Last chance! 5 must-watch Prime Video movies to stream before they leave this month
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. As the month comes to a close, it's a great chance to catch a few standout Prime Video titles before they disappear. While fresh releases are always on the horizon, some beloved favorites are set to leave the streaming service soon. This batch includes everything from an underrated Tom Cruise sci-fi flick to the Best Picture-winning war thriller 'The Hurt Locker,' and even a moving comedy-drama that might just catch you off guard. So whether you're after adrenaline-pumping action or something with more emotional weight, there's still time to stream. Here are five movies you'll want to watch before they're gone. And if you're after your next binge-watching session, check out what's new on Prime Video in July 2025. 'Runaway Jury' (2003) Prime Video is about to part ways with one of the most overlooked legal thrillers of the early 2000s. 'Runaway Jury' might not get mentioned as often as some other courtroom dramas, but its killer cast and timely subject matter make it a tense, surprisingly relevant watch. The real draw here? Watching Gene Hackman and Dustin Hoffman go head-to-head for the first (and only) time on screen. Hackman plays a ruthless jury consultant hired by a powerful gun manufacturer, while Hoffman is the idealistic attorney fighting for justice. Caught in the middle is John Cusack's mysterious juror, who (along with a sharp Rachel Weisz) has their own hidden agenda. Based on the John Grisham novel, 'Runaway Jury' tackles jury tampering, corporate power, and moral gray zones with gripping intensity. It's smart, stylish, and moves like a thriller, proving courtroom drama doesn't have to be all talk. Watch on Prime Video until July 31 'The Hurt Locker' (2009) One of the most gripping war dramas in recent memory is leaving Prime Video soon, and it just so happens to be an Oscar heavyweight. 'The Hurt Locker,' which took home Best Picture and Best Director for Kathryn Bigelow, isn't your typical war movie. It's quieter, more intimate, and way more nerve-wracking than you'd expect. Jeremy Renner stars as Sergeant William James, a bomb disposal technician in Iraq who approaches each mission with a mix of calm and recklessness that unsettles his team. Renner's performance is unpredictable and deeply human, anchoring a movie that thrives on tension rather than spectacle. Instead of leaning on explosive set pieces, 'The Hurt Locker' builds suspense in silence, in the moments before a wire is cut or a decision is made. It's a haunting look at the psychological toll of combat and the strange pull of adrenaline. Watch on Prime Video until July 31 'Moneyball' (2011) Even if you're not into baseball, 'Moneyball' hits a home run thanks to sharp writing, a standout performance from Brad Pitt, and a story that's really about challenging the system. Pitt plays Billy Beane, the real-life general manager of the Oakland A's, who turns the world of baseball upside down by using data and analytics to build a competitive team on a shoestring budget. Jonah Hill, in a career-redefining role, plays his awkward but brilliant partner-in-crime, and together they go up against tradition, ego, and the odds. Directed by Bennett Miller and written by Aaron Sorkin and Steven Zaillian, 'Moneyball' is as much about risk-taking and resilience as it is about sports. It's smart, funny, and unexpectedly moving. Watch on Prime Video until July 31 'The Peanut Butter Falcon' (2019) One you absolutely shouldn't miss before it leaves Prime Video: 'The Peanut Butter Falcon.' This is a heartfelt, offbeat adventure that quietly became one of the most beloved indie movies of the last few years. It's funny, warm, and surprisingly powerful without ever feeling forced. Zack Gottsagen stars as Zak, a young man with Down syndrome who escapes from a care facility to pursue his dream of becoming a pro wrestler. Along the way, he crosses paths with Tyler (Shia LaBeouf), a troubled fisherman