US court finds enough evidence to proceed with Grifols lawsuit against Gotham City
MADRID (Reuters) -A New York court found enough evidence to continue with the defamation lawsuit filed by Spanish pharmaceutical company Grifols against short seller Gotham City Research, Grifols said in a statement on Friday. Based on its findings, the Federal District Court for the Southern District of New York rejected a request filed by Gotham City to dismiss the lawsuit, Grifols said. In January 2024, Gotham, which had previously shorted Grifols shares, released a report accusing the company of overstating earnings and understating debt. Grifols denied the allegations but lost around a third of its market value following the report. Shorting involves borrowing shares in order to sell them, with the hope of buying them back more cheaply to make a profit. According to Grifols, the court also found that Grifols adequately argued that Gotham City's report contained false statements, such as that the company had failed to disclose a $95 million loan to Scranton Enterprises. Gotham City did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Will Matt Reeves' THE BATMAN: PART II Have a Co-Director? — GeekTyrant
Matt Reeves' The Batman was a bold, brooding noir that reimagined Gotham as a dark and gritty detetective-driven crime thriller. The director did such a great job with the film, and fans have been patiently waiting for the sequel. Reeves has been developing The Batman: Part II for years, and he's also been going through some personal matters, which has slowed the process. While Gunn has confirmed that Reeves is still attached to direct, a new rumor suggests he might not go it alone for the sequel. On The Hot Mic podcast, entertainment scooper Jeff Sneider said: 'I mean, I'd be surprised if he directed the movie alone. If he remains on board as director, why isn't it conceivable that he could have a co-director? Particularly James Gunn. 'I don't know, it could be anybody. I'll tell you who's just hanging out there in the wind: Mr. Sam Raimi.' I love that he just dropped Raimi's name. The man behind Evil Dead and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man trilogy just 'hanging out in the wind'? That's one way to stir the Bat-pot! I'd personally love to see Raimi direct a Batman movie! But, his style is so different from Reeves' I'm not sure it would the right team up. Let's be clear here, though, there's no confirmation here, but the idea of Reeves potentially bringing on a co-director feels… out of place. His take on the Caped Crusader is focused and particular. Mixing another voice with a different style into the mix, especially one as distinct as Raimi's, could throw off-the balance. The sequel's been in development since it was first announced at CinemaCon back in April 2022. It was once aiming for a 2026 release but is now officially slated for October 1, 2027. According to earlier reports, Reeves 'has been sending pages for more than half a year' and a 'first full draft of the script is expected to be delivered by Memorial Day.' At this point, Warner Bros. hasn't dropped any plot details, but Robert Pattinson will return to take on the role of Bruce Wayne aka Batman. I also imagine we'll see Zoe Kravits back as Catwoman and Colin Farrell as The Penguin. So… could Reeves bring in another filmmaker to help carry the weight? Maybe. Would that compromise the artistic clarity fans loved about the first film? Also maybe. Until we hear something official, though, it's all speculation.

DC and Marvel Are Smashing Together Batman and Deadpool
It will probably never happen on the big screen but in the comic book shops, Marvel and DC are ready to team up once again. The two biggest comic book companies just announced that two of their most popular characters, Batman and Deadpool, are going to show down across splash pages later this year. Entertainment Weekly broke the news of the crossover, which will mainly consist of two separate one-shot comics. On the Marvel side, Zeb Wells (Deadpool and Wolverine) is writing Deadpool/Batman with art and cover by Greg Capullo (Wolverine: Revenge) which will be out September 17. Over at DC, Grant Morrison (All Star Superman) is writing Batman/Deadpool with art by Dan Mora (Batman/Superman), which will be out in November. The Marvel comic will tell a story about Wade Wilson being hired to do a job in Gotham City, which doesn't sit well with Batman. DC wouldn't say what its story would be about, but both revealed in addition to these one shots, there will be some 'backup adventures' with other 'exciting Marvel and DC character match-ups.' All of that, however, is being kept under wraps, as is another set of crossovers coming in 2026. 'I don't do many comics these days but there was no way I could turn down the chance to work with Dan Mora again, one of my all-time favorite artistic collaborators—and definitely no way I could turn down Batman and Deadpool!' Grant Morrison said in a statement to EW. 'Expect 4th wall-busting mayhem, owls, blood, blades, and at least one giant typewriter!' 'After writing Amazing Spider-Man for 60 issues, I told Marvel I needed a break,' Wells said. 'Marvel told me I could do that or I could write a comic starring Deadpool and Batman with the best Batman artist of our generation. I no longer needed a break. In Batman we've found someone who has even less time for Deadpool's antics than Wolverine, but a city-wide threat from the Joker makes strange bedfellows (literally, if Deadpool had his way). It's been a blast letting Deadpool loose in Gotham City and watching what happens.' For those wondering, this is not the first time Marvel and DC have teamed up for something like this, it's just been over 20 years Previous crossovers and seen Spider-Man and Superman together, as well as the Justice League and Avengers. Jim Lee, the iconic artist turned CCO and Publisher at DC, explained why it's taken so long to do it again. 'It happens kind of once every generation of readers,' Lee said. I'll leave you to draw your own conclusions as to why. The timing has to be right in that you don't want to do these too often. You want them to feel special. It is sort of finding that right moment for both companies to come together because it is complex. There's a lot more coordination, collaboration, approvals that have to be done. And, obviously, from the business side, you're sharing revenue, but it's going to be a big deal. So you want the story, creatively, to warrant the hype of it all.' Here are the two covers of the comics and you can read more over at EW. Are you excited to check these out? Do you think this could ever happen on the big screen?

Edmonton rapper Headline addresses MMA fighter's death on new album
Article content Album single No Diddy (Gotham City) is a braggadocious hype song built over a mosaic of triumphant horns and cinematic strings. Rick Ross also shows up to rap about wearing thousand-dollar jeans and a watch worth a hundred stacks. Dig the way the horns switch up under the Teflon Don's verses, giving it an air of mafioso menace. Closing off The Second Coming is Teezus, perhaps the most personal song Headline has released. On it, he addresses the death of his friend Trokon Dousuah, who died after injuries sustained in a charity mixed martial arts fight in November 2024. 'I knew I had to honour Teezy in a way the both of us knew I could,' says Elechko. 'I put every ounce of thought and heart into creating a song that would be the legacy of his final moments immortalized in song, like the true champions of old.'
