A pleasant, seasonal close to the work week for Utah's weather

SALT LAKE CITY () — Happy Friday, Utah! A nice July day ahead for the Wasatch Front with seasonal temperatures in northern and central Utah, with high heat holding steady in southern Utah. You can expect highs in the low 90s along the Wasatch Front and into central Utah, while St. George stays above the average of 102 degrees and makes a run for 106 today. Bottom Line? Average temperatures with sunshine and dry skies for Friday; high heat holds in Southern Utah We will see fire conditions ease slightly with winds relaxing a bit, but dry conditions persist. Our latest drought monitor percentages indicate drought worsening in Utah, with all of the beehive state facing moderate drought, and more than half of Utah now in the severe drought category. Lack of precipitation will continue over the weekend and into next week. Above-average heat will once again build through the weekend and into early next week thanks to high pressure. At last check, there's potential to see triple digits return to the Wasatch Front, and they won't budge in southern Utah for the next seven days. With high heat ahead, you will want to stay on top of the forecast. We'll keep you updated in our 4Warn Weather forecast both on-air and online, we are Good4Utah! Hot conditions peak as monsoon moisture arrives in Utah for the middle of the week

SALT LAKE CITY () — Happy Tuesday, Utah! Our Tuesday afternoon will feature a mix of clouds and sunshine across the state. We may begin to tap into a bit of monsoonal moisture, leading to a chance for isolated storms to develop over the higher terrain, and possibly drift into the valley areas. A Red Flag Warning has been issued for parts of central and southern Utah Tuesday for the risk for dry lightning and possible fire ignitions due to the lightning. Tuesday high temperatures will be in the upper 90s to 100 for the Wasatch Front and near 106° for SW Utah. A Heat Advisory is in effect for eastern Box Elder county, the Wasatch Front, and Tooele Valley for this afternoon through Tuesday late evening. The combination of near triple digit heat Monday, and triple digit heat Tuesday will help to increase the heat risk danger for northern Utah Tuesday. Increasing moisture thanks to a monsoonal tap will help to aid in more clouds and moisture around the Beehive state for the middle of the work week. Look for chances for showers & storms on an isolated to scattered basis to increase. No washouts are in the forecast, but the chance for some pop-ups will become more widespread. Highs will cool due to the extra clouds and showers to the low to mid 90s along the Wasatch Front, and potentially below 100° for SW Utah. Later this week, just in time for the 4th of July, we will begin to dry things out and heat things up. Friday will feature mostly sunny to partly sunny skies, with a very slight chance for a pop-up across northern Utah. Southern Utah will be dry and hot. Highs across southern Utah will warm back to near 100°, while highs across northern Utah will warm into the low to mid 90s. It gets even hotter and drier for the weekend with sunny skies and hot temperatures. Highs will warm back to the upper 90s across the north, and 100°+ for SW Utah! Monsoonal moisture is on the move through Utah for the midweek

SALT LAKE CITY () – Happy Wednesday, Utah! We're into July, and after a hot start to the month with heat advisories, we will see highs drop about five degrees today. We will remain a few degrees above seasonal norms with temperatures along the Wasatch Front expected to hit the low to mid-90s, with Washington County closer to the St. George average of 100 degrees. You may also notice more cloud cover today as monsoon moisture continues to stream into the state with a southerly flow in place. Bottom Line? Increasing clouds and isolated thunderstorms today with an elevated flash flood threat. A monsoon set up is in place with a large area of high pressure near the Four Corners, and an area of low pressure to our west gradually moving inland. Our monsoon flow is grabbing some of this monsoon moisture to the south and ushering it into Utah meaning we have the chance of isolated thunderstorms today. As the low gets closer to Utah, we will see an uptick in storm potential especially Wednesday evening and into Thursday afternoon. Nocturnal storms are possible into Thursday morning and these storms will pack gusty winds, lightning and the chance of brief, heavy rain. With more moisture potential, the flash flood risk will increase today. Flash flooding is possible at all of our National Parks and surrounding recreation areas like Red Cliffs, Canyonlands, Grand Staircase and near Lake Powell. It's important to mention that you should never cross flood waters and seek higher ground if you are caught in the path of a flash flood. Slot canyons and normally dry washes in southern Utah are not safe. Looking ahead to your Independence Day, drier air will return with only a slight chance of a pop-up thunderstorm in Northern Utah. Daytime highs will be right around seasonal norms, so highs will be near 90 along the Wasatch Front and 100 in Washington County. High pressure will regain control with a chance of an uptick in winds, leading to potential fire danger. The holiday weekend looks sunny, hot and dry as of last check. Summer conditions can shift quickly, so stay weather aware this weekend. We'll keep you updated in our 4Warn Weather forecast both on-air and online, we are Good4Utah! Triple digits return for Southern Utah, above average temps up north

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4) – Happy Friday, Utah! Our Friday afternoon will feature mostly sunny skies. High temperatures will climb into the triple digits again for southern Utah to wrap up the week into the upcoming weekend. High temperatures will return to the mid to upper 90s for the Wasatch Front. The heat dome will expand even more late this weekend into early next week, leading to temps once again approaching 110 across SW Utah and temperatures climbing into the triple-digits for the northern half of the state. Rain chances will remain slim-to-none as the ridge of high pressure expands across the Lower 48, meaning lots of sunshine and elevated fire concerns continuing through the weekend. A monsoon pattern may try to set up by mid to late next week, which could introduce some storm chances as we close in on the 4th of July. Critical fire weather conditions for southern Utah today as hot and windy weather continues

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4) – Happy Monday, Utah! After high heat over the weekend, our weather pattern begins to shift Monday as a weak tough in the Pacific Northwest moves inland. That change will flatten the ridge that's been keeping things toasty, especially in northern Utah. As a result, northern areas can expect a slight cooldown compared to Sunday, while southern Utah holds steady with hot, dry conditions. With the trough approaching and winds picking up, we'll see gustier conditions Monday afternoon and evening—most notably across southern and eastern Utah. That will stir up fire weather concerns, especially with how dry the air remains. Red Flag Warnings are in effect from noon to midnight today for the southern half of the state due to the increase in winds. This means that existing fires will spread rapidly in addition to any new fires that start. Wind gusts up to 35 mph are expected with sustained winds of 10-25 mph. Late Monday night, a weak front will move through the state. It looks to be mostly dry since moisture is very limited. Still, a couple of isolated sprinkles can't be ruled out for northern Utah, but most of us will stay dry. By Tuesday morning, that front will have swept through most of Utah and will help drop temperatures 5-10 degrees from Monday, with the most noticeable change across northern Utah. Winds will shift more northwesterly behind the front, and while they'll still be breezy, they won't be as gusty as Monday. Midweek, high pressure over the Southwest will start sliding westward, keeping things dry but allowing for a gradual warm-up Wednesday. Winds will stay relatively light, and the pattern will start to resemble what we saw earlier in the week. Thursday brings another round of very hot, very dry weather. Southwest winds will increase ahead of another trough diving into the Pacific Northwest. Relative humidity will drop into the single digits and teens, and temperatures could flirt with record highs—especially in the valleys. Salt Lake City could hit 102°, which would break the record for that day. Heading into Friday and Saturday, the next system moves closer. Winds are expected to ramp up again, and a weak cold front could start pushing into northern Utah by Saturday. That front may bring some relief from the heat up north, but to the south, gusty winds and bone-dry air will keep fire weather concerns front and center. Stay tuned.
