Dannii Minogue recalls moment Sharon Osbourne and Graham Norton 'piled on' and 'tore her to pieces' with cruel jokes about her looks and talent in organised 'set up' on TV
has recalled the moment she watched Sharon Osbourne and Graham Norton 'tear her to pieces' with cruel jokes about her looks and talent during a 2007 appearance on the Irish comedian's BBC chat show. The singer, 53, who was a judge on the X Factor with Sharon at the time, described it as a 'pile on' and blamed Graham and the show's production crew for 'setting it up'. Speaking on How to Fail with Elizabeth Day Danni said: 'I think the difference was it wasn't being rude. There had to be production meetings to set up the things that they were doing on set in this show and these huge personalities that I looked up to and just loved what they had done'. 'I'd loved Sharon Osbourne on X Factor. I'd love her on the Osborne's. I loved what Graham Norton was doing, and here were these people just tearing me to pieces. That show would never be made today'. During the show the host brought up Dannii and mocked her appearance saying she 'looked bizarre' before he and his guest viciously poked fun at her Australian accent and apparent lack of musical talent at length. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. The singer, who was a judge on the X Factor with Sharon at the time, described it as a 'pile on' and blamed Graham and the show's production crew for 'setting it up' Sharon said: 'She knows she's there for her looks, not her contributions to the music industry' before going on to claim that Dannii was only on the show because boss Simon Cowell 'wanted her'. When fellow guest and Buffy star David Boreanaz asked if he could see a photo of Dannii, the former Osbourne's star said 'look at this' and showed him her bottom. Danni said that she 'couldn't believe her eyes' when she watched the show in order to understand what all the fuss was about. MailOnline have contacted BBC, Sharon Osbourne and Graham Norton's reps for comment. Last year during her appearance on Celebrity Big Brother Sharon discussed her history with Dannii. The pair were judges on The X Factor together for only one season, but allegedly clashed over Dannii's relationship with Simon. Sharon quit the show the following year. David Potts asked Sharon whether it was 'awkward' working with Dannii on the show, and Louis Walsh added: 'Wouldn't we be standing there, Sharon, and nobody talking?'. Laughing, Sharon said: 'That was so f*****g tough,' and Louis admitted that there was a similarly bad atmosphere 'every season.' Sharon explained that during the live shows, as soon as the cameras started rolling, she would grab Dannii's hand and hold it in the air. 'I grabbed her hand and went like this, when the doors opened, and she's like trying to (let go) but I'd push her up,' she said. But Sharon appeared to have moved on from her feud with Dannii, saying: 'Yeah she's alright, she's alright.' Sharon and Dannii Minogue made no secret of their dislike for each other during their time together on X Factor as they embroiled in a public spat. Dannii revealed at the time that Sharon screamed abuse at her in her dressing room and reduced her to tears just minutes before she was due on stage. After Dannii joined the show, stories circulated in the press about how Sharon was utterly distraught that Dannii had been made a judge and feared it meant she herself was on the way out. Storming into Dannii's dressing room, she accused the Australian singer of speaking negatively about her to the press as she screamed: 'I don't need this! 'I'm a mother, for f***'s sake, do you think I need all this s*** in my life?'. Dannii revealed at the time that Sharon screamed abuse at her in her dressing room and reduced her to tears just minutes before she was due on stage In 2013, Sharon spoke out about the feud as she branded the time she spent with Dannii on the ITV1 talent show as 'unbearable', 'intolerable' and 'an odious chore'. In an extract of her new book Unbreakable, serialised in The Sun, she said: 'Outwardly, Dannii seemed all, "Ooh, I love kids and puppies". But in my opinion she was dark, very dark. What you saw was definitely not what you got.' After quitting The X Factor, Sharon told Piers Morgan on his Life Stories that she couldn't work with Dannii. She said: 'I didn't hate her because hatred is very close to love and takes a lot of emotion and I don't have that time for her. 'She was like an insect, a mosquito that wouldn't go away.'

Graham Norton reveals the 'one particular thing' he will keep when leaving BBC
Graham Norton has revealed one precious piece of archive he will be looking to hold close when he finally leaves behind his BBC talk show. The Graham Norton Show has aired on BBC One since 2009, having initially featured on BBC Two from its beginnings in 2007. The Irish comedy legend has interviewed a who's-who of celebrity royalty in the eighteen-year interim, with many memorable moments on the famed red couch along the way. Graham Norton. Pic: Stuart C. Wilson/Getty Images The show format of gathering together all guests for a communal chat has often provided impromptu moments of amusement – and bemusement for some guests too. One such cringeworthy instance was in 2015, when actor Tom Hiddleston took into a Robert De Niro impersonation with the Taxi Driver star sat just feet away at the other end of the couch. De Niro had a decidedly stiff reaction to the attempt and Norton revealed there had been plenty more silly moments which hadn't even aired – one of which he wants to keep a clipping of post-retirement. The Graham Norton Show has been running since 2007. Pic: BBC/So Television/PA Media/Isabel Infantes 'There are worse things than that [Hiddleston impersonation] on the cutting room floor,' Graham told The Adam Buxton Podcast. 'I can't name any names, but when I finally retire, I will have to go into the big bin of edits. 'There's one particular thing I want to keep with me forever, it's so bad, it's amazing.' With the show recorded in front of a live studio audience, it means the moment in question would have been witnessed by a select few – but Norton reasoned that a retelling could never live up to the original moment itself. He said: 'Describing it to someone would never be what it was, and for how long it went on for.' Norton recently took a break from his chat show to embark on a comedy tour of Australia, entitled 'An Evening With Graham Norton'. While retirement plans may figure in the distance, he is also soon set to host new reality series The Neighbourhood on ITV.

Eurovision Song Contest fans all have same complaint about final
The 2025 Eurovision Song Contest grand final was criticised for its premature voting system this weekend. Unfolding in the Swiss city of Basel - thanks to last year's native champion Nemo who won the 68th contest with their song 'The Code' - BBC One aired its four-hour coverage on Saturday, May 17 with Graham Norton in the commentator's chair as usual. Before any of the 26 finalists had a chance to sing their nation's competing tune though, presenters Hazel Brugger, Sandra Studer, and Michelle Hunziker opened the public vote, which in the mind of many viewers represented a diminished fairness. Surely the latter performers had a disadvantage? Eurovision 2025's pre-performance voting was torn apart by fans on social media site X, with one user pointing out: "Voting is open! We haven't heard the songs, though?" "Why launch the voting before we've heard the songs?" asked another. Read more: When is Eurovision 2025 and who is singing for the UK? "Voting being open throughout the show is nothing short of pathetic. #Eurovision Worried about how this will affect Albania too," read a fourth complaint. Eurovision Song Contest's UK band splits fans with final performance
UK pop group Remember Monday divided the opinion of Eurovision Song Contest fans with their song 'What the Hell Just Happened?' during Saturday, May 17's grand final. Broadcast live on BBC One with Graham Norton on hand to commentate, this year's Switzerland-based spectacle had the three girls (Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele) on stage straight after Ukrainian representative Ziferblat. Inevitably, the temperature on social media was both hot and cold, with a range of responses coming from those who tuned in for Remember Monday's big moment. Starting with the nicer messages, one X user argued: "Aw, remember Monday absolutely smashed it for UK tonight, the best since Sam Ryder. I hope we get at least some points, but either way, the girls should be proud of themselves for that. Incredible harmonisation." "I don't know if the song is maybe a little too marmite for the public, but Remember Monday nailed every note, well done ladies!" read a second congratulation. To be fair, Remember Monday put on one hell of a show for the UK. 👏 #Eurovision — Peter Gillibrand (@GillibrandPeter) May 17, 2025 A really good performance at #Eurovision from Remember Monday for the UK. Gave it their all and you can't ask for much more. Well done girls 🙌🏻🇬🇧 #EurovisionSongContest @remembermonday_ — Daniel(SDMN) (@TheYOLOArtist) May 17, 2025 I have to say…. Remember Monday just smashed that! Had no idea what to expect 😆 but vocally great and full of personality! 👏🏼 #Eurovision — SCOTT (@ScottOfficialUK) May 17, 2025 Read more: Eurovision Song Contest fans all have same complaint about final Eurovision's Finnish performance draws naked Bart Simpson comparisons Eurovision 2025's biggest controversies, from Israel boycotts to lyric rows In this digital age we live in there's also plenty of negativity doing the rounds out there, as some corners of the Eurovision fandom weren't so impressed. One critic commented: "Remember Monday, future Pointless answer. I don't care how much Graham Norton, Rylan etc try and big them up, it is a poor song with bland staging." "Sorry Remember Monday but that was one screechy row," read another message. "Remember Monday are like Little Mix from Poundland," reckoned somebody else after their appearance. Speaking to BBC Radio 2's Scott Mills ahead of potential Eurovision glory, band member Hull weighed in on the story behind their track. "Oh there are many nights out that we can't share, where we did wake up thinking 'what the hell just happened?'" she told him. "We've got lots of matching tattoos and there was a night out where Charlotte actually did lose a shoe... if anyone finds a boot in Reading town centre then you know where to bring it! The lyrics of the song really are inspired by our own friendship." The 2025 Eurovision Song Contest aired on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
