Camila Cabello throws shade at Fifth Harmony amid reports of group's reunion without her
Camila Cabello posted a TikTok video on May 29 dancing to the chorus of 'Gnarly,' the debut single from rising girl group KATSEYE. In the video, Cabello can be seen playfully dancinf to the beat in a bathroom, as the caption overhead reads: 'might just be the ex girl group member in me but ive been doing this in my bathroom for the past 3 hours now.' The timing of the post caught attention, as it coincided with news that Fifth Harmony—Cabello's former group—is planning a reunion without her. According to reports, the group is set to reassemble in 2026 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their hit single 'Work From Home' and the album 7/27. Normani, Ally Brooke, Dinah Jane, and Lauren Jauregui are said to be involved in the comeback, which includes plans for a documentary and tour. Cabello, who departed Fifth Harmony in 2016 and gave up rights to the group's name, made no direct mention of the reunion. Still, the caption's reference to being an 'ex girl group member' and her decision to spotlight a new girl group's track on the same day stirred speculation. The reunion is reportedly being managed by Will Bracey, Ally Brooke's husband and COO of the Justin Bieber family office.

KATSEYE's Megan Skiendiel Knows How to Maintain a Hime Cut
Bea Oyster Between KATSEYE member Megan Skiendiel's signature hime cut and Billie Eilish's jellyfish cut, asymmetrical hairstyles are having a moment. And, when Megan swapped her iconic orange hue for a duochrome look that accentuated her short layers, she took the trend to the next level. On April 3, Italian luxury label Fendi revealed its new campaign with KATSEYE, which showcases the brand's signature Baguette and Peekaboo bags. To make the colorful bags pop, the members each wore a simple black tank top, but the matching moment didn't end there. Sophia, Manon, Daniela, Lara, Megan, and Yoonchae all debuted long dark hair with bangs, which was especially exciting as fans were already speculating that the members were hiding new hairstyles for their next comeback. Megan, however, put a twist on the look, and it might just inspire us to head to the salon. She kept her signature hime cut intact, opting to blend it into her bangs for a three-tiered look. Plus, she dyed just the bangs and the short layers a light rose gold hue, giving the look a pop of color and an edgy twist. The money piece trend, where you dye part of your face-framing hair, isn't exactly new — it became big in the early 2020s with stars like Dua Lipa giving it their cosign. However, this dyed bangs money piece iteration takes it to another level. We've seen stars like Paramore's Hayley Williams and Lily Allen try it in the past, and it might just be the twist that reinvigorates the trend and inspires the buzzy look of 2025. (After all, the 2010s are coming back!) Just like the group's hit song 'Gnarly,' you might not quite get these uneven styles at first glance. But step mullets, tiered layers, jellyfish cuts, and the hime cut have been steadily gaining popularity over the past few years. And with these celebs not only wearing them but doubling down on them, it seems like they're not going anywhere anytime soon. So, if you're feeling tempted to give the hime cut a try, we've got you covered. Here's everything you need to know about the hime cut. A hime cut is a long hairstyle that features short face-framing layers and oftentimes bangs. Unlike a jellyfish cut, which has short layers that go all around the head, the hime cut only has short layers in the front. The hime cut's popularity comes from Japan. With idols, influencers, and even anime characters wearing the look, it has spread worldwide, gaining momentum around the world. In KATSEYE's Teen Vogue cover interview, Megan recapped the process behind keeping her hime cut intact. 'I always have to get my hair — my bangs and the hime — cut, always making sure that it's blunt. I always have to cut it to make sure it's even.' Now that she has added color to it, ensuring it's healthy requires a few additional steps. 'I try not to wash it every single day so it doesn't get super, super dry,' she says. 'And I use a lot of oil and hair masks. And then especially with this new pink, since it's not super pigmented, I always have to dye it every single time I shower. Every time I shower, I need to dye it for an hour and then shower. So it's a lot, but it's fun. It's really cool.' There are multiple ways to style a hime cut. You can opt for super sleek chic and go for totally straight hair. Or, add a little bump to the end for a dynamic take like Megan's. Opt for some waves or curls to add some extra flair to the look. If you want your hime cut to pop, consider adding some color to the money pieces like Megan's as well. Read more about Megan and KATSEYE's personal style in their cover story . KATSEYE's Daniela Avanzini Reveals How She Does Her Signature TikTok Viral Eyeliner
