BU gets NAAC ‘A' grade
1 2 Berhampur: Berhampur University received an "A" grade in the third cycle of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) assessment. The university received a message of NAAC accreditation for five years from the council on Friday. A NAAC team conducted its three-day fresh assessment in hybrid mode from July 23 to 25. While two members of the NAAC team visited the university campus, five other members participated online to assess the third cycle assessment of the university. The first and second cycle assessments of the university were made in 2002 and 2016 and were awarded "B+" and "A" grades respectively. "Based on our performance, we expected to get at least an "A+" grade. Now we are satisfied with this grade," said Geetanjali Dash, vice-chancellor of the university. She termed it good news for the university, ahead of the institute conducting its 26th convocation on Saturday. Berhampur might have been the last university in the country assessed by the NAAC team before the council launched its new system of accreditation on July 29, its foundation day. No takers for MA in women's studies at Berhampur univ
Berhampur: MA in women's studies offered by Berhampur University has failed to attract students for the past two years. Launched in 2022 under the self-financing mode with 24 seats, the course aimed to promote gender awareness and women's empowerment. No student took admission in the course this year. Last year, only one student took admission but later dropped out. The university authorities have decided to review whether the course should be continued. "Before taking the final decision, we will review the matter," said vice-chancellor Geetanjali Dash. However, the Women's Studies Research Centre will continue its programme, where two students are now pursuing their PhD in gender studies. Some other subjects, mostly self-financing courses, also have few takers. Only 4 students enrolled in linguistics (30 seats), 7 in MSc in computer science (24), 18 in electronic science (40) and 22 in home science (50). Courses like MBA in tour and travel management, sociology and public administration have also seen limited admissions. Academics attributed the low number of admissions in these courses to the lack of job opportunities. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Mr. Bala's Powerful Intraday Strategy Revealed – No More Guesswork TradeWise Learn More Undo "The university needs to revamp the course materials of these subjects.
