Oliver Glasner casts doubt on Crystal Palace future by delaying contract update
Crystal Palace will be keen to tie die Oliver Glasner to a new deal after th Austrian helped the Eagles win their first majory trophy with an FA Cup win over Manchester City at Wembley Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is stalling on signing a new contract until he discovers how strongly he will be backed in the transfer market. The Eagles boss guided the south London side to a first major trophy with FA Cup glory last month. Glasner's current deal runs until 2026 and unsurprisingly he has drawn interest from around Europe following his success. The likes of Tottenham and RB Leipzig have been linked to his signature. The 50-year-old head coach established he is in no rush to secure his future following the win at Wembley, over Manchester City. Asked about agreeing a new contract, Glasner said: 'I have one more year on my contract so we are not in a rush.' The Austrian doubled down on that approach ahead of the final game on the season. Glasner did confirmed he was 100 per cent committed to Palace's plans. "I'm just talking about the future and about what we are planning,' Glasner said. "I'm 100 per cent committed to these plans, so (I have) no thoughts about something different. "I have one more year left. We speak about next season. I have a contract here. We speak about pre-season. This is in the next three, four months. 'So everything that happens after 1st of July, 2026 we don't talk about this at the moment because it's too far away. We are talking about what happens this year, and that's why I'm 100 per cent committed, because I have a contract and I have other things on my mind.' But reports claim he wants clear assurances over summer signings before allowing contract talks progress to the next stage. That would come after frustrations Glasner suffered last season that saw a slow start to the season. 'It's not a public discussion- I've already mentioned it several times. We could have done better in the transfer window," he said last term. 'With four signings on deadline day, it's not how you wish a transfer window would work.' The news comes as Crystal Palace meet UEFA big wigs in Switzerland on Tuesday to discuss whether the side can compete in next season's Europa League. American John Textor owns around 43 per cent of the FA Cup winners and is the majority shareholder at Lyon, who have qualified for the same competition. UEFA rules state that clubs with the same owners are not permitted to participate in the same competition. Nevertheless, Palace are confident that they will be cleared to compete but must prove no resources or personnel are shared between the clubs, with no direct influence from Textor.

Ange Postecoglou sack decision latest and betting odds on next Tottenham manager
Tottenham Hotspur's silence on Ange Postecoglou's future as manager beyond the 2025/26 season has sparked speculation, despite him leading the team to a historic Europa League victory over Manchester United in Bilbao. The Greek-Australian gaffer, who ended Spurs' 17-year trophy drought, expressed his bewilderment at the lack of clarity from the club. "I will be honest I have been finding it really weird talking about my future when we have done something unprecedented. I have had to answer the questions because no one else at the club is in the position to do so I guess," Postecoglou remarked following the 4-1 loss to Brighton. "But I can't answer that question about me and my future. Like I said, part of me is thinking 'why am I even being asked that question?' But it is what it is. "I have got no doubt though that this could be a real defining moment for this club because wherever I have been I have made an impact where I have brought success to a club that hasn't had it for a while. You just have to look at those clubs' trajectory even after I left, they are still competing for things", reports Football London. "I really think this is a moment in time where this club could push on and be a real contender for honours on a yearly basis." Nonetheless, the 37 games prior to that look set to be taken into account with the club needing to soon make a final manager decision as they are being left behind in the transfer market. Speculation around potential new bosses for Tottenham is rife with Fulham's Marco Silva, Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner, and Brentford's Thomas Frank all rumoured to be in the running. Bet365's latest odds have these gents leading the pack for who might be at the helm come August 16, 2025. While Postecoglou staying on is pegged as most likely at odds of 4/6, Frank is nipping at his heels with a 5/4 chance, and Glasner is a longer shot at 16/1. Matching Glasner's odds is Simone Inzaghi of Inter Milan, despite the questions surrounding his commitment amidst interests from Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal. "We are lucky to work in a wonderful club with guys who are great footballers and great men," Inzaghi expressed when grilled about the gossip. "In these four years, they have given me everything they had. We have won, we have lost, but there is this strong attachment that is what I like and makes me feel calm. "The senior management are here [in Munich for the Champions League final], but we'll have a chat next week in a relaxed manner. We will always have the best interest of Inter at heart." After the humbling 5-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, which now means Spurs will face PSG inthe UEFA Super Cup, he was again asked about a potential Middle East switch. "As I was saying before to your colleague, I cannot answer this question now," he said. "I came here out of respect for you, for politeness, because I am hurting from a sporting point of view. It's not the right time to talk about the future. We are extremely disappointed, and since July of last year we've played 58 or 59 games, we got to this final match, so it's awkward to talk about my future now. "Again, we are extremely disappointed. We will be talking about the fact that we won no silverware this year, but these players deserve great credit because they gave it their very best shot, and we suffered a lot of injuries. I wouldn't change these players for anyone else." Despite the speculation surrounding Inzaghi's future, former Barcelona head coach Xavi and Valencia manager Carlos Corberan are also reportedly in contention, with bookies offering odds of 8/1 and 10/1 respectively.