on the run, and the two form an unlikely friendship that feels completely genuine. Dakota Johnson also shines as the social worker trying to bring Zak home. More Mark Twain than modern drama, 'The Peanut Butter Falcon' is a story about freedom, belonging, and rewriting your own narrative. Watch on Prime Video until July 31 'Oblivion' (2013) If you're in the mood for sleek sci-fi with a surprising emotional core, don't miss 'Oblivion.' This underrated Tom Cruise gem is often overlooked in the genre, but it's a visually stunning, thought-provoking ride that deserves to be watched at least once. Jack Harper (Cruise) is one of the last drone repairmen stationed on a post-apocalyptic Earth. His routine mission takes a turn when he rescues a mysterious woman from a crashed spacecraft, unraveling secrets that challenge everything he thought he knew about the war, the planet, and even himself. 'Oblivion' pairs impressive visuals with a haunting score by M83 and a surprisingly layered story. It's moody, stylish sci-fi that trades nonstop action for atmosphere and intrigue, and it just might stick with you longer than you expect. Watch on Prime Video until July 31 More from Tom's Guide 5 best Prime Video movies with a surprising twist Prime Video just got this action movie with Mark Wahlberg 3 best Prime Video miniseries you (probably) haven't seen Solve the daily Crossword

Christopher Reeve Was Disappointed By Marlon Brando In 'Superman': 'The Man Didn't Care'
Christopher Reeve Was Disappointed By Marlon Brando In 'Superman': 'The Man Didn't Care' originally appeared on Parade. With the latest iteration of Superman soaring into theaters across the country, many fans of DC's iconic superhero might find themselves revisiting previous versions of the character. Most obviously, dedicated viewers might be turning back to the original Superman films starring Christopher Reeve, Marlon Brando and the late Gene Hackman, the first two of which earned rave reviews from critics. In spite of the first two Superman movies' continued success, however, it's worth pointing out that the Man of Steel himself had mixed feelings about the original films. In particular, the famously cordial Reeve took issue with co-star Marlon Brando's performance in the film, believing the legendary Hollywood actor failed to give it his all during the movie's production. Appearing on Late Night With David Letterman on March 1, 1982, Reeve spoke about his mixed feelings towards Brando's acting style in Superman, plainly stating, "I don't worship at the altar of Marlon Brando." Sharing his own thoughts on the actor, Reeve hypothesized that years of positive publicity had made Brando indifferent towards his craft, resulting in an increasingly unenthusiastic approach to acting with each passing decade. "He could really be inspiring a whole generation of actors by continuing to work," Reeve observed. "But what happened is the press loved him whether he was good, bad, or indifferent. People thought he was this institution no matter what he did. So he doesn't care anymore." When a somewhat taken aback Letterman joked that Brando was actually in the backstage area scheduled to come on as their next guest, Reeve laughingly replied, "I don't care. That's something I would say to him, as well." Following this, Letterman asked Reeve whether it was exciting to work with an actor of Brando's magnitude on-screen. "Not really, no," the Superman actor answered with a chuckle. "I had a wonderful time [filming], but the man didn't care, I'm sorry. He took the two million [Brando's salary for the film] and ran." "I still care. I'm a real beginner. And I just care so much that it hurts when someone's phoning it in," Reeve ended by saying. "But he's a wonderful actor. He's a brilliant man. But at this moment, he just isn't motivated." Christopher Reeve Was Disappointed By Marlon Brando In 'Superman': 'The Man Didn't Care' first appeared on Parade on Jul 11, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jul 11, 2025, where it first appeared.

