Genshin Impact 5.8 maintenance schedule, server downtime details and what to expect

Image via: x/GenshinImpact/HoYoverse Genshin Impact's much-awaited update, Version 5.8, is upcoming. With HoYoverse having announced the global maintenance and server downtime, players can now brace for that temporary shutdown of services before indulging in their newest content as it usually happens with major patches. From a new Electro character to Archon quests, here's all the information you'll need before the servers go dark and, of course, what awaits you once the servers are back. Maintenance Schedule: Global Timings The maintenance for Version 5.8 is set to begin on July 30, 2025, at 6:00 AM (UTC+8), half an hour longer from 11:00 AM (UTC+8) at which time the servers will go live. While the maintenance period is standardized worldwide, time shown on-site will depend upon the region you are in. Here's an arrangement by servers: North American Servers (UTC-5): July 29, 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM European Servers (UTC+1): July 30, 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM Asian Servers (UTC+8): July 30, 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM New Content Highlights: What's Coming in Version 5.8 The 5.8 update doesn't just address backend maintenance, it will be filled with new content to keep the world of Teyvat alive and moving. ▪ New Character: Ineffa: One of the most awaited additions has been Ineffa, an Electro character for the playable roster. Her debut banner will go live as soon as the update concludes, so that players are able to insert a high-powered new element wielder into their teams. ▪ Archon Quest: "The Journey Home" : A new Archon Quest granting new stories, world-building, and perhaps further revelation to Genshin's all-encompassing lore awaits after maintenance: "The Journey Home". ▪ Limited-Time Events and Map Changes: Although HoYoverse has kept the specifics a little vague, there have been signs suggesting limited-time events inside the game and map changes or additions to some current areas; it stays to be seen whether there shall be new areas awaiting exploration or new challenges bringing rewards to complete. ▪ New Weapons and Artifacts: With Version 5.8, new weapons also come into play. It makes sense for them to be aimed at complementing Ineffa's skill set, alongside new artifact sets that will probably shake up meta strategies. FULL 5.8 FIRST HALF BANNERS | IS IT GOOD OR BAD ? - Genshin Impact Phase Durations and Update Cycle On the usual order, the two-phase structure will unfold over several weeks: Phase 1 duration: About 16 days Phase 2 duration : About 22 days (varies by server) While it's the temporary shut down of the server that may feel like an interruption, the return brings forth exciting new stories, characters, and gameplay mechanics. Whether you are in it for the lore or to bring together the strongest of parties, Genshin 5.8 is shaping up to be a great landmark in the ever-growing universe. Genshin Impact Varka's character profile, current location, weapons and more

