Scottie Scheffler's Memorial Message for His Wife, Meredith, Unveiled

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. On Sunday, Scottie Scheffler defended his title at The Memorial to join Tiger Woods as the only other player to do so at Muirfield Village. He defeated Ben Griffin by four shots to earn his 16th PGA Tour victory and second of the season. CBS Sports' Amanda Balionis asked him about the emotional win and getting to shake Jack Nicklaus' hand for a second straight year. However, her asking about his wife, Meredith, and her support and impact on his career got him emotional. "You're really trying to make me emotional," Scheffler told Balionis. Then, in a not-so-typical Scheffler moment, he got choked up as he expressed himself. "My wife is my biggest supporter," he said, fighting back tears. "She's my best friend know, this is our life here on the road. We have had some special memories at this tournament. I definitely couldn't do it without her." She explained how important she was to the Golden Bear's career and made the connection with what seems to be the next power couple, the Schefflers. When Scheffler wins, Meredith embraces him, and their love shines through the camera. Now they have their son Bennett, who continues to steal the spotlight from his dad. The three-time major champion rarely shows emotions, but Scheffler could not help himself when talking about his little family. The Schefflers continue to steal the hearts of golf fans, and this small quote shows how much it means to the No. 1 ranked golfer to have them there. These players depend on wins for a long career, but their support systems are equally important, and Scheffler seems to have a great one. Bryson DeChambeau's 7-Words for Scottie Scheffler at PGA Championship, Revealed

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Bryson DeChambeau once again proved to be a fierce competitor and was frustrated despite finishing second at the PGA Championship. But he also showed his sportsmanship by waiting nearly an hour to congratulate Scottie Scheffler on his victory. DeChambeau, who started the final round 40 minutes before Scheffler, stayed near the scorecard signing room to congratulate the champion with a brief but emotional phrase: "I'm proud of you, man. Good job," he said. Scottie and Bennett receive some congratulations and take a trip to sign the card. — Golf on CBS ⛳ (@GolfonCBS) May 18, 2025 A few minutes earlier, the reigning US Open champion held a press conference, in which he shared his feelings after his performance at the event: "I'm baffled right now," he said. "Just felt like things just didn't go my way this week. Drove it really well. I drove it as good as I can, as of right now, I gave myself a good chance. I just felt like a couple breaks went a different way." "Another top five," he added. "Always proud to top five in a major. I feel like I'm playing good when I'm doing that but I mean, it's disappointing not to get the job done because that's what I came here to do." DeChambeau carded a final round 70 to move up six spots on the leaderboard to tie for second. Although his performance on Sunday never came close to threatening first place, he still had a chance to finish solo second. He was 2-under for the round through the 17th hole, a score that would have allowed him to beat Harris English by one stroke. But he bogeyed the 18th, missing the green with his second shot and then missing a 17-foot putt for par that skimmed the edge of the cup. This is the second consecutive edition of the PGA Championship in which he has finished as runner-up, having finished just one stroke behind Xander Schauffele a year ago. It is also his sixth top-10 finish (including a victory) in the last 10 major championships in which he has played. Scottie Scheffler, meanwhile, started the final round with a three-stroke lead but had to hold on for the title. Jon Rahm made the main charge to challenge the World No. 1 for the title, but eventually couldn't keep up and slipped to T8. Rahm was 9 under for the tournament going into the 15th hole on Sunday, while Scheffler had the same score coming off the front nine. But while the Spaniard melted down playing the "Green Mile" (the last three holes of Quail Hollow) for 5-over, the American carded a 2-under on the back nine to finish in even par for the round and win the tournament by five strokes. Scottie Scheffler unleashed an emphatic hat spike to celebrate PGA Championship and fans loved it

What a difference a year can make for Scottie Scheffler. A year ago, the world's top-ranked golfer was arrested as he arrived for the PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville. The stunning incident ultimately led to dropped charges against Scheffler, but on the course, he'd settle for an eighth-place finish. This year, though, there was very little drama for Scheffler as he cruised to the PGA Championship win at Quail Hollow. It was his third major championship of his career and first since that arrest in Kentucky. With emotions running high off the win, Scheffler broke out the perfect celebration for the moment. How does a Gronk Spike for his hat sound? Scottie Scheffler is FIRED UP after winning the PGA Championship. — Golf on CBS ⛳ (@GolfonCBS) May 18, 2025 Yeah, that'll work. I think he's found himself a new signature celebration. Fans loved the celebration as well — keep the spikes coming! Hat spike: 10/10. Back in a major way! PGA Championship Final Round live updates: Scottie Scheffler, after nearly blowing lead, rallies for dominant win

It was just like he planned, right? Scottie Scheffler, after nearly blowing a five-shot lead at Quail Hollow Club on Sunday afternoon in North Carolina, still rallied to pick up a commanding win at the second major championship of the year. Scheffler got to 11-under for the week and ended up taking home a five-shot win over the field. That earned Scheffler his first ever PGA Championship win and the iconic Wanamaker Trophy. It marks his third career major championship win, and his first outside of Augusta National. Scheffler will also take home a $3.42 million check — which is part of a tournament record $19 million purse this week. Scheffler surged ahead to a three-shot lead with his 6-under 65 on Saturday, though he made three bogeys on his front nine and saw a five-shot lead disappear completely while Jon Rahm surged ahead of him. Rahm, however, lost all of the momentum he had built up. He started missing putts and ended up finishing 5-over in his final three holes to drop well back while Scheffler turned it on behind him. Scheffler made back-to-back birdies on Nos. 14 and 15 to reclaim his massive lead as if nothing had happened. From there, Scheffler simply cruised to the finish to grab his win. The win marked the 15th career PGA Tour victory for the top-ranked golfer in the world, and his second this month alone. Bryson DeChambeau, Harris English and Davis Riley finished in a tie for second at 6-under on the week. Taylor Pendrith, J.T. Poston and Jhonattan Vegas — who held the lead at the midway point — finished in a tie for fifth. J.T. Poston bogeyed up ahead, which pushed Scottie Scheffler's lead to SIX now with just two holes to go. Jon Rahm just made a double at the 18th, too. Scottie Scheffler Immediate 'F-Bomb' Reaction to Winning PGA Championship

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Fans are 2-for-2 in emotional wins at major championships this year. Scottie Scheffler finally showed he is human as he celebrated by slamming down his hat and letting out a massive F-bomb at Quail Hollow after winning the PGA Championship. It is rare for the World No. 1 golfer to show any emotion, but he clearly wanted this one badly. "F***K, Yeah! That's what I'm talking about," Scheffler yelled. It was perfectly executed, too. Scheffler shot an even par 71 on Sunday, but it was enough to win his third career major. He defeated the three tied in the runner-up position by five shots. It takes a lot to get that kind of emotion out of Scheffler, but he lets those feelings out when he wins a major. This celebration was probably the biggest one yet for him. He had a pretty epic one when he won his second Green Jacket, but to conquer Quail Hollow without your best golf is pretty spectacular. Is it safe to say that Scheffler is out of the brief "slump" he experienced earlier this season? In 10 starts this year, he has two wins, one runner-up finish, seven Top 10s, 10 Top 25s and has not missed a cut. Scheffler seems to be on the rise at the right time this season to do more things he has yet to accomplish on the PGA Tour. He has 15 wins and three majors now. Not to mention, Scheffler now has $81,924,784 in career earnings after he won $3,420,000 at the PGA Championship. What will the Dallas resident do next?
