Miley Cyrus's Brand New Song Can't Beat Her Years-Old Smash
Just days before her new album Something Beautiful arrives, Miley Cyrus delivered what appears to be the final promotional tune from the project: 'More to Lose.' Dropped with enough time to reach the Billboard charts before fans rush to buy and stream the full-length, the ballad sadly didn't perform very well via any major metric. One statistic, in particular, underlines just how lackluster a debut it has been forced to settle for. 'More to Lose' launches on the Billboard Global 200 this week at No. 168. The track doesn't manage to land on the accompanying list, the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., which is unusual, given the typical overlap between the two tallies. Cyrus fills two spaces on the Billboard Global 200 this week, and 'More to Lose' isn't the higher-ranking of the pair. Its predecessor, 'End of the World' — the lead single from Something Beautiful — isn't beating it either. Instead, 'Flowers,' the first taste of Cyrus's previous album Endless Summer Vacation, is winning at the moment. That blockbuster steps up three spaces on the Billboard Global 200 to No. 146 and performs even better on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., where it surges to No. 135. It's rather shocking that 'Flowers' is outperforming all of Cyrus's new music around the world. Not only does it beat 'More to Lose' in what will likely be that track's biggest frame on the tally, but it does so 122 weeks into its time on the Billboard Global 200. 'End of the World,' which received the bulk of the promotion might behind Cyrus this time around, peaked at No. 43 on the ranking, just missing out on the top 40. It then disappeared after just four stays on the list. 'More to Lose' doesn't fare much better when it comes to U.S.-focused charts. It only manages to appear on the Bubbling Under Hot 100, coming in at No. 5 on that ranking, which looks at the biggest hits in the U.S. that couldn't quite make it to the main Hot 100. 'End of the World,' meanwhile, may be reaching its zenith on the pop radio rankings. It keeps at its all-time high on both the Pop Airplay and Adult Contemporary charts while stepping up one spot to a new peak on the Adult Pop Airplay roster.

Ed Sheeran's Career-Defining Single Soars Higher Than Ever As It Turns 10 Years Old
A decade ago, Ed Sheeran released what would go on to become one of the most familiar singles in his catalog — and that's saying a lot for the English singer-songwriter, who has recorded some of the biggest hits of the past 10 to 15 years in pop music. 'Photograph' was pushed as the final focus track from his album x (officially titled Multiply), and as the tune turns 10 years old, fans around the world are revisiting it. They have collectively not only turned it into a hit again, but pushed it to a new peak. 'Photograph' appears on both of Billboard's worldwide rankings this frame. It reenters the Billboard Global 200 at No. 197, which isn't far from its all-time best showing of No. 186. At the same time, it soars on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., the tally that does not include streaming activity or sales data from the United States. There, the tune jumps 20 spaces to a new peak of No. 126. 'Photograph' has spent much more time as a worldwide hit when American activity is excluded. The Sheeran cut has now spent 77 weeks on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., including this frame. In contrast, it has only racked up four appearances on the Billboard Global 200, adding to that sum as it returns. 'Photograph' is one of five of Sheeran's singles to appear on both global rosters this frame. That roundup includes a mix of his two current focus tracks, which preview his upcoming album Play, as well as several other fan favorites. 'Azizam' and 'Old Phone' are declining after only a few frames of activity, while both 'Perfect' and 'Shape of You' have spent more than 200 frames on both rankings. Impressively, those two latter tracks — also many years old — join 'Photograph' in climbing on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., though the same can't be said for the Billboard Global 200.