Bea Oyster Just like Manon inspired TikTok users to try a new eyebrow shape and Sophia sent fans on a goose chase to find her lip gloss, Daniela Avanzini is the latest KATSEYE member to be causing a stir in the beauty world. Between all the buzz about their hit song 'Gnarly,' KATSEYE fans, nicknamed EYEKONS, found themselves enchanted by Daniela's eyeliner, perhaps because of her close-up in the performance choreography. Our TikTok 'For You' pages are filled with people hoping it will become the next big trend. Luckily, we caught up with Daniela on the set of our Teen Vogue cover shoot and talked all about her eyeliner routine, so we have all the deets you need to know about the look to recreate it at home. 'I'll take a thick black pencil liner, and I'll go in my waterline under and sometimes I'll go on top inside, not on the outside,' Daniela tells Teen Vogue. 'I'll go literally in my eye all black, and then I'll do a small thin wing on the outside, diagonally up. And then the most important part, the inner corner.' The small downward point — the key is to go downward, not straight out, she emphasizes — in the inner corner is essential to the look. 'I feel like it also gives me that siren eye, which I absolutely love,' she says, referring to the TikTok trend that inspired her. 'I love, love, love my eyes to look like this, because it's so sexy and fierce and c*nty.' In KATSEYE's cover story, Daniela Avanzini also notes how she was inspired by the way her mother used to do her makeup for her ballroom dance performances. She reveals that she hated it at the time, but she grew up to realize that the heavier makeup made all the difference when she performs on the stage. Katseye Talk 'Gnarly', Makeup Hacks & Their Go-To Glossier Products
All linked products are independently selected by our editors. If you purchase any of these products, we may earn a commission. Glossier is a brand that has its finger firmly on the pulse. It pioneered the minimalist, "your skin, but better" look that has dominated the beauty trend cycle for years. There's also the cult-favourite You perfume, an intimate, musky fragrance that ignited the demand for skin-like scents. And, who can forget when the brand tapped a then up-and-coming Olivia Rodrigo as its first-ever celebrity spokesperson? So when we caught wind that the brand teamed up with pop girl group Katseye for the launch of its new product, a cooling lip oil named Lip Glaze, £22, we immediately knew that this was newsworthy on all fronts. If you haven't heard of Katseye, start taking notes now: the rising girl group of the moment is poised to become the Spice Girls of the social media age. Its six members — Sophia Laforteza, Lara Raj, Meret Manon Bannerman, Daniela Avanzini, Megan Skiendiel and Yoonchae Jeung — hail from all over the world, after successfully competing in Netflix's Pop Star Academy, a K-pop style survival talent show. The group's newest release, a campy earworm of a club banger named " Gnarly", has entered the Billboard Hot 100 and Spotify Global Charts. Off the success of the group's latest single and the launch of Lip Glaze, we talked all things beauty with Katseye, from their secret skincare habits to the Glossier products they never go without. R29: How do you personally define the word "gnarly"? From the lyrics of your new single, it feels open to so many interpretations. Sophia Laforteza: A recent slang word that I've been using a lot is 'ew'. You know how when people think of the word 'ew', they think it's gross and disgusting? But I've been using it when something absolutely eats, like when someone's blush looks amazing. That eventually turned into using the word 'gnarly' to describe something that looks really good. There's a duality to 'gnarly'; you can definitely use it in a good way and in a bad way. R29: How are you finding the response to "Gnarly"? There were lots of extreme reactions and memes at first, but the song has really caught on. Lara Raj: It's been overwhelming and exciting. To be so real with you, people were really jarred by the song at first, so that was pretty hard for us. But [the turnaround in fan opinion] happened in the span of one day, when we did our first live performance in Korea. I think that because "Gnarly" is such a talking song, the visual part of the performance is something that the song needs. It's definitely been a rollercoaster for us, but we also understood the fans' perspective: when we first heard the song, we were like, "Wow, this is so different!', and it's something that gags you a little bit. We're so grateful to see how many people are loving it now and the success that it's bringing to us. R29: Let's chat a bit more about beauty. In your GRWM video with Glossier, Manon talked about her love for shaved brows. Do you have any tips on how to do this perfectly? Meret Manon Bannerman: I just love the straight brow look; it makes my face look snatched and more awake. Here's what I do: I shave off the top edge of my brow [where there's typically a natural arch] and I use a brow pencil to draw on the ends, so it looks more straight. PSA: You have to be very careful, or they might not end up looking good. But my members have all done it and they all look amazing, so I honestly feel like everyone should try having straight brows. R29: Since you spend so much time together, what are some cool beauty tips you've picked up from