Blessed by Goddess Kali, Indian armed forces displayed amazing valour in Op Sindoor: Rajnath
Lucknow: Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said the Indian armed forces have the special blessings of Goddess Kali and during Operation Sindoor , they displayed amazing bravery in destroying terrorist camps on Pakistani soil. Speaking at the inauguration of a newly-built Badi Kali temple in Lucknow's Chowk area, the Lucknow MP said that women soldiers and pilots participated in the Operation Sindoor in large numbers and defeated the enemy. The defence minister said the 26th anniversary of the Kargil War is being celebrated this year. "We should remember all the heroes, including Captain Manoj Pandey (of Lucknow), who made the supreme sacrifice for Mother India. The Indian Army regiment in which Captain Pandey served is called the Gurkha Rifles. The slogan of the regiment is Jai Mahakali, Ayo Gurkhali. Mahakali is the inspiration for bravery in this country," he added. Singh expressed deep reverence for the Badi Kali temple, believed to be over 2,000 years old and established by Adi Guru Shankaracharya. He emphasised that the temple is not just a place of worship but a cornerstone of Lucknow's cultural and spiritual identity—standing tall even before the city itself took shape. Reflecting on his personal connection, Singh said he felt blessed to serve as Lucknow's representative, attributing his journey in public life to the grace of Badi Kali Maa. He fondly remembered literary icon Amrit Lal Nagar, who dedicated his life to the service of the Goddess. Singh also announced plans for a new satsang hall and a yoga centre within the temple complex, ensuring it remains a vibrant hub for devotion and wellness. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Saturday that the Indian armed forces have the special blessings of Goddess Kali and during Operation Sindoor, they displayed amazing valour, courage and bravery in destroying terrorist camps on Pakistani soil. The senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader also said the spiritual and cultural symbols and centres of India were targeted during the British rule and thus, after independence, it was necessary to rebuild those. Speaking at the inauguration of a newly-built block of the Kaliji temple in Lucknow's Chowk area, Singh said, "The Indian armed forces have the special blessings of Goddess Kali and during Operation Sindoor, they displayed amazing valour, courage and bravery, and succeeded in destroying terrorist camps on Pakistani soil. Women soldiers and pilots participated in this operation in large numbers and defeated the enemy...." He said for centuries, India has been an example of economic prosperity and material development for the world. "We have set standards of progress and steps towards prosperity," he added. "India never allowed material progress to become a means of geographical expansion and exploitation. We created spiritual and human symbols for material progress as well. A posthumous recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military decoration, Captain Pandey, who showed exemplary courage during the Kargil War, studied in the Sainik School in Lucknow. Singh said during the colonial rule, the oppressors who tried to weaken India first targeted its spiritual and cultural symbols and centres, and after independence, it was necessary to rebuild those symbols. "Had we respected our cultural identity, the sense of unity and self-respect within the country would have been strengthened. But unfortunately, this did not happen. After independence, even the reconstruction of the Somnath temple was opposed. And this thinking dominated the country for decades. The result was that the country went into the pit of inferiority complex and forgot to be proud of its heritage," he said. The Lok Sabha MP from Lucknow said there should be collective efforts to make the Mahakali temple even more grand and divine. "I am ready and willing to help you in every possible way. If I say that this Shri Barhi Kali Ji temple located at Chowk is the centre of Lucknow's cultural and spiritual consciousness, it will not be an exaggeration. The temple was there even when Lucknow did not exist and today, when Lucknow is taking a new shape, it still exists as an inspiration for all of us," he said. The senior BJP leader said prominent Hindi writer Amritlal Nagar was engaged in the service of the goddess throughout his life and such is the glory of this temple that once he came here, he became a part of this place. "Kali Maa has also adopted me and I am working in public life with a vow to serve Lucknow throughout my life," Singh said.

Cops Say Influencer's Arrest Over Communal Post Lawful, BJP Slams Trinamool
Dimissing claims that an Instagram influencer, who uploaded a video with alleged communal comments in reference to Operation Sindoor was arrested unlawfully, the Kolkata Police has said several attempts were made to serve notice to her, but she deliberately stayed away. Influencer Sharmishta Panoli, who is studying law at an institute in Pune, uploaded the video recently and faced a backlash, after which she deleted it and issued an apology. A complaint had, however, already been filed against her in Kolkata by then. When attempts to serve notice failed, a court issued an arrest warrant against Ms Panoli and she was arrested from Gurugram - where she had gone with her family - by the Kolkata Police on Friday night. Her arrest was termed unlawful by some on social media and BJP leader and Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari slammed the Trinamool Congress for taking her into custody to "appease a certain votebank" while refusing to act against its own leaders. In a statement on Saturday, the Kolkata Police said some "social media narratives suggesting an unlawful arrest" of a law student are "incorrect and misleading". "All legal procedures were duly adhered to. All attempts were made to serve notice, but she was found absconding on every occasion. Consequently, a warrant of arrest was issued by the competent court, following which she was apprehended lawfully from Gurgaon. She was thereafter produced before the appropriate magistrate and granted transit remand as per due process of law," the statement said. "We urge all concerned to refrain from spreading unverified or speculative content and to rely on authentic sources for information," it added. Appeasement Politics Hitting out at the Mamata Banerjee-led government, Mr Adhikari said action is only taken against 'sanatanis'. "FIRs were filed against (Trinamool MP) Mahua Moitra after she made derogatory comments about Goddess Kali. Was any action taken? What did their MP Saayoni Ghosh post about Mahadev (Lord Shiva)? Was any action taken? There have been so many FIRs against Firhad Hakim, but there has been no action. The action is only taken against 'sanatanis'. Everyone here has a licence to abuse 'sanatanis'," the BJP leader said. "What they (Trinamool Congress) are doing is appeasement politics. A certain community is their votebank and they are doing this to appease them. Mahua Moitra used derogatory language against Goddess Kali in a talk show, 200 FIRs were registered. Was any action taken? No," he added.
