Two Held Over Indecent Video Circulated Online
Two Asian men have been remanded in custody after a video showing them engaged in acts deemed indecent was circulated on social media, the Public Prosecution said yesterday. The Cybercrime Directorate, part of the General Directorate for Combating Corruption and Economic and Electronic Security, detected the clip and referred the matter to prosecutors. The footage was described as breaching public morals and running against the customs of Bahraini society. Both men were arrested and questioned, during which they confessed to the charges. Their phones were seized, and the case has been referred to the criminal court for an urgent hearing. Prosecutors are seeking the maximum sentence allowed by law and permanent deportation. The head of the Cybercrime Prosecution urged social media users to observe legal boundaries when posting, recording, or sharing material.