each other? SL: Lara loves using her eyeliner pencil as a lip liner. LR: Yeah, it's because it stays on so much longer than regular lip products. I'm obsessed with Glossier's No. 1 Pencil, £18, in the shade Frame. It's a neutral dark brown that looks kind of ashy. I love to overline my lips with it and sometimes use it to draw freckles, too. I also put mascara on my eyebrows: it's literally a brush that has colour on it, and it works so well for brushing your brows. Another tip I have is to use highlighter as my eye shadow. I have naturally darker eyelids, so highlighter tends to brighten them up. R29: Blush is having such a big moment. What are some of your favourite blush placements? Daniela Avanzini: Surprisingly, I don't really use blush. I apply bronzer as my blush; it warms up my skin and helps me look more tanned. Yoonchae Jeung: I do Korean-style makeup, which tends to look softer and sweeter than Western makeup. So I like to put blush right below my eyes, on my chin, sometimes even on my forehead. It helps your makeup look more even and perfectly matched. MMB: I think I suffer from blush blindness and that's okay. I apply powder blush all over my nose and eyelids to create that pretty, slightly sunburnt look. Megan Skiendiel: After my ginger blonde situation last year [for the group's hit summer song, "Touch"], it was very smart of me to dye my hair black and pink. It looked really cool and I wanted to keep my hair healthy. I'd love to go platinum blonde next, but dye the ends jet black. R29: What's one beauty habit your fans might not know about? SL: One thing about me is that I will never let my lips get chapped. I just can't focus when my lips are dry, and I use my lips to tell if I'm not drinking enough water. I love putting on a super thick layer of Glossier's Lip Glaze, £22, before going to bed, and exfoliating my lips in the morning. When I wake up in the middle of the night to drink more water, I will always top it up, or put on Glossier's Balm Dotcom, £16. I think that's what makes my lips look plump and glossy all the time; it really comes from how I take care of my lips. R29: Last but not least, which Glossier products can't you live without? MBB: Mine is the Futuredew Oil-Serum Illuminator, £26. It just gives me such a gorgeous glow and I just feel good putting it on. It also smells amazing. YJ: I really love Boy Brow, £22. The brand offers one in grey, which is so hard to find and looks so natural on my darker brows. LR: I'm literally wearing a full face of Glossier right now, but I think my favourite has to be the Stretch Concealer, £22. It's so full coverage, and yet it feels like nothing on my skin and covers up literally everything. I also love that it comes in a teeny-tiny pot. MS: The Birthday flavour of Balm Dotcom, £16, has been my go-to ever since middle school. I recently lost mine and felt so sad that I went to the store to replace it immediately. The scent is so delicious and I feel nice putting it on. DA: I have really dry skin, and The Stretch Fluid Foundation, £34, is the first foundation that I genuinely liked. It's super hydrating and creamy, and I'd definitely recommend that to anyone with dry skin. I also wear the Glossier You Fleur Eau de Parfum, £70, every single day. SL: I love Cloud Paint, £22, as a blush, but I also like putting a little bit of it over my eyeshadow and on my lips. It makes my makeup look more cohesive.

Katseye Reveal Their Secret Lip Combos—and Admit ‘Gnarly' Is ‘Not a Song for Everyone'
Every item on this page was chosen by an ELLE editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy. Have you found yourself saying 'gnarly' quite a bit recently? If so, it's probably thanks to the global girl group Katseye. Birthed through the tears and tribulations of winning The Debut: Dream Academy (a talent reality show which whittled down 120,000 hopeful applicants into six), Katseye members Lara Raj, Daniela Avanzini, Sophia Laforteza, Manon Bannerman, Yoon-chae Jeung, and Megan Skiendiel each came from a different part of the world to form one happy, mega-pop family. Lara tells me, 'It's like Manon has said, 'We're a friend group that somehow got famous and made music together.'' They've also continued to bond through shared experience, no matter how exciting or strange. Their most recent hit, 'Gnarly,' widely confused the internet. Upon first reception, people were puzzled by the unusual lyrics (which include repeating the word 'gnarly' up to 40 times). But over the past few weeks, the song has become a TikTok ear worm, with singers and fans like Laufey praising the track and creating their own versions. Now that the world has come around to their side, Katseye is partnering with beauty brand Glossier as the new faces of Lip Glaze, a serum-like lip oil, and just announced their second album, Beautiful Chaos. ELLE talked to the group about their secret lip combos, their feelings on the 'Gnarly' about-face, and why chaos can be beautiful. Manon: Recently, we've all been rocking straight brows. Lara: Manon did it, and it is kind of her thing. Mine was definitely in the SIS and 'Touch' era. It wasn't my look. I was so inspired by her and thought it looked so cute