Crystal Palace keep party going as Eze's glorious goal wraps up win over Wolves
Afterparty at the Palace, a gala night of celebration at Selhurst Park. If this is a Premier League season that has, in the view of its critics, featured far too little jeopardy, then this result mattered little but the evening will be remembered as the night Crystal Palace brought the FA Cup home. For the record, Palace were victors via two goals from Eddie Nketiah, a deflected free-kick and another Eberechi Eze strike. In truth, the main event did not arrive until after full time and the end of Selhurst Park's 101-year wait to show off a major trophy. Related: David Squires on … moving scenes and mind games as Crystal Palace win the FA Cup Eagles supporters can now dream of next season's European tour, the club's first, with the hope and expectation the precise but emotionally charged leadership of Oliver Glasner will lead them into that promised land. As fans waited for a glimpse of the Cup, the Europa League anthem played over the PA system. Joel Ward, Palace's longest-serving player of 13 years, had led the team out at kick-off, his 364th appearance. Here, at last, was the night denied to Palace fans in 1990 and 2016. Alan Pardew, player and manager in those losing finalist teams, was sat in the stands between former teammate Mark Bright and club chairman Steve Parish. Ward, emerging from the dressing room, eventually ran out to present the trophy to the Holmesdale Road Stand, before being given a farewell led by an emotional Parish. 'I feel honoured and incredibly blessed,' Ward said. 'There's a belief in that changing room and I'm sure these lads will take this club forwards.' Of Wembley's heroes, Dean Henderson played in goal, and Daniel Muñoz continued his raids down the right flank. Two January additions to 'Oliver's Army' in Ben Chilwell and Romain Esse, were handed first Premier League starts. Marc Guehi and Adam Wharton, missing through concussion protocols, were hailed from the stands when joining the post-match festivities. 'You always supported us, and that's why we could write history,' Glasner told Eagles fans. They had implored him all evening to give them a wave. 'It was a fantastic atmosphere,' he said, clearly unused to the traditions of English football support. 'Everybody shouted my name and I didn't know what they wanted and someone said I should wave. We always want everyone to have a great time at Selhurst Park and that they are happy.' Palace had also reached their highest Premier League points total. Eze and Jean-Philippe Mateta, so important in beating Manchester City at Wembley, were among those given deserved rests until later. So too Daichi Kamada, faithful, trusted Glasner lieutenant. With Wolves safe for some weeks, their coach Vitor Pereira also played an experimental team, handing a first Premier League start for the defender, Nasser Djiga. Next season at Wolves is awaited with optimism even if their coach's CV suggests he usually stays for a good time rather than a long time. 'We offered gifts to them,' he said, unimpressed by his team's performance. His defensive partner, Emmanuel Agbadou, scored Wolves' 25th-minute opener, his neck muscles doing enough to power the ball inches over the line. That did nothing to quieten Palace fans. Within three minutes, Nketiah's sharp finish drew the scores level. The south Londoner has been a slow burner but grasped his chance to shine with Muñoz and Ismaïla Sarr combining for his second. 'Everyone was firing and we got the win,' said Nketiah, on reaching 50 career goals. 'The unity between the fans and the players is amazing. It will be amazing to have European nights here.' Within five minutes of the second half, Chilwell had scored his first Palace goal, his free-kick deflecting off Agbadou. Those in the Holmesdale Road Stand, shirts off now, paying little attention to the football, maintained their drum rhythm when Jørgen Strand Larsen scored a looping header. That proved the Norwegian's last action; Matheus Cunha was thrown on. When a tearful Ward was substituted in the 71st minute, Selhurst Park stood as one. Parish could be seen wiping his eyes. As the players departed for their post-match lap of appreciation, Glasner and Ward, walking, talking together, got the loudest roar, Eze not far behind in appreciation. He had just shown that Wembley was no fluke – as if anyone could think that of one of English football's best players. As Wolves threatened an equaliser, on came Eze. Soon enough, he was gliding through defenders with the grace that makes him both killer and stadium filler, giving the Wolves goalkeeper Dan Bentley no chance with a lovely, disguised finish. After that, Selhurst's celebrations could truly begin.
