Birds of a Feather star claims BBC show 'didn't want me' as she details brutal snub

Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Birds of a Feather legend Lesley Joseph has claimed she was snubbed by a major BBC show when she expressed interest in participating. Known for her role as Dorien Green in the beloved sitcom, and her stint on Strictly Come Dancing, Lesley shared this revelation during a recent interview in which she discussed potential reality TV appearances. When quizzed about whether she would consider I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, the 79-year-old actress dismissed the idea of entering the Jungle merely to boost her profile, and instead named other types of shows she might be interested in. It also prompted her to share a tidbit about another hugely popular reality show on the BBC. Lesley apparently expressed an interest in the series, but she was ultimately turned down. (Image: BBC / Studio Lambert) Speaking to Bella magazine, Lesley said: "I don't particularly want to go into the Jungle just as a way to get my name back up there. I think some reality television can be very amusing and interesting - for example, Strictly and Dancing on Ice, when you've got people who are learning skills and entertaining. "Reality TV is slicing into drama, and I do think it's a very slippery slope if we go completely down that road. I wanted to take part in The Traitors, but they didn't want me." Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, The Traitors invites 22 strangers into a castle in the Scottish Highlands to compete in what the BBC describes as the "ultimate reality game of trust and treachery" for a cash prize of £120k. Launched last year, the programme has become a massive success story, with the broadcaster boasting a devoted viewership. It's been reported that the show's third series captivated an average of 10.3 million viewers across its dozen episodes. The psychological reality show has scooped up numerous accolades, such as the BAFTA TV Award for Best Reality and Constructed Factual and the Broadcasting Press Guild Award for Best Entertainment Programme. (Image: Getty Images for Sentebale) A star-studded special edition of the programme is in the pipeline, featuring a dazzling array of celebrities including the likes of Alan Carr, Charlotte Church, Clare Balding, Stephen Fry, and Paloma Faith. In another recent admission by Lesley, the actress opened up about her future in the entertainment industry. Speaking to Woman's Own, she said: "At my age, I don't know how much longer I have left in the business." She revealed that she's "still ambitious" but conceded that her "time is limited". Meanwhile, she also shared details about how she stays fit, explaining that she "walks everywhere". In addition, she does yoga, ensures she gets enough sleep and takes vitamins. Lesley also detailed how she has "a lot more to offer" and there are roles that she'd like to tackle prior to retirement, adding that she became "frustrated" with the label of "sitcom queen".

And it was a happy seven days for her, after she also passed her driving test. Over the past two years, she has worked with the country's leading fashion and jewellery brands in order to follow in her parents footsteps. She will now be hoping to show fans a different side to her with her brand new fly-on-the-wall series. Yet according to MailOnline, while Katie won't get a look-in, the programme will in fact feature her dad Peter Andre and his wife Emily. They said: "Katie will not be in Princess's show, the decision has been made and it's final. "Princess loves her mum, and they have a great relationship, but the show is all about her work and home life. "Television bosses were adamant that nothing was to be 'staged' to include Katie as it would not be a real and truthful insight into her life." Cameras will be tracking Princess' day to day movements prior to her 18th birthday in June. STAR QUALITY A TV insider said: 'Princess is very conscious of the fact her mum got famous very early in her career, so Katie is a big inspiration to her. 'Why do you need all that-' fans beg to know as Princess Andre shares lengthy skincare regime that costs a whopping £160 'Bagging her own TV show is a huge deal, but producers are keen to stress it is about her and not her famous parents." Katie and Peter started their relationship in 2004 after getting together on I'm A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here!. They had Junior and Princess during their four-year marriage. But their relationship fell apart in 2009 and they divorced. Who is Princess Andre and what's her job? Princess Andre born June 29, 2007, is the daughter of Mysterious Girl singer Peter Andre and former glamour model Katie Price. The pair also welcomed a son while they were together, Junior, born on June 13, 2005. Katie and Peter then split in early 2009, with their divorce being finalised in October of the same year. Princess also has six half siblings, four from Katie and two from Peter. As of June 2024, Princess has an impressive 750,000 followers on her Instagram account, @officialprincess_andre. Ahead of her 16th birthday, in June 2023, Princess opened up about what she wants to do with her future during a Q&A with fans and followers. The teen said she is seeking out "financial freedom" through her beauty and fashion brand deals, as well as her own jewellery brand named 'Sparkle' by Princess Andre. Katie recently spoke out about the difficulties co-parenting with popstar Pete. He then dropped a hint his family would be moving to Australia, where his parents are still based. 6 Although Princess has a 'great relationship' with Katie, the show is about her work Credit: Getty 6 She has collaborated with a number of fashion and jewellery brands Credit: princess_andre/Instagram

