‘Clair Obscur: Expedition 33' Patch Slams Maelle Build With 70% Nerf

Expedition 33 Sandfall Sometimes a build in a game is so broken that even a single player, PvE-only title is going to be forced to act. And now, a promised patch has gone live for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 that severely nerfs the game's best build, a Maelle one-shot that can instantly kill anything in the game, even its hardest boss. And it still may not be enough. In the patch notes, there are two separate nerfs to this build, centered around one sword and one skill that are key to its use: Medalum is the sword used in this build because it starts you in Virtuose stance, a 200% damage multiplier at baseline, and Stendhal is the one-shot skill you execute in conjunction with a zillion other buffs. Expedition 33 Sandfall The end result of this, at least in my own testing in a 1v1 versus Golgra is that this works out to a 70% nerf of the Maelle build's damage, the sword nerf combining with the Stendhal nerf. My results were: So that damage is 30% of what it was equating to a 70% nerf. But as I said, depending how this shakes out, it may not be enough. This is not my maxed build, as with other heroes and buffs I don't have fully active, I think my record is 67 million. The second phase of the hardest boss in the game has him with about 50-60 million health, so 30% of my 67 million would be 20 million, and with damage plummeting after the first hit, I'd have a relatively normal fight on my hands. But every other boss? I think nearly all of them would still fall to that 20 million. That said, this build has gone insane places with some variants. If you hit a 100 million that's 30 million in damage, so no one shot for that guy. But we have seen versions of this that reach 3-4 billion in damage with the right multipliers. I'm not sure if that's exactly a 30% nerf with those ultra-optimized builds, but to get that down to 50 million from 3 billion, you would need closer to an 85% nerf, not 70%. But I don't think the vast majority of players have what it takes to reach that high as you need an insane amount of buffs and Pictos to get there. This is warranted, even in a single player RPG. I can understand why Sandfall would not want players to somewhat easily skip the entire endgame with damage this high to be able to one-shot all enemies, even the final boss. And given how hard some of those bosses are, this is now going to be very hard if you can only partially chunk them, especially the final boss of the endgame. But a lot of other bosses and enemies? Yeah, you can still probably obliterate them, even with this nerf. Here's the build. Follow me on Twitter, YouTube, Bluesky and Instagram. Clair Obscur Expedition 33 Golgra boss guide

(Image via Sandfall Interactive) Clair Obscur Expedition 33 challenges the players with a few rivals, like Golgra , the Gestral Village's chief. To fight her is not a small feat, as she is a brutal duelist with massive health and some devastating attacks. The duel demands strategy, precision, and proper preparation to deal with her attacks. Here is how you can tackle her and claim the rewards. Understanding Golgra and the challenge Golgra is not an average boss but a warrior chief. She is a pure physical fighter who relies on the fast and high-damage combos instead of the elemental tricks. She has no resistances or weaknesses, meaning only raw damage output will be your key. As it is a solo duel, you cannot rely on your teammates; you can only rely on your build and reflexes. If you are not prepared, Golgra's raw physical attacks will obliterate you, making it a true test of late-game mastery. Golgra's attacks escalate when her health drops below 50%. It adds delays and some extra hits in her combos. One mistake means instant death. So, it is important for you to maintain aggression and memorize her patterns. Equip Painted Power Pictus (unlock it by defeating Paintress ) to break the 9,999 damage cap and then maximize your offense. Note: If you feel you are under-leveled, retreat and then grind. This is not a fight to rush things. Pre-fight preparations: Build, Gear, Luminas, and more Begin by acquiring Painted Power Pictus. Once it is unlocked, pair it with some damage-boosting Luminas like the Glass Cannon (high risks and rewards) for a better offense. You can even choose Empowering Parry for the counterplay, but only if you can do it well. A Cheater will further let you act twice in every turn, and therefore, it will be ideal for the buff before you attack. Next, give priority to the Luminas, which can synergize with the solo play. Augmented First Strike and First Strike will deliver the great opening damage. Roulette (50% chance for the double damage) further will add the risk and reward burst potential. Make sure to avoid the defensive passives, as they are useless against Golgra's one-hit kills. Additionally, your build must even maximize the DPS while dodging flawlessly. Pro tip: If you are confident with Dodging, Empowering Dodge will be the solid pick. The Last Stand and Solo Fighter Luminas also shine as you are fighting alone. How to counter Golgra attack patterns to defeat her? How to beat GOLGRA Boss (Build Guide) | Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 The move set of Golgra revolves around 3 lethal combos. Fast Combo stars as the 3-hit strike but gains the delayed 4th hit after her health drops down below 50%. Parry early and then adjust the timing post-buff. The Earth Shake pattern will force you to jump and fail. You will be stunned by the follow-up strike. Make sure to always counter immediately after you land. Long Combo is the third and the deadliest move of Golgra. It's a 6-hit sequence with the erratic delays. Memorize rhythm, or you will risk an instant death. Also, to tackle it, practice dodging sideways for the first 3 swings and then parry the final blows. The phase transitions demand adaptability. So, stay calm and punish the openings. What will be the best time to fight Golgra? Do not fight Golgra early on. With millions of HP, she is designed for the endgame builds. Make sure to return only after you have unlocked some top-tier gears and have leveling key stats. To provoke Golgra prematurely will waste your resources. Note: Dialogue of Monoco will trigger the fight instantly. So, save beforehand. If you postpone the duel, you will be able to farm some XPs and optimize Luminas. The rewards like Recoat , 2.25 million XP, and Grandiose Chroma Catalysts are totally worth the grind. Also, once you win, you will be granted a unique weapon that will be tailored to your character and will boost your future battles. Final tips for Duel with Golgra Make sure to master parrying. Golgra's combos are deadly. Go all in on the offense, as the defensive builds will not guarantee a win. Retry, if it's needed. The fight is tough, but the rewards are worth it. Remember, Golgra is the true test of your skills in Clair Obscur Expedition 33. So, prepare well and stay sharp. With it, you will be able to claim victory against the Gestral chief.