and snatched so well. Then I tried it, and it was not 'it.' But for some people, like her, it really gives. Sophia, the internet has widely requested your lip combo. Can you share what it is? Sophia: My lip combo is literally not a combo. It's literally just lip care. I always say, 'You will never gonna catch me with a chapped lip.' If your lips are hydrated, it makes anything that you put on your lips look good. When I sleep, I use a thick, thick lip mask, and I look crazy. When I wake up, I exfoliate, and put on a lip oil like the Lip Glaze, so it sits perfectly. So you don't use a lip liner? Sophia: No. Lip hydration is my secret. When I don't drink enough water, my lips get a little more dull [in color]. When I do drink water, the natural pink of my lips comes out. I can tell how I'm taking care of myself [by what color] my lips [are.] I don't know how to use lip liner. Actually, I was trying to do Lara's brown lip liner on myself, and then I looked crazy. It was not my thing. What are your various lip combos? Daniela: For me, I use the Anastasia Lip Liner in mauve. I either use a lip balm or Aquaphor, and then I'll use the Lip Glaze and blend it all out. Or if I want more of a matte [look], I'll put some balm on my finger and tap it in, so that it still smears around but isn't that glossy. Lara: Recently I've been using Cloud Paint in the center of my lips. Then I always do a brown lip liner—literally any brand, from the drugstore or Amazon. It just needs to be dark brown. Then I'll over line, and I'll use the Lip Glaze or the Laneige mask, and I'll put it on over top. Yoon-chae: I put foundation on first. I use a soft, lighter pink lip liner. Then I'll put on a really soft, light color lip balm and a lip tint in the center. Megan: I didn't really have a lip routine because I didn't really like the feeling of anything on my lips. Now, I'll put on more sheer things, like the Lip Glaze or Clinique Black Honey. Manon: I'm the same as Megan. I just use Aquaphor. Manon, you've said that people might be 'in shock' after hearing your most recent song, 'Gnarly.' What did you mean by that? Manon: We felt like people had to see the performance, and us dancing it, because it is such a performance-heavy song. At first, they were a little shocked, which I get. We were too. But also, it's not a song for everyone, and that's totally okay. It doesn't need to be. We don't want to shove it down anyone's throat. It's a very weird, odd song, and if you get it, you get it, and if you don't, you don't. Lara: I feel like the song's purpose is more of a statement. Yes, I blast 'Gnarly' in my car all the time, and I love to listen to it. But for some people, it doesn't digest as much as a [regular] listening song. The purpose of the song is to show our identity as Katseye. This is our new era. What kind of statement do you think 'Gnarly' makes? Lara: 'Gnarly' is very jarring, but it's also carefree. It's chaotic, and that's the whole message of this new era: beautiful chaos. This who we truly are as Katsye. We're loud, funny, and always extremely, extremely chaotic. As we've developed our identity as a group, we've learned that more and more. We tried a lot in the early days to be cool and nonchalant, shove down that part of ourselves, but I don't think we could. 'Gnarly' is the perfect way to show that and own it. Megan: We have a lot of moments where we're [high frequency] and we're like, 'Oh my god, we have to reel it back. Let's gain back the aura.' But every time that we try to do that, we literally can't. It's in our personalities to just be loud and crazy, and we have just decided to embrace that at this point. Sophia: We have tried. When we do fan meets, we used to be like, 'Okay guys, we have to be like mystical beings.' But when we get there, we're yelling and [acting like we are] hanging out with our besties. We are cheesing. When we come out on the stage, we're supposed to be like, Aura. But then we start smiling so big that our photos are like [extremely huge smiles]. Lara: A big reason for this is that we are genuinely friends with each other. With each day, we become closer. That really shows, and it's hard to suppress. You've said that the word 'gnarly' can have many meanings and be open to interpretation. Do you feel like that's also the case with the word 'chaos'? Sophia: When you think chaos, it gets messy and [feels like] a lot, as in, there's so much going on. It's overwhelming. We define it by putting it along with the word beautiful. Beautiful chaos [means] even though it's all over the place, it's something that is truly captivating. It's beautiful because there is a juxtaposition of push and pull. Individually, each of us are beautifully chaotic. Do you have an overall theme for your makeup looks for your videos? Lara: Before each show or video, there's always some sort of mood or Pinterest board. It has an overall cohesive look. [For example,] we are all going to do a really bold eye look. Our makeup artists always find a way to individualize it for each of us. Can you guys tease anything from the mood board for your next song? Lara: I will say: a red lip. This interview has been edited and condensed for clarity.
