical injuries following the shooting. A fourth victim, a 23-year-old man, was hospitalized in good condition. Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting and an investigation is now underway. Man missing from Garfield Park may need medical attention: CPD
CHICAGO – Chicago police are searching for a missing 31-year-old man who may be in need of medical attention. Police said Jamar Evans was last seen Friday, May 9 in the area of the 700 block of North Pulaski Avenue in Garfield Park. He was last seen wearing a black and red baseball cap, red sweater and black pants. LATEST CASES: Missing people in Chicagoland Evans is 5'5″ and weighs 150 pounds. He also has black hair and brown eyes, according to investigators. Police said Evans may also be in need of medical attention.
