With this change, the exams from Class III to IX in all state board-affiliated schools will take place in Oct. While the exam paper for the Class IX exams for all schools is set by the Goa Board since last year as part of the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), from Class III to VIII a common question paper and schedule will be provided by the SCERT. 'As requested by the Headmasters' Forum and the GSCERT, the revised date sheet is issued, ensuring that the common examination to be conducted by the GSCERT for Class III to VIII will coincide with the examination schedule of Class IX,' said the Goa Board in its circular this week. The exam for Classes III and IV will begin on Oct 9, and for Classes V to VIII on Oct 7. Meanwhile, the Goa Board has said that the Class IX exam will begin on Oct 7. Elective subjects are interdisciplinary approach, art education, and vocational and physical education. There are common papers set now for the core subjects, and for the elective subjects, the schools themselves assess students based on broad guidelines provided to them.
