€140 Child Benefit EARLY payment date shake-up in WEEKS for 650k Irish families amid €280 lump sum update

THOUSANDS of families across the country are set to see a monthly social welfare payment arrive early this year. The €140 payment, which is usually handed out on the first Tuesday of every month, will now be available to Irish families on a Friday due to a schedule shake-up in just a few weeks time. 2 Thousands of families will benefit Credit: Getty The And each child gets a payment, meaning parents with multiple children receive the sum multiple times. The payment amounts to €140 per child. And while it was set to arrive on Monday, June 2, it's now to be paid out on Friday, May 30. Child Benefit payments can be picked up 108 days after the recipient is set up to recieve the sum. MOST READ ON THE IRISH SUN There a number of ways you can choose from to recieve the payment. New online application system opens for €360 or €180 Domiciliary Care Allowance applications PAYMENT OPTIONS A Financial Institution payment means that your social welfare payment can be paid by Electronic Funds Transfer directly into your personal bank account at a bank, building society or at certain credit unions. It's then handed to you in Or, you can opt for the cheque method, although this can only be done in "exceptional circumstances" or to pay arrears. The New Baby Grant, which usually lands on the first Tuesday of each month, is handed out alongside the Child Benefit Payment for new parents. But because the child benefit is being handed out early this year, so is the New Baby Grant. It means that new parents will receive the €280 sum early, on the same date as the Child Benefit Payment. €150 LUMP SUM GRANT Another major payment is also set to come in for those eligible on June 5. The The Carer's Support Grant is non means tested payment which is paid out by the Department of Social Protection. The payment is made in a lump sum of €150 to those eligible. Those who qualify are those who are over 16 and live in Ireland full time. They must be caring for someone on a full time basis and have been their carer for at least six months. And the six month period must include the first Thursday in June, when the payment will be sent out. The recipient of the payment must be living with the person they care for or be easily accessed by them. The crisp and dry palate, has some complexity, a wonderfully refreshing tang, with nice strawberry, cranberry and citrus notes. Very pleasurable finish. Enjoy with: Fresh summer salads. Star rating: **** Running Duck Organic Shiraz 2023 (ABV 12.5%) 7 Currently €14.99 Grape: Shiraz FROM South Africa's Western Cape comes this medium-bodied, fruit-forward red, with a little bite. Deep garnet in the glass, it has ripe black fruit aromas (plum and blackberries) along with some spice. The palate is well balanced, with blackcurrant, cherry, black pepper, chocolate and spice notes. The tannins are yielding, and the medium length is quite satisfying.