Helen Flanagan reveals age she'll STOP stripping & exactly what work she's had done as she lifts lid on Corrie return

Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) IT was the role on Corrie that propelled her to fame as a child before she left many years later to concentrate on motherhood — and now Helen Flanagan is convinced the time is right for her to return as sassy Rosie Webster. The actress has remained loyal to the show over the years, refusing to even consider going to a rival soap, and reckons ITV bosses 'need' her. 'I get on with everyone there. There's nothing personal going on. 'It changed my life so much and my loyalty is with them. I feel like Rosie's a part of me. 'They do need me. They do need Rosie.' Helen made her debut on the ITV soap as a nine-year-old in 2000. She first left the cobbles in 2012, returning in 2017, before exiting the following year to have her second child. While soap chiefs have officialy no plans to invite her back, she has since become a reality TV favourite, having wowed viewer in a white bikini on I'm A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here! in 2012, returning to the jungle for the All Stars edition a decade later, and looking for love on Celebs Go Dating last year. 'I think I would always do lingerie modelling' Her appearance on the E4 matchmaking series briefly landed her in hot water when it emerged she broke the rules by secretly being in a relationship from the start. She was allowed to carry on by bringing her construction boss lover Robbie Talbot on to the show with her — and the pair are still together. But Helen admits they struggle to co-parent her children Matilda, nine, Delilah, six, and Charlie, three, from her former relationship with Bristol Rovers footballer Scott Sinclair. Braless Helen Flanagan looks stunning in very daring plunging sheer lace dress for night out with boyfriend Robbie She says: 'Scott is from Bath and I live in North Manchester, so we co-parent five hours away. It is really hard work. 'My kids are really close to his mum and their side of the family and mine, so we've always done it separately. 'But I think it would be better if we could do it together. I'd like to live in the same city so we can actually just do it together. 'But I don't think co-parenting is easy. It's definitely a journey.' In the meantime, Helen has a job lined up over Christmas to distract her from not having her kids around for the festive period. She is also keen to appear on Celebrity Big Brother following this year's successful reboot because she reckons she would fit in as a housemate, describing herself as a 'people person, very social, very northern'. 6 Helen with partner Robbie Talbot on Instagram last month 6 Helen in the shower on I'm A Celeb in 2012 Credit: Rex But she knows that another reality show could stifle her ambitions to revive her career as an actress. Helen says: 'If you want to focus on your acting, I do think sometimes it can be hard going down the reality TV route to be taken seriously.' Another string to her bow is modelling. Helen, 34, posed topless in the Sun in 2013 then had a boob job in 2023 — and after being trolled in the past for stripping off, she is now inspired by older women who still dare to bare. She reveals: 'I love lingerie modelling. I think I'd always do it. 'I love women like Elizabeth Hurley and Amanda Holden. 'I love seeing really strong, powerful, beautiful, sexy women that aren't in their 20s and just really owning it. 'I would definitely be like that into my sixties. Well, I hope so, anyway. That will always be my vibe.' And she encourages other women to strip off for the camera, no matter their age, if it will make them feel empowered. Helen explains: 'I would never say anything negative about another person I'm all for supporting women, lifting them up, empowering them. I'm very much a girls' girl as well. 'I think it's nice for women to feel empowered and I'm all for women feeling beautiful and feeling sexy. Why not? 'I don't do it for men. I do it for me, so I feel nice.' 6 Helen as Rosie Webster with Richard Fleeshman as Craig Harris on Corrie Credit: Rex 6 Helen's character Rosie scraps with teacher John Stape, played by Graeme Hawley Credit: Handout Nevertheless, she draws the line at joining OnlyFans and posting explicit photos and videos like some other famous women. She says: 'I'm a grown woman, but I've got Catholic parents as well. 'I think now with OnlyFans, there are other things attached to it than just lingerie modelling. It's not something for me.' She isn't even tempted to take pics of her tootsies and sell them like Lily Allen does, joking: 'I've got fat feet and fat hands.' Helen is often accused of getting loads of cosmetic work on her face but insists that aside from Botox, she has had very little else done. She reveals: 'I've only had the teeniest little bit of filler on my top lip. But my lips are actually naturally quite full. 'Even if I did have loads of filler in my lips, who cares? 'I would never, ever troll anyone.'
