Dachshund Won't Eat Dinner, Great Dane Brother Knows What He Needs To Do
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. In a viral TikTok video, a small dachshund pup refuses to eat his dinner unless his bigger brother tastes it first, and internet users can't cope with the hilarious footage. The clip, shared on Monday under the username @dinoandluka, shows the poster trying to feed the small pup kibble from a metal bowl, but he won't have any of it. Only after his owner grabs a bunch of kibble for the Great Dane to taste does the dachshund decide that it is indeed safe to eat it. "Imagine having to explain this to a pet sitter …" reads layover text in the clip. A caption says: "Typical [siblings] things." It is not uncommon for younger dogs to imitate their older canine siblings; in fact, older dogs can often help owners with training puppies. VetHelpDirect says that older canines can help with basic house training, which young dogs often learn by observing the more-senior ones. They can also help with obedience training. You can try this by regularly asking your older dog to perform commands when the younger one is present, and rewarding him for doing them. Then ask your younger canine to do the same, and rewarding the pup if it can manage to mimic the behavior. Older dogs can also teach puppies some fundamental social skills they need to interact with other canines. The seniors are able to set good boundaries with puppies and can also teach them things such as when to leave another dog alone, or when play becomes too much and is no longer enjoyable. One user, Kelly Ann, commented: "My dachshund didn't want her low fat food after being diagnosed with pancreatitis. I had to pretend I was eating it out of a fancy bowl for her to accept it." DebArora posted: "My female Malamute hates bananas, but if you offer a banana to her brother or to our little Schipperke, she is RIGHT THERE. She doesn't want bananas, but she doesn't want them to have them." Frenchfrybby added: "Mine will only eat if I take the bowl away 3 times and then pretend to eat it before he even considers eating." Newsweek reached out to @dinoandluka for comment via email. We could not verify the details of the case. Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share? Great Dane Realizes Owner's Ex Isn't Coming Home—His Reaction Breaks Hearts
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A woman out walking the streets of Vancouver randomly bumped into her ex's dog, a pleasant surprise, until she began walking away. Evelyn Martin, who posts on TikTok as @evelynmmartin, used to date someone who owned a Great Dane named Roman. However, when the relationship ended, so did her bonding time with Roman, whom she told Newsweek was always the best dog. And the feeling was mutual, as her July 7 video showed. Roman immediately lit up when he saw her on the same block while being walked by the dog walker. Martin went over to say hello and give him some long-overdue pets. The quick exchange wasn't enough for Roman, though. Martin began walking away, but she hesitated after seeing how distraught Roman became at the thought of her not coming home with him. His wagging tail slowed down, sinking with sadness. He wouldn't budge as the dog walker tried to move him along. Screenshots from a July 7 TikTok video of a Great Dane showing "big emotions" as his owner's ex pets him and leaves. As she approached him, Roman began jumping up and down, still holding onto hope she'd return home with him. Funny enough, Martin knew this was how Roman would react. He's always been one with "big feelings," she said. He would give the same worried look to Martin when she would leave the house while dating his owner. Previous videos from her Instagram account, @evelyn_martin, show how strong the relationship between Martin and Roman had been. He would follow her home on walks, making sure she arrived safely. He never turned down cuddles. And while he received attention from strangers, he only ever perked up when Martin arrived. Viewer Reactions The TikTok clip had reached over 1.1 million views and 232,700 likes as of Tuesday, with people demanding that she prioritize the dog's needs, stop breaking his heart, and get back together with her ex. "If a dog tells you you're coming over, you're coming over," commented one viewer. "Sounds like a co-parenting situation is needed," another person said. But, because not all relationships are meant to last forever, a commenter pointed out: "At least there's one thing y'all can agree on: he seems like a really good boy." Doggy Day-Care Worker Soon Learns Great Dane 'Doesn't Realize' How Big He Is
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A giant canine, unaware of his size, hilariously took the doggy day-care worker by surprise when he didn't shy away from getting close. Despite Great Dane dogs usually standing anywhere between 28 and 36 inches, they often think of themselves as lapdogs. This affectionate breed of canine always wants to be by their owner's side. Or, as a recent TikTok video from @andysdoggydaycare showed, these gentle giants will happily be near any human willing to give them attention, even if it oversteps boundaries. In a July 10 TikTok video, a doggy day-care worker stood in the middle of the room surrounded by pups, trying to give them all love and attention. Buckley, the Great Dane, started rubbing up against her for pets. Then he started to walk under her legs to ensure she scratched his entire back. However, he didn't calculate that his tall stature would prevent him from fitting. He proceeded anyway. Buckley's walk swept the employee off her feet; in the clip, the canine "doesn't realize" that his large body would catch her. Buckley took the woman for a quick ride around the room. Laughing the entire way, the employee couldn't believe what just happened. But, it didn't end there. Buckley managed to give her a ride a second time. He looked unfazed about the situation, gladly stepping into the role of a horse, as the caption called this day care a "rodeo show." Newsweek reached out to @andysdoggydaycare via TikTok for additional information and comment. Buckley the Great Dane is unaware of his size as he gives the doggy day-care employee a ride. The pups didn't want to get in the way of this horse ride. As it turns out, this is a common occurrence for Buckley. His owner posted in the comment section: "As Buckley's Dad, I can say that he does this as soon as you get home—it's his way of saying hello. He will also keep doing it until he throws you into a wall or takes you for a ride. I am also not tall." Viewer Reactions The TikTok video has amassed over 777,000 views, more than 141,300 likes and 273 comments. "The way he can just so casually do it has me in stitches," wrote one viewer. Another posted: "His name is Buckley 'cause you need to buckle up when around him." A third person commented: "Dog: I am taking you with ME!!"
