Genetec enhances Cloudrunner with advanced ALPR mapping tools

Genetec has announced new interactive mapping features in its AutoVu Cloudrunner system, aimed at giving law enforcement and security professionals more powerful tools to visualise and analyse vehicle data. The enhancements, which include the newly introduced Report Map and Device Map functionalities, are designed to offer users an intuitive geographic interface for examining Automatic Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) information. This development is intended to help improve both the efficiency and reach of vehicle-centric investigations. The new Device Map enables investigators to view the locations of all Cloudrunner cameras connected around a given investigation site. If access to a camera in a critical location is missing, users can now initiate a request to form a third-party partnership directly from the map interface. This functionality is intended to bolster collaboration between law enforcement, businesses, and other security stakeholders. According to Genetec, the goal is to streamline the sharing of data and improve operational coordination. "This seamless process strengthens collaboration between law enforcement agencies, businesses, and security stakeholders, expanding investigative reach and enhancing overall security efforts," the company said in a written statement. Meanwhile, the Report Map feature gives users another way to visualise vehicle activity. It allows for the narrowing of searches based on a specific geographic area. Investigators can quickly identify where ALPR reads and hits have occurred, track movement patterns, and assess vehicle behaviours such as frequency and common travel routes. The tool also offers advanced filtering options based on vehicle characteristics like colour, make, and partial number plates. This, according to Genetec, provides valuable contextual insights that help uncover movement trends and potential crime hotspots. "With Cloudrunner's new mapping tools, law enforcement, security directors, and loss prevention officers can quickly extract meaningful insights and act decisively," said Larry Legere, Commercial Director at Genetec. "Whether investigating a crime in a dense urban area or tracking a vehicle of interest across jurisdictions, the new Cloudrunner mapping features provide them with a visual perspective to better understand the situation and plan an appropriate course of action." These latest updates are now available to AutoVu Cloudrunner users across the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Genetec has confirmed that customers in these regions can access the new features "immediately" without incurring additional costs or requiring any further setup. AutoVu Cloudrunner is a vehicle-centric investigative system that supports law enforcement in identifying vehicles of interest through cloud-based ALPR data. The addition of the Report Map and Device Map tools marks a continued effort by Genetec to expand the system's capabilities and improve the user experience for public safety professionals. The company, which is headquartered in Montréal, Canada, has been providing security solutions for over 25 years and serves more than 42,500 customers in 159 countries. Its portfolio spans video management, access control, intrusion detection, intercom, and digital evidence management solutions, all built with an emphasis on open architecture and cybersecurity. US Tariff Uncertainty Dampens Outlook For Malaysia's Semiconductor Industry: CGS

Renewed US tariff measures are clouding the growth outlook for Malaysia's semiconductor industry, with local manufacturers scrambling to adjust production plans amid shifting trade policies, according to a new report by CGS International. The research house highlights that 32% of the sector's revenues in fiscal 2024 were exposed to the United States and 18% to China, leaving key players like Genetec, Unisem, and SAM Engineering particularly vulnerable on the US side (33–81% exposure) and ViTrox and Mi Technovation on the China side (37–44% exposure). Ahead of a 90-day tariff pause that ends on 9 July 2025, CGS's channel checks found some firms are preloading orders, yet raw-material and component shortages have capped any meaningful sales surge. Meanwhile, final decisions on semiconductor-specific tariffs—and broader US efforts to reshore chip production—remain pending, perpetuating uncertainty. Earnings Downgrades and EPS Forecast Cuts Anticipating a slowdown in capital-expenditure by chipmakers and weaker downstream demand, CGS has slashed its calendar-year 2025–26 EPS forecasts by around 22% for its Malaysian coverage universe. While a short-lived bump in second-quarter earnings is possible from front-loaded orders, lingering tariff risks and elevated inventories—particularly in the automotive and industrial segments—are expected to dampen profits in the second half of 2025. CGS now sees flat sector EPS in 2025 and 21% growth in 2026, figures that sit 15–17% below Bloomberg consensus. Valuation Disconnect Fuels Underweight Calls Despite recent share-price declines, the report warns that sector valuations remain disconnected from fundamentals. On CGS's revised forecasts, the Malaysian semiconductor index trades at 24.9x 2026 P/E, well above the pre-pandemic 2015–19 average of 17.8x. With consensus earnings still too bullish, CGS expects a re-rating toward historical multiples, particularly as tariff differentials and supply-chain rerouting under a China+1 strategy materialise slowly amid heightened US scrutiny. Stock Ratings Reflecting these headwinds, CGS maintains an Underweight stance on the sector. It has reduced positions in Unisem, MPI, Inari, ViTrox, Genetec, and SAM Engineering; kept Hold on Pentamaster and Uchi Technologies; and upgraded Mi Technovation to Add, citing its stronger positioning in China-centred and server-focused markets. Genetec Launches AutoVu ALPR Analysis Reports Plugin

Home » Top stories » Genetec Launches AutoVu ALPR Analysis Reports Plugin Genetec Inc., a global provider of enterprise physical security software, has announced the launch of the AutoVu™ ALPR Analysis Reports plugin. The new tool enhances ALPR-based forensic search capabilities in Genetec™ Security Center. The plugin is designed to help law enforcement officers and investigators analyze vehicle behavior more efficiently. It allows them to narrow down suspects quickly by examining driving speed and identifying vehicle travel cohorts. As a result, it reduces manual data sorting and saves critical investigation time. 'This plugin gives investigators what they need to close cases faster,' said Steve Hins, Product Group Manager, ALPR at Genetec Inc. 'With just a few clicks, they can spot patterns and behaviors in vehicle data that would otherwise take hours or days to uncover manually.' The AutoVu ALPR Analysis Reports plugin includes two major features: Cohort Analysis: Investigators can identify vehicles that regularly travel with a known license plate. This may reveal links to organized criminal activity. Officers can define how often vehicles appear together across multiple ALPR cameras. The system then detects patterns instantly. In cases like retail theft, this helps spot associated getaway cars. Investigators can identify vehicles that regularly travel with a known license plate. Officers select two ALPR cameras and a time range. The system calculates vehicle speeds between cameras and flags anomalies. For example, a vehicle traveling 60 mph in a 30 mph zone after an incident becomes a potential lead. The plugin offers a faster way to pinpoint suspects in events like hit-and-runs or organized theft. It turns large volumes of ALPR data into actionable intelligence within minutes. The AutoVu ALPR Analysis Reports plugin is available globally. It is offered as a paid add-on for Security Center and can be purchased through the Genetec network of accredited channel partners. This launch strengthens Genetec's commitment to delivering advanced tools that support smarter, data-driven policing.

Genetec launches AutoVu plugin, ALPR Analysis Reports to speed up investigations - Middle East Business News and Information

ALPR-based forensic searches increase investigator efficiency and provide actionable insights. Dubai, May, 2025 — Genetec Inc. ('Genetec'), the global leader in enterprise physical security software, announced the AutoVu™ ALPR Analysis Reports plugin , an advanced investigation tool that expands ALPR-based forensic search capabilities within Genetec™ Security Center. The new plugin empowers law enforcement officers and investigators to quickly narrow down a pool of suspects using vehicle behavior patterns—specifically driving speed and travel cohorts. By eliminating manual data sorting and enabling targeted, efficient analysis, the tool is designed to save investigators critical time. 'This plugin gives investigators what they need to close cases faster,' said Steve Hins, Product Group Manager, ALPR at Genetec Inc. 'With just a few clicks, they can spot patterns and behaviors in vehicle data that would otherwise take hours or days to uncover manually.' The AutoVu ALPR Analysis Reports plugin offers two key functionalities: With the Cohort Analysis feature, investigators can identify vehicles that consistently travel with another vehicle of a known license plate—revealing patterns that may point to coordination, accomplices, or organized criminal activity. Instead of manually reviewing read reports, officers can input a known plate, select relevant ALPR cameras, and define how often vehicles appear together (e.g., within a few seconds, across multiple cameras). The system then identifies potential vehicle cohorts instantly. In cases like organized retail theft, this is especially valuable: a known suspect vehicle might be linked to multiple incidents, and cohort analysis can reveal if another vehicle, such as a getaway car, is consistently nearby, helping investigators quickly narrow down their pool of suspects. The Time and Speed Analysis feature enables investigators to quickly identify vehicles exhibiting outlier behavior, such as those fleeing a crime scene, by comparing the estimated speed of vehicles traveling between two ALPR cameras. Officers simply select cameras located within a zone of interest and define a time frame (e.g., one to five minutes). The system then generates a report listing all vehicles that passed both cameras, along with their estimated speeds. This enables investigators to immediately spot anomalies—such as a vehicle traveling 60 mph in an area where most were going 30—without sifting through thousands of license plate reads. In incidents like a hit-and-run, this tool helps pinpoint suspects in seconds by revealing which vehicles sped through a defined area right after the event. Availability: The AutoVu ALPR Analysis Reports plugin is available globally as a paid add-on for Security Center, through the Genetec network of accredited channel partners.
