David Corenswet's ‘flawless' movies prove he's the perfect Superman

Excited for Superman and already want to see more of breakout star David Corenswet? Two of his best roles are currently streaming Superman star David Corenswet is about to become a household name as he takes on the iconic Man of Steel in James Gunn's new DC Universe reboot. The new blockbuster hitting the big screen this Friday (11th July) features the powerful All-American hero taking on numerous threats while trying to hold true to his principles of truth and justice. ‌ While his romance with star reporter Lois Lane (played by Rachel Brosnahan) starts to blossom, his nemesis Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) will stop at nothing to bring the hero down to his level. ‌ With all the buzz surrounding the latest superhero blockbuster, two of Corenswet's previous films that prove he's the right man for the job are currently available to stream. Pearl While this period horror film is worlds away from Superman, Corenswet gives an effortlessly charming performance opposite Mia Goth that made fans fall in love with him well before he was cast as Clark Kent. ‌ A prequel to Ti West's grimy slasher film X, this unconventional thriller stars Goth as a young aspiring actress who goes on a rampage when she misses out on a starring role. Corenswet portrays an unnamed projectionist who befriends Pearl before she unleashes her darker side. One five-star review said of the film: 'I didn't expect anything nearly as good as this. Flawlessly innovative and brave film-making.' ‌ Corenswet's brief yet memorable role was clearly a highlight for fans and critics alike, with calling him 'dashing' and notes he 'makes [Pearl] feel like a movie star', qualities the star certainly needs for his romantic scenes with Lois Lane. raved: 'This is a very strong performance by David Corenswet. I never quite got a handle on who this character is, and I think that air of mystery is intentional.' And a fan on X (formerly Twitter) said: 'David Corenswet as Superman is near perfect casting. Just from watching Pearl, I can totally pick up on some solid Clark/Superman vibes. I would fully endorse this.' ‌ While one Reddit user even claimed: 'Not even joking when I watched this in theaters with a friend I whispered to her and said 'he would make such a good Clark Kent'.' Pearl is available to stream on Netflix ‌ Twisters Shortly after Pearl, Corenswet joined the all-star cast of Twisters, the Lee Isaac Chung-directed sequel to the 1996 cult classic Twister. More than living up to the legacy of the original, fans were blown away by the thrilling disaster flick, with a five-star Google review saying they 'absolutely loved every minute'. ‌ And someone else agreed: 'From the very first frame to the credits rolling, this film had me absolutely hooked! I've watched it multiple times now, and honestly, it just gets better with each viewing.' Taking on a more antagonistic role this time around, the Superman star portrays Scott, one of the crew members in the more corporate team of storm chasers who butt heads with YouTuber Tyler Owens (played by Glen Powell), known as the Tornado Wrangler, and his posse. ‌ Although Scott's rather smug demeanour is definitely not befitting of Superman, the role showcases Corenswet's range as an actor and proves he'll have it in him if the franchise ever decides to go a darker route with the superhero. Moreover, a touching behind-the-scenes video of the cast of Twisters celebrating Corenswet landing the role proves just how popular he was amongst his co-stars. With endless charisma and bucketfuls of talent, Corenswet seems destined to become an A-list star once comic book fans finally witness his debut as the beloved superhero. Twisters is available to stream on Sky Go and NOW.