Poll: Why Santa Fe was crowned America's best city
A New Mexico city was rated the top in the US for its stunning views and good food, but it was recently involved in a horrific tragedy. Santa Fe, the state's capital, was rated number one of Travel and Leisure's 2025 best US travel destinations. The town of 89,000, known for its unique Spanish-style architecture and sand-colored buildings, scored an 88.80 out of 100 by 180,000 readers in the survey, beating out popular major cities like New York City, which ranked eighth. Readers loved the city's New Mexican cuisine, as well as its art galleries and markets. The city sits in the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range and gets sunshine nearly all year round - a place readers called a 'true gem.' 'Every trip exceeds the last, with so many new things to discover,' one reader told the magazine. 'Santa Fe offers a multi-layer experience,' another said. However, the idyllic city was recently hit with a tragedy that has left many on edge. The 'best city' accolade comes as millions in the region have been warned to beware of Hantavirus - a deadly virus that recently claimed a notable resident's life. Actor Gene Hackman and his musician wife Betsy Arakawa were found dead in their home in February. Police have since determined that Arakawa died first around February 12 as a result of respiratory symptoms caused by the virus, which is passed on through rodent urine, saliva and feces. She was 65. Hantavirus is a rare but severe respiratory illness spread through exposure, typically inhalation, to rodent droppings. A report obtained by Daily Mail indicated that Arakawa had bookmarks on her computer suggesting that she had been researching medical conditions with symptoms similar to COVID-19 or the flu prior to her death. Hackman also had trace amounts of acetone in his system at the time of his death, which could be a product of 'diabetic- and fasting-induced ketoacidosis.' Hackman, who was suffering from advanced Alzheimer's disease at the time, is believed to have wandered around the couple's home alone after his wife's death. Due to the advanced condition, he may not have ever realized his wife had died. The actor, who was 95, died nearly a week later around February 18, from severe heart disease, while Alzheimer's and kidney disease were contributing factors. Hackman tested negative for Hantavirus. Despite the tragedy, the New Mexico paradise beat out New Orleans, Louisiana, Charleston, South Carolina, Savannah, Georgia, and Alexandria, Virginia, which ranked in the top five. Mid-summer through the fall is a great time to visit the city for those who love wildflowers and hot temperatures, as it sits in the 80s and 90s. Winter is another great time to visit for those who love cold activities, like skiing. There are several art museums, including the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum. O'Keeffe was a long-time resident of the area. It also has the Museum of Indian Art and Culture, the New Mexico History Museum, and the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art. It's also a hidden gem for spas, with some located around natural hot springs. Santa Fe also has plenty of hiking trails as its located in the mountains, many of them located along historic architectural sites. And the city is home to many luxurious hotels, including a Four Seasons.

Gene Hackman's $80M Estate Faces Legal Disputes Over Unpaid Debts And Family Feud
Last Updated: Gene Hackman's death is unexplained, and his $80 million estate caused family tension as his kids were left out of the will. Months after the unexpected deaths of actor Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa, the late Hollywood star's $80 million estate is now facing financial and legal complications. New court filings have revealed that Hackman had nearly $100,000 in unpaid credit card debt at the time of his death, and banks are now seeking repayment from the estate. According to documents obtained by Us Weekly, Hackman owed $98,345.29 to Citibank, while Arakawa had a separate outstanding balance of $4,329.75 with Bank of America. Both passed away earlier this year under mysterious circumstances at their New Mexico home. Their deaths are still under investigation, and no official cause has been confirmed in Hackman's case. Hackman, who was 95, had reportedly been suffering from Alzheimer's disease and heart problems. His wife is believed to have died days before him due to hantavirus pulmonary syndrome, a rare illness transmitted by rodent exposure. One of their dogs was also found dead at the scene. Authorities discovered the couple in early January after neighbours grew concerned about their sudden absence and contacted emergency services. When first responders arrived, Betsy Arakawa's body was already in a state of decomposition. Though the debts are relatively minor compared to the value of Hackman's estate, the situation has raised further complications, particularly around inheritance. The couple reportedly did not have time to resolve their financial affairs before their passing, leading to creditors now filing claims against the estate. Hackman had appointed his wife as the sole beneficiary and successor trustee of his estate in a will drafted back in 2005. That document had not been updated since. Hackman's three adult children, Christopher Allen Hackman, Elizabeth Jean Hackman, and Leslie Anne Hackman, were not named in the will. The children later issued a statement expressing their grief, though it's known that their relationship with their father had been distant for years. Reports suggest that Gene Hackman had designated his wife, Betsy Arakawa, to take control of his trust after his death. In the event of her death, Michael G. Sutin was meant to oversee it. However, Sutin passed away in 2019, and no updates were made to the trust following his death. At present, it remains unclear whether Hackman's three children from his first marriage — Christopher Allen, Leslie Anne and Elizabeth Jean — were included in his will. But a source had revealed that Christopher has already enlisted the services of renowned California lawyer Andrew M. Katzenstein.
