Amal Clooney Wore a Stunning Strapless Summer Dress For Dinner Date With George Clooney
On Friday, Amal and George Clooney enjoyed dinner with close friend Bono of U2 at Polo Bar in Manhattan. Amal wore a stunning strapless summer dress in white by Stella McCartney, which was wrapped in mesh fabric printed with a graphic cherry design. She accessorized with a black clutch, dangling gold earrings, and metallic heels with pointed toes. The human rights lawyer was wearing a natural makeup palette with a hint of a smokey eye. Holding her hand, George wore a navy suit over a black polo and a matching baseball cap, plus a pair of shiny black dress shoes. The couple has been friends with Bono and his wife, Alison Hewson, for many years, though the rock star appeared to be solo at dinner. Amal and George were recently separated as they traveled around the world. Amal attended the Cannes Film Festival for a screening of Bono's documentary, Stories of Surrender. There, she wore an off-the-shoulder black gown with a short train. It was an archival Christian Dior gown from John Galliano's time at the fashion house. On May 29, they were reunited at an event celebrating his hit Broadway play Good Night, and Good Luck. They were also photographed posing backstage with Nancy Pelosi, Tanya Taylor, Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, and Huma Abedin. In 2022, after being named Women of the Year by Time magazine, Amal talked about her marriage and being mom to her twins, Ella and Alexander. 'Marriage has been wonderful,' she shared. 'I have in my husband a partner who is incredibly inspirational and supportive, and we have a home filled with love and laughter.' Of parenthood, she said, 'It is a joy beyond anything I could ever have imagined. I feel so lucky to have found a great love in my life, and to be a mother—this is how I get my balance.'

Megyn Kelly slams Beyoncé for including footage of her in 'Cowboy Carter' tour visuals: 'She could play the victim'
Megyn Kelly is having a meltdown over her unexpected inclusion in Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter Tour. The political commentator responded to the Grammy-winning artist splicing footage of one of her on-air interviews into the visuals for the musician's ongoing tour, which blurred Kelly's face and also featured the brief inclusion of other media clips containing commentary about her foray into the country genre. Though Kelly's face is not explicitly recognizable, the former Fox News host slammed the inclusion on Thursday's episode of her eponymous SiriusXM show. "It recently came to my attention that Beyoncé', who's on some world tour right now reinventing herself as a country star, is running videotape during the show of yours truly," Kelly began. The clip in question, Kelly clarified, hailed from her conversation with Sky News Australia last year, in which she mocked the country album and the way it had been marketed as if Beyoncé were "Jesus incarnated" and "here to rescue country music." "She is considered untouchable," Kelly continued. "You're not allowed to rip on her, by the way. You're not allowed to rip on Michelle Obama, either, but we do. Too bad. The more untouchable you tell me somebody is, the more likely I am to want to hit them.' She lamented that the music superstar "had to scour the internet to find anybody who offered any criticism of this move [into country] whatsoever," adding, "Here is another one of the most privileged, beloved women in the world, and richest based on her own fortune ... but still has to look for the one sliver where she could play the victim and be aggrieved because big bad Megyn Kelly said something completely milquetoast about her entry into country music.' Kelly then compared the inclusion to her previous spat with George Clooney, who caused great offense when he questioned her career as a journalist last month. Speaking with fellow Broadway star Patti LuPone, Clooney — currently portraying broadcast journalist Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, and Good Luck — said at the time, "I'm not quite sure what she has done to be a journalist.' "He's George f---ing Clooney. She's Beyoncé, but they can't take the mildest criticism," Kelly griped. Entertainment Weekly has reached out to Beyoncé's rep for comment. The Cowboy Carter tour kicked off in Los Angeles on April 28 and is set to conclude in Las Vegas on July 26. The music icon recently won the 2025 Grammy for Best Country Album, becoming the first Black woman to do so. Broadway Box Office Has Finally Recovered, Overtaking Pre-Pandemic Returns for First Time
Last week, Broadway grosses for the season-to-date surpassed 2018-2019's record season-to-date box office for the first time. Total industry box office hit $1.8 billion for the season, propelled by hits such as Good Night, and Good Luck, starring George Clooney, which was last week's highest earner, with $3.8 million, followed by Othello, starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal, with $3.2 million and Glengarry Glen Ross, starring Kieran Culkin, Bob Odenkirk and Bill Burr, with $2.4 million. Some shows also appeared to get a boost from the Tony nominations, including Death Becomes Her, which saw its grosses shoot up close to $270,000 from the prior week to $1.3 million, Buena Vista Social Club, which saw a close to $90,000 gain to $1.2 million, Maybe Happy Ending, which shot up close to $100,000 to $1 million. All three tied for having the most Tony nominations. Among the plays, Purpose, which is Tony nominated and was also awarded the Pulitzer Prize in Drama, saw its grosses increase by about $100,000 to $522,691 last week, and the Tony-nominated play John Proctor is The Villain, starring Sadie Sink, also increased close to $100,000 to $596,511. The milestone of surpassing the 2018-2019 season is significant as that season is the highest on record for Broadway grosses and attendance and has been viewed as a benchmark to measure post-pandemic recovery. At this point in the 2018-2019 season, Broadway had brought in $1.79 million. However, Jason Laks, president of the Broadway League noted that the numbers are driven by a few productions – namely the recent celebrity-driven titles, with high ticket prices – and that otherwise the economics of Broadway are making it harder for productions to survive. Othello commanded the highest average ticket price on Broadway last week at $387. 'Broadway audiences are responding to the remarkable and diverse slate of productions this season. These grosses and attendance numbers are a testament to, and a reflection of, the efforts of every person working both on stage and off to turn the dream of each show into a reality,' Laks said in a statement. 'While we celebrate this milestone, we also need to be clear-eyed about where this industry stands today. Among other factors, these record grosses have been buoyed by the tremendous success of a few specific productions this season, without which we would still trail our pre-pandemic numbers. While we are, of course, thrilled by their successes, we also have to look at our industry as a whole,' the statement reads. 'Every show, no matter how acclaimed, is grappling with rising costs across every facet of production. Shows have an ever-shorter window to get on their feet, find an audience, and determine their future. This is a major challenge shows face as they seek out investors, without which a production will never make it to the stage,' Laks said. Broadway Sees Highest Grossing Season on Record
Broadway's 2024-2025 season grossed $1.89 billion across all productions, marking the highest season on record and a recovery from the pandemic. The gross totals are up 23 percent from last season, and, significantly, the numbers also come in above Broadway's 2018-2019 season, which had held the record for $1.83 billion in gross revenue and had been the benchmark against which Broadway was measuring its post-pandemic recovery. The 2019-2020 and 2021-2022 seasons were both shortened due to the pandemic. The 2024-2025 season began May 20, 2024 and ended May 25, 2025. Attendance for the 2024-2025 season came in at 14.66 million, below the 14.77 million from the 2018-2019 season, suggesting that increased ticket prices played a part in the higher grosses this past season. Average ticket prices were up 3 percent from last season and up 4 percent from the 2018-2019 season. While Broadway League president Jason Laks celebrated the grosses achievement, he also underlined the trend. 'As we look to next season, we have to be sober about the challenges Broadway faces. We can't be satisfied with 2019's definition of success anymore. With rising costs hitting every facet of production, it is becoming harder and harder to bring live theatre to the stage. Shows today have an ever-shorter window to get on their feet. The investment that fuels Broadway is something we can't ever take for granted,' Laks said in a statement. Among the high earners this season, Good Night, and Good Luck yet again broke its own record for highest weekly gross for a play on Broadway, bringing in $4.2 million last week and playing to more than 100 percent capacity at the Winter Garden Theater. The average ticket price for the play was $337.59. The play is currently scheduled to end its run June 8. The next highest earners last week were Othello, starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal, with $3.3 million and the highest average ticket price of $398, and Glengarry Glen Ross, starring Kieran Culkin, Bob Odenkirk and Bill Burr, which earned $2.7 million across a nine-performance week. Wicked and The Lion King rounded out the top five, with $2.3 million and $2 million respectively. Overall, Broadway grosses were up 7 percent over the prior week, as the industry races toward the June 9 Tony Awards ceremony and as many shows, including several best musical nominees Death Becomes Her (up $229,324) Maybe Happy Ending (up $87,044), Dead Outlaw (up $62,530) and more saw boosts in their grosses over the prior week. Call Me Izzy, a one-woman show starring Jean Smart, also joined the boards last week, playing two previews at Studio 54 and playing to 94 percent capacity. The 78th annual Tony Award nominations were announced May 1 by Sarah Paulson and Wendell Pierce. Special Tonys are also going to be awarded to the musicians who make up the band in Buena Vista Social Club and to the illusions and technical effects team at Stranger Things: The First Shadow. The Tony Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place June 8 at Radio City Music Hall, hosted by Cynthia Erivo.
