Lowestoft to Norwich trains disrupted after boat hits bridge
A railway line has been blocked after a boat collided with a swing-bridge and became incident happened at the Somerleyton crossing over the River Waveney on the Norfolk-Suffolk Anglia said train services between Lowestoft and Norwich would be cancelled, delayed or revised "until further notice".It added Network Rail staff were at the scene investigating and passengers could use their tickets on some local bus routes. "A limited number of rail replacement buses have been sourced to operate between Lowestoft and Norwich," Greater Anglia said on its website. Tickets were being accepted on buses, X2, X21 and X22, between Lowestoft and Norwich, as well as the X1 and X11 services between Lowestoft and Great Somerleyton swing bridge was built in 1905 and carries the double-tracked Norwich to Lowestoft railway line. Installation of footbridge at Stowmarket railway station delayed

"The installation will be followed by a short period of on-site testing, and the footbridge is now expected to open before the end of 2025."The new bridge will be built of stainless steel which is long lasting and does not need to be painted. The old footbridge at Stowmarket station was replaced with a temporary one in January, and the only way to cross platforms at Stowmarket station without it at present is via a level station was closed on 17 and 18 May as Network Rail completed maintenance on the track between Norwich and Anglia said it used this closure to complete further preparation works for the bridge while drainage installations were received funding for accessibility improvements at the station under the government's Access for All Anglia's infrastructure and major projects director, Andrew Goodrum, said "good progress" had been made on preparations for the bridge's installation. South Western Railway to be nationalised this weekend
The operator of one of Britain's busiest commuter services will become the first train company to be nationalised under the Labour government, the transport secretary has announced. South Western Railway, which provides services to and from Waterloo, will be taken into public ownership on Sunday. Two more commuter railway operators which provide services to London — C2C and Greater Anglia — will be the next to be nationalised. C2C will move into public hands on July 20, with Greater Anglia following on October 12. • Will nationalisation improve our trains? BLUES fans are being urged to plan their journeys to the Wembley Stadium next weekend ahead of suspected travel disruption as a key tube line is part closed. Southend United are preparing to face Oldham Athletic in the National League play-off-final at the Wembley on Sunday, June 1, after beating Forest Green Rovers 4-2 on penalties last night. However, there will be no service on the Metropolitan line between Aldgate and Harrow-on-the-Hill all weekend from Friday, May 30, meaning Shrimpers planning on travelling to Wembley Park from London Liverpool Street will need to find alternative routes. Amid the closure, here's some advice for fans planning on travelling to the final: The best station to access Wembley Stadium is Wembley Park, followed by Wembley Stadium, and Wembley Central. Wembley Park is the closest tube station, served by the Jubilee and Metropolitan lines. Wembley Stadium is on Chiltern Railways, and Wembley Central is on the Bakerloo and London Overground lines. To Wembley Stadium (2h 9m) Take the c2c at Southend Central or Greater Anglia at Southend Victoria, both towards London Liverpool Street. From London Liverpool Street take the Circle Line or the Hammersmith and City Line to Baker Street Underground Station. Change and take the Bakerloo Line to Marylebone Underground Station or walk to London Marylebone (approximately 10 minutes). From London Marylebone take the Chiltern Railway line to Wembley Stadium. To Wembley Central (2h 15m) Take the c2c at Southend Central or Greater Anglia at Southend Victoria, both towards London Liverpool Street. From London Liverpool Street take the Circle Line, the Hammersmith and City Line or the Metropolitan Line to Euston Square Underground Station. Train crashes into car on level crossing
A train crashed into a car on a level crossing between Colchester and Ipswich, Greater Anglia said. All train lines were blocked after the crash on Sunday afternoon, the rail operator said. Emergency services and Network Rail response teams were called to Station Road in Bentley. One person was assessed at the scene but no one was injured, a spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said. The train lines reopened on Sunday evening, but disruption was expected to continue until late into the evening. Greater Anglia posted on X saying: 'Due to a collision at a level crossing between Colchester and Ipswich, all lines are blocked. 'Train services running through these stations will be cancelled. Disruption is expected until further notice.' It later added: 'We have been made aware of a train hitting a car at a level crossing between Colchester and Ipswich. 'Emergency services and Network Rail response teams have been dispatched, as well as train engineers. 'We currently have no estimate for when the line will re-open until response teams arrive.' National Rail posted on X just after 8pm to say all lines had re-opened, but disruption was expected to last until at least 10pm. Routes between Colchester, Ipswich and Norwich have been affected. A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: 'One ambulance and the Basics critical care paramedic car was sent to Station Road Bentley this afternoon following reports of a vehicle struck by a train. 'One person was assessed at the scene, but no-one was injured in the incident.' A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: 'Officers were called to Bentley level crossing at 4.19pm today following reports that a train had hit a car. 'Thankfully, no one was injured and officers are now working to recover the vehicle and review the full circumstances of what happened.'
