NBA insider reveals what San Antonio Spurs are expected to do with second pick in 2025 NBA Draft
The San Antonio Spurs were one of the biggest losers of the draft lottery once again, moving up to land the second overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. While there are a few directions the organization could go with the selection, many around the league already believe they know what will happen. ESPN's Jeremy Woo writes that while there is 'wide speculation' San Antonio will field trade calls on the No. 2 pick, the expectation around the league is the team will select guard Dylan Harper. Advertisement Related: San Antonio Spurs expected to pursue two superstars this summer While San Antonio has been viewed as a potential landing spot for Giannis Antetokounmpo, he still hasn't asked the Milwaukee Bucks to trade him. Even if he does, the Spurs could still take a long-term approach with their rebuild and retain their top assets. It's also been made clear that the De'Aaron Fox trade last February won't stand in the way of the Spurs drafting Harper. San Antonio would likely run a backcourt of Fox and reigning NBA Rookie of the Year guard Stephon Castle, while Booker comes off the bench. Related: Spurs expected to be eyeing specific 2025 NBA Draft target San Antonio has been previously linked to Kevin Durant, who could be made available this summer by the Phoenix Suns. He wouldn't cost the second overall pick, but the 36-year-old forward also might not align with the club's timeline. Advertisement Ultimately, it seems like the Spurs are going to stick with a very patient approach to building this team. Harper will likely be part of the rotation next season and if he plays well, it could allow San Antonio to opt against giving Fox a max contract. Tyrese Haliburton puts on triple-double show with dad back in building: ‘Makes it more sweet'
INDIANAPOLIS — Tyrese Haliburton's previously banned father was back in the building, and so, too, was the All-Star point guard's electrifying all-around game. John Haliburton was permitted by the Pacers to return to Gainbridge Fieldhouse following a first-round altercation with Giannis Antetokounmpo, and he got to see his son put on an absolute show with his first triple-double of these playoffs in Indiana's 130-121 victory Tuesday night in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals. Advertisement 'Hell yeah, I'm glad Pops [is] in the building, man, makes it more sweet,' Haliburton said during a postgame interview on TNT. 'Definitely had something to do with it.' John Haliburton, who had confronted Antetokounmpo on the court after Pacers' clinching Game 5 win in the first round against the Bucks on April 29, took in the game from a luxury suite after not attending any of the five games against Cleveland nor the first three games of this series. Tyrese Haliburton called out his father's behavior at the time, and John also issued an apology to both Antetokounmpo and to the Bucks. Just how realistic would a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade to the Boston Celtics be?
Just how realistic would a Giannis Antetokounmpo trade to the Boston Celtics be? We have heard some speculation from well-connected members of the national NBA media suggest that such a swap with the Milwaukee Bucks could be on the table given the potential return for the Bucks would match the sort of ask they would have in mind for the Greek Freak. But what about in the other direction? Would Boston be up to trade away the sort of package it would take to get Giannis on the Celtics roster given it would almost certainly require dealing away star Boston forward Jaylen Brown? Sherrod Blakely and John Zannis debated such a deal and its merits on a recent episode of their show. Check it out below!
