Tembisa suspect arrested for alleged fake ID operation

A joint operation led by Gauteng law enforcement has resulted in the arrest of a suspect allegedly involved in the manufacturing and possession of fraudulent documents in Essellen Park, Tembisa. According to Gauteng Department of Community Safety, the operation involved the Gauteng Traffic Police High Priority Crimes Unit, Gauteng Traffic Police Specialized Law Enforcement Unit (SLEU), SAPS Intelligence, Metro Police (M.D.O CI CIT), EMPD CLU Northern Region, and Gauteng Traffic Wardens SLEU (East and Central). Officers acted on intelligence and targeted a property where suspects were producing fake documents. Upon arrival, officers conducted a detailed search of the premises. They uncovered a significant cache of fraudulent items, including various green barcoded South African identity documents(ID), foreign national identity documents, multiple South African driver's licences, a variety of bank cards, and SASSA social grant cards. The individual found at the address was unable to provide an explanation for the origin of the documents. Law enforcement officials immediately placed the suspect under arrest for possession of suspected stolen goods. The suspect will appear in court soon. Further investigations are under way. Public Urged to Remain Vigilant Authorities have warned that the production of fraudulent documents fuels a range of criminal activities. They have urged the public to report any suspicious operations. Let us know by leaving a comment below, or send a WhatsApp to 060 011 021 1 . Sinoville police urge community to unite in the fight against GBV

Sinoville police urge community to unite in the fight against GBV Sinoville SAPS in the north of Pretoria, in collaboration with the Gauteng Department of Community Safety and local churches held a campaign to raise awareness around gender-based violence (GBV) over the Easter weekend. The campaign saw members of the community come together on Saturday, 19 April, in prayer, honouring victims of crime, reflection, and collective commitment to creating a safer, more just society. The event began with a 2.2km walk through Sinoville, marked by 14 prayer stations, symbolising different social challenges facing the area, from youth unemployment to GBV. Each station addressed a different societal issue, with one specifically dedicated to prayer for the empowerment of women survivors of GBV. Candles were lit in remembrance of GBV victims, with moments of silence observed to honour their lives and experiences. Sinoville police Station Commander Colonel Gerald Witbooi urged the community to join hands and work together in the fight against GBV. Social crime prevention and communication officer Sergeant Gomolemo Modibane said, 'We cannot overcome this scourge alone. The police needs the community, faith-based organisations, and civil society to stand united. 'Every report made, every conversation started, every show of support, no matter how small, contributes to saving lives.' MEC for the Gauteng Department of Community Safety, Faith Mazibuko, also spoke passionately at the event. She stressed that GBV is a societal issue, not confined to a specific gender, noting that while most perpetrators are male, women too can be abusers. 'Gender-based violence is not tolerable and should never be normalised. It must be reported, and the victims must be supported,' she said. Community members, many visibly moved by the campaign, echoed a call for more frequent events like these to keep the momentum going in the fight against GBV. Modibane advised residents that if they experience GBV, they must report it immediately to their nearest police station or call the national GBV Command Centre at 0800 428 428. Gauteng municipalities sign crime MoU

SEDIBENG.- The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Gauteng Provincial Government, the Gauteng Department of Community Safety, SAPS, and all municipalities and districts in Gauteng took place at the University of Johannesburg's Soweto Campus last Tuesday. The MoU signing was pronounced by Premier Panyaza Lesufi earlier this year during the State of the Province Address (SOPA). The districts and municipalities include the City of Johannesburg, Tshwane, Ekurhuleni, Sedibeng, Emfuleni, Lesedi, Midvaal, West Rand, Rand West, Mogale City, and Merafong. The signing paves the way for an integrated, province-wide approach to crime prevention, traffic law enforcement, and public safety management. The provincial government said that the signing also reflects the province's commitment to integrated governance and safer communities. 'It is also aligned with the Premier's vision of a crime-free Gauteng, where law enforcement agencies work in unison to reclaim public spaces and restore the rule of law.' Emfuleni Local Municipality's (ELM) executive mayor, Sipho Radebe, Public Safety MMC, Ndade Mokoena, and the Municipal Manager (MM), April Ntuli, attended the ceremony. In his address, Lesufi reaffirmed the provincial government's unwavering stance against crime. 'Wherever a criminal, drug lord, and rapist is, we will unleash all our resources and hunt that individual until we get them.' He commended all municipalities that have signed the Gauteng Safety MoU, recognising their commitment to removing unnecessary bureaucracy and mobilising every available resource to tackle crime head-on.