Image via: HoYoverse With every new update, the world of Genshin Impact increases in scale, and there has been a great deal of anticipation regarding Varka, the Grand Master. Sprinkled between lore and events and official trailers, Varka's reputation proceeds ahead of him. Here is all that is currently known about this immense figure from Mondstadt, from story involvement to potential weapon and release window. The Legend of Varka: The Grand Master of Mondstadt Varka is not just another NPC mentioned once in lore-the Grand Master and Knight bores of the Knights of Favonius. While Varka happens to be a Knight of the highest cadre and the Grand Master of the order, he has perhaps never stepped foot in-game. Varka had left Mondstadt on a great expedition approximately half a year before the current timeline; hence Jean has been given the title of Acting Grand Master, taking care of the affairs of the city. Not much is known about his exact objective, but recent developments give us some clues about one possibility that Varka is presently in Nod-Krai, a mysterious yet-to-be-released region, following the leads concerning Durin and the Hexenzirkel. Varka is said to lead with courage but unorthodoxly, one who earns loyalty not by title but by action. Varka, Alice and All Nod Krai Characters Revealed: Song of the Welkin Moon Teaser | Genshin Impact Appearance and Personality: A Fearsome Leader According to Razor's character stories and in-game references, Varka is extremely tall, with messy blonde hair and blue eyes. Two particular factors that make him unmistakable are his facial scars, one extremely conspicuous mark on his neck and another on the right side of his face. His character dress exudes the very essence of status and much battlefield experience: a black and teal coat lined with white fur, a black breastplate bearing the Favonius crest, and an Anemo Vision which is attached visibly to his coat. Varka, in all of his aura, looks regal but also battle worn, befitting his stature. Varka is also fondly remembered by Razor, implying some kindness behind his stern exterior. Several characters have been deeply affected by his mentorship, which means that he is more than a mere warrior - he is a figure who inspires others in Mondstadt. Varka - Every Voice line About HIM!! | ft. Childe, Jean, Eula, Diluc, Kaeya and MORE~ Genshin Impact Weapon and Element: Wind and Steel The Moonlit Ballad of the Night teaser gave some pretty big clues about how Varka fights. Shown with the iconic Wolf's Gravestone hints strongly that he will be a Claymore user. His Anemo Vision, which can be seen attached to his coat in the teaser, confirms his element as Anemo; theoretically, he can be the very first Anemo Claymore in the game. Where is Varka Now? Nowadays, Varka's whereabouts are supposed to be in Nod-Krai, an enigmatic location that is expected to be introduced in Version 6.0 or higher. Increasingly, the lore hints that he was involved in organizing a Tripartite Conference with Hexenzirkel, a powerful witch circle associated with characters such as Alice and Mona. Since Durin's proxies are now repulsed, with more risk coming onto play-ups, the expedition of Varka is becoming more than just a mere scouting one, this might really be the turning point in the core narrative. Anticipated Release There is no official release date as of now, but there are rumors all over of him being playable from Version 6.0 onwards, maybe even being tied to Nod-Krai becoming available and other important characters from lore. Because of his tremendous presence and unique potential for kits and narrative value, Varka will easily be one of the most impactful entries in Genshin Impact. Genshin is PEAKING: Durin, Alice, Nicole, Varka, KIT CRUMBS & REVEAL - The Greatest Genshin Trailer Varka is more than a name mentioned on the walls in the background; he is a symbol of leadership, lore, and an air of mystery shrouding Mondstadt's past and future. As HoYoverse opens new chapters, his arrival is bound to cause a stir, not only in terms of characters but in the very foundation. 3-Day HoYoFest Singapore 2025 Debuts Artist Alley, Tickets All Sold Out

It wasn't just too long ago that MiHoYo (otherwise known as HoYoverse) broke into the international stage with Genshin Impact , and now, the Chinese company commands a strong presence in the gaming scene. The popularity certainly shows in the strong turnouts for their real-life events — from brand collaborations and pop-up initiatives to orchestra performances, the company is no stranger to generating hype. HoYoFest, established as a yearly celebration of all things HoYoverse, continues to be a tradition for fans. Making a return to Singapore, HoYoFest 2025 welcomes Genshin Impact , Honkai Impact 3rd , Honkai: Star Rail , and Zenless Zone Zero into Hall 406CXD of Suntec Convention and Exhibition Centre, with ticket prices starting from S$14. The expanded space means more on-ground activities and fun, but there's another reason for the excitement: fan art. Not only will this year's edition debut its Artist Alley, it also marks the first time a gaming company is allowing fan-created merchandise to be sold at its own event in Southeast Asia. A new stage segment has been included in the programme lineup as well, featuring interactive experiences with the audience and offering cosplayers, performers, and even fan artists to showcase their talents on the stage. As it stands, these new additions have proven to be a hit among the community, with tickets for all three days (25 to 27 July), selling out on the event's opening day. While online sales will no longer be available, fans can try their luck at securing tickets on-site. For those unable to attend HoYoFest 2025 in person, here are some highlights from the first day, starting with the Artist Alley. Arguably the biggest draw on the showfloor, the Artist Alley threatened to empty wallets with a generous merchandise selection, including standard fare such as keychains, acrylic stands, and prints, alongside handicrafts like crochet products and character-themed cups. Barely a few hours in, and 'sold out' signs were already placed on several booths, with the crowd growing larger as time passed, making navigation more difficult and congested. The official merchandise area enjoyed its fair share of enthusiasm, too. Even as doors opened at 11am (and at 10am for Fast Pass holders), exclusive offerings were quickly snapped up, leaving little to no stock behind on the shelves. During the 11am to 12pm timeslot, only about five blind packs comprising past HoYoFest exclusives remained, out of the full range listed below: Genshin Impact Chibi Acrylic Standee (S$11) Tote Bag with Badge Series (S$25) Honkai Impact 3 Chibi Acrylic Standee (S$11) Chibi Mouse Pad (S$18) Chibi Keychain Blind Bag (S$6.50, random design) Chibi Mouse Pad (S$18) Badge Series (S$12) Honkai: Star Rail Chibi Acrylic Standee (S$11) Acrylic Puzzle-shaped Magnet Fullset (S$55) Acrylic Puzzle-shaped Magnet Blind Bag (S$11) Zenless Zone Zero Chibi Acrylic Standee (S$11) Chibi Acrylic Keychain (S$12) For non-exclusive goods, the available options run from soft toys and badges to character stands and even pillows. Merchandise specific to each title is also up for grabs – the Zenless Zone Zero lineup, for instance, features finger skateboard charms and Bangoo plush massage hammers, while tissue box holders in the shape of Ruan Mei's cat cakes are part of the Honkai: Star Rail selection. Score a free postcard by purchasing one or more items at the official store, plus an additional paper bag when a minimum of S$20 is spent. Over to the stage area, various activities are set to take place at allocated time slots. Genshin Impact , Honkai: Star Rail , and Zenless Zone Zero will have their own dedicated showcases, joining an open dance floor, a cosplayer gathering, open-stage performances, and more on the roster. As with previous years, hands-on booths allow attendees to experience HoYoverse games on different platforms, including the Apple Vision Pro headset. Carrying over from last year, the stamp rally invites fans to collect all five stamps and redeem a free HoYoFest-themed instant photo at the photo booth. Only one stamp can be earned from completing activities in a zone themed after Genshin Impact , Honkai: Star Rail , Genshin Impact , Honkai Impact 3rd , or Zenless Zone Zero , and the HoYoverse Experience Zone. Here's a look at the full haul obtained for finishing all challenges: Natlan is front and centre of the Genshin Impact booth, where Baby Saurians await to be knocked down in three attempts. Completing the challenge earns participants Baby Saurian hairclips (random design), one of the three offline rewards available – the hologram ticket with in-game rewards is given by showing their game UID, while posting a photo with any booth elements on any social media platform grants a character photo card. In celebration of the latest Version 3.4 release, Honkai: Star Rail puts Phainon and Amphoreus into focus. Show your game UID to the on-site staff via the in-game client or HoYoLab and receive a holographic ticket, complete daily active missions to earn a postcard, and follow the official social channels and share game-related posts to score a character card. Stealing hearts with its adorable demeanour, the Amillion Bangboo stands alongside both old and newer Zenless Zone Zero faces, from Nicole and Ellen Joe to Yi Xuan and Yuzuha (who also gets her own standee). Three challenges lay in wait here – take photos featuring booth elements and share them on social media to receive a lenticular card blind bag, show your UID to on-site staff for a holographic ticket, and follow the official Facebook account to redeem a random photocard bookmark. As a bonus, those who cosplay as a Zenless Zone Zero character and share on social media will walk away with a Bangboo headband. A Erdős Helia cutout greets Captains at the Honkai Impact 3rd installation, where they have to show their game UID to claim an event-exclusive laser ticket, personalise their share image on the HoYoFest website and share it on social media for Coins and an in-game keychain, and share photos of booth elements on social media for a surprise. HoYoFest 2025 takes place from 25 to 27 July at Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hall 406CXD. Si Jia is a casual geek at heart – or as casual as someone with Sephiroth's theme on her Spotify playlist can get. A fan of movies, games, and Japanese culture, Si Jia's greatest weakness is the Steam Summer Sale. Or any Steam sale, really. HoYoFest 2025 HoYoverse Singapore

Genshin Impact player full clears Spiral Abyss challenge on an Apple Watch

A Genshin Impact player has completed Floor 12 of the Spiral Abyss in version 5.8 using an Apple Watch, achieving a full nine-star score, a milestone that challenges even experienced players on high-end devices. The player shared their run on the Chinese video platform Bilibili, demonstrating how they cleared Genshin Impact's endgame content using the small Apple Watch screen. The device used appears to be the Apple Watch Ultra, which does not natively support the game. There is no official cloud version for the Apple Watch, suggesting the player likely used a paired iPhone or PC with remote access to stream the game to the device. This setup allowed control of the game through the watch while the processing was handled externally, turning the watch into a miniature console. Despite the hardware limitations and restricted screen size, the player managed to clear all three chambers of Floor 12 within the time limit. Spiral Abyss 5.8 presents a challenging environment, featuring high-HP world boss enemies such as the Secret Source Automaton: Overseer Device, Wayward Hermetic Spiritspeaker, and Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King. Clearing this floor with a nine-star score requires precise rotations and timing, which the player achieved despite the unconventional setup. Users on Bilibili praised the accomplishment, with one commenting, 'Someone that's truly strong never complains about their environment,' while another noted, 'He plays better than me playing on my mobile.'
