Inside Prince Harry and Kate Middleton's Past Friendship, According to Royal Butler
Inside Prince Harry and Kate Middleton's Past Friendship, According to Royal Butler originally appeared on Parade. Before their public falling out, Prince Harry and Princess Kate Middleton were believed to have had a sweet friendship. Now former royal butler Grant Harrold is offering new insight into their past relationship. 'They involved him,' Harrold, 47, wrote about Harry, 40, in his upcoming book The Royal Butler: My Remarkable Life of Royal Service, according to an excerpt published by The Telegraph on Monday, August 18. 'He used to go out with Kate. William would be away, and Kate and Harry would be off doing stuff together.' Harry would often 'go shopping' and 'go to pubs' with Kate, 43. 'I think when people say, 'Oh he was left out,' he really wasn't,' Harrold wrote. 'But also, he was with Chelsy [Davy, the Prince's former girlfriend]. Chelsy was always around. And Chelsy and Kate got on really well.' Harrold, who worked for King Charles III for seven years, added that Harry and Prince William were 'so close." Their relationship is now drastically different after Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped down from their royal duties in 2020. 'The banter was great,' Harrold wrote of the brothers. 'They used to go around being silly with each other and winding each other up, jumping out at their dad from corners and making him laugh. It was just like a family.' He claimed in the book that he and William had a physical altercation in 2019, which led to issues they have never been able to work through. Despite their conflicts, an insider exclusively told Parade that the brothers might be able to mend their relationship amid Charles' cancer battle. 'King Charles really isn't doing well,' the source said in an August 14 interview, adding that Charles, 76, is 'deteriorating more.' 'It wouldn't be surprising if William and Harry reconnected a bit more over this. This could be the thing that pushes it to happen," the insider shared. Former Royal Butler Explains Why Prince William Is Unlikely to Promote Princess Beatrice to a "Working Royal" When He Becomes King
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Princess Beatrice is celebrating her 37th birthday on Friday, August 8. As a prominent member of the Royal Family, many royal fans will be wondering whether Beatrice will ever be promoted to a senior position. However, one former royal employee has suggested that when Prince William becomes king, he's unlikely to offer his cousin a significant role as a working royal. Former royal butler Grant Harrold—speaking to the Express on behalf of Fruity King—discussed the possibility of Princess Beatrice becoming a senior member of the Royal Family in the future. "Beatrice has her own career, so I don't see William making her a senior member of the working royals," Harrold told the outlet. While Princess Beatrice has been known to represent the Royal Family at official engagements, she has other considerations, too. "They pull ranks when they need the support, and she's been known to step up," Harrold explained. "But she has a job and does her own thing. She's still a valued member of the family." The former royal butler also reflected on how the Royal Family would be celebrating Beatrice on her 37th birthday. "The King will be eager to celebrate Princess Beatrice," Harrold told the outlet. "King Charles and Queen Camilla remain close to both Beatrice and Eugenie." Harrold further explained, "Beatrice is well-liked across the Royal Family and often steps in to support. While the celebrations may be a private affair, a celebration is expected, reflecting her quiet but valued presence within The Firm." The former royal employee was also quick to note that Princess Beatrice is extremely good at diplomacy. "She gets on with William, as well as Harry," he noted. "I think she's been very diplomatic with the brothers and their feud. She'll have been careful to maintain a relationship with both." Solve the daily Crossword
