Fuel station sealed over water in diesel, under-dispensing and other violations
Indore: Indore district administration on Saturday sealed a petrol pump following an inspection that revealed multiple irregularities, including the presence of water in its diesel storage tank. The action, part of an ongoing campaign led by collector Asheesh Singh, also found the pump dispensing less than the standard quantity of diesel and operating without a mandatory PUC (Pollution Under Control) centre. The inspection, conducted at United Auto Service petrol pump in Rau by the Food Department team under Additional Collector Gaurav Benal, found 22 litres of water mixed in the underground diesel tank, a 451-litre stock discrepancy, and a consistent shortfall of approximately 20 ml per 5 litres dispensed from the nozzle. Additionally, no ethanol mix information was displayed, and the first-aid box lacked adequate medicines. The 890 litres of diesel in the tank, valued at approximately Rs 81,909, were secured, and the pump will remain sealed pending a court order. Samples were sent for laboratory testing, and an investigation into the under-dispensing was initiated. "This action reinforces the district's commitment to ensuring that consumers receive quality and accurately measured fuel, alongside access to essential facilities like clean drinking water, air pumps, and proper sanitation at petrol stations, as part of a wider inspection drive," the food controller Mohan Maru said, adding following the inspection at some other petrol pumps, the owners have been asked to make the said arrangements in the given time limit.
