Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, several union ministers and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. He flagged off four new Amrit Bharat trains between Rajendra Nagar (Patna) and New Delhi, Bapudham Motihari and Delhi (Anand Vihar terminal), Darbhanga and Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) and Malda Town and Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) via Bhagalpur. PM Modi also laid the foundation stones for multiple rail projects, including the development of infrastructure for maintenance of Vande Bharat trains at Patliputra, and automatic signalling on the Bhatni-Chhapra Gramin route (114 km) to enable streamlined train services. In a major boost to road infrastructure in the region, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the 4-laning of the Ara bypass of NH-319 that connects Ara-Mohania NH-319 and Patna-Buxar NH-922, providing seamless connectivity and reducing travel time. PM Modi also inaugurated the 4-lane Parariya to Mohania section of NH-319, worth over Rs 820 crore, part of NH-319, which connects Ara Town to NH-2 (Golden Quadrilateral) that would improve freight and passenger movement. Among others, a 2-lane with paved shoulders from Sarwan to Chakai of NH-333C was also launched to facilitate the movement of goods and people and act as a key link between Bihar and Jharkhand. PM Modi also released Rs 400 crore to around 61,500 self-help groups in Bihar under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM). The PM also handed over keys to some beneficiaries as a part of Griha Pravesh of 12,000 homeowners and released over Rs 160 crore to 40,000 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin. Motihari: Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off four new Amrit Bharat trains in Bihar's Motihari on Friday and also laid the foundation stone and inaugurated multiple development projects worth over Rs 7,200 crore. The Amrit Bharat will runs between Rajendra Nagar Terminal (Patna) and New Delhi, Bapudham Motihari and Delhi (Anand Vihar Terminal), Darbhanga and Lucknow (Gomti Nagar), and Malda Town and Lucknow (Gomti Nagar) via Bhagalpur. PM Modi also handed over keys to some beneficiaries as part of the Griha Pravesh ceremony for 12,000 beneficiaries and released over Rs 160 crore to 40,000 beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin. He also released Rs 400 crore to around 61,500 Self-Help Groups in Bihar under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM). With a special focus on women-led development, over 10 crore women have been connected to Self-Help Groups (SHGs). The visit by PM Modi comes ahead of the Assembly elections, which are set to be held in the state later this year. In line with his commitment to boost connectivity and infrastructure, PM Modi dedicated multiple rail projects to the nation. It includes automatic signalling between the Samastipur-Bachhwara rail line that will enable efficient train operations in this section. The doubling of the Darbhanga-Thalwara and Samastipur-Rambhadrapur rail lines is part of the Darbhanga-Samastipur doubling project, worth over Rs 580 crore, which will enhance the capacity of train operations and reduce delays. Another rail project includes the development of infrastructure for maintaining Vande Bharat trains at Patliputra. Automatic signalling on the Bhatni-Chhapra Gramin rail line (114 km) to enable streamlined train operations. Upgradation of the traction system in the Bhatni-Chhapra Gramin section to enable higher train speeds by strengthening the traction system infrastructure and optimising energy efficiency. The Darbhanga-Narkatiaganj rail line doubling project is worth approximately Rs 4,080 crore, aimed at increasing sectional capacity, enabling the operation of more passenger and freight trains, and strengthening connectivity between North Bihar and the rest of the country. The assembly elections in Bihar are expected to be held later this year, in October or November. However, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has not announced an official date. While the NDA, comprising the BJP, JD(U), and LJP, will once again seek to continue its stint in Bihar, the INDIA bloc, comprising the RJD, Congress, and left parties, will aim to unseat Nitish Kumar. In the current Bihar Assembly, comprising 243 members, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) consists of 131 members, with the BJP having 80 MLAs, JD(U) having 45, HAM(S) having 4, and the support of 2 Independent Candidates. The Opposition's INDIA Bloc comprises 111 members, with the RJD leading with 77 MLAs, followed by Congress with 19, CPI(ML) with 11, CPI(M) with 2, and CPI with 2.

Modi to launch projects worth Rs 12,000 cr in Bihar, Bengal tomorrow
New Delhi, July 17 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar and West Bengal tomorrow to launch and lay foundation stones for development projects worth over Rs 12,000 crore, the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said today. In Motihari in Bihar, the Prime Minister will launch projects worth Rs 7,200 crore across sectors, including railways, roads, rural development, fisheries, and IT while in Durgapur, West Bengal, projects worth over Rs 5,000 crore will be launched in oil and gas, power, road, and rail sectors. He will lay the foundation for rail line doubling, road widening, and rural infrastructure, including a major Rs 4,080 crore rail project between Darbhanga and Narkatiaganj, the PMO said in a statement here. He will also inaugurate highway projects like the Parariya-Mohania 4-lane stretch, and a 2-lane Sarwan-Chakai road, improving connectivity with Jharkhand while in Patna and Darbhanga, the Prime Minister will launch new STPI software parks and an IT incubation centre. He will also dedicate fisheries development projects under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. Four Amrit Bharat trains will be flagged off to Delhi and Lucknow from Bihar, and Rs 400 crore will be released to over 61,000 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the DAY-NRLM scheme. With a special focus on women-led development, over 10 crore women have been so far connected to Self-Help Groups (SHGs). Modi will also hand over keys to 12,000 PM Awas Yojana-Gramin beneficiaries as a part of Griha Pravesh and release over Rs 160 crore, as per the PMO. In Durgapur, West Bengal, the Prime Minister will unveil projects worth Rs 5,000 crore across oil and gas, energy, road, and rail sectors including the BPCL City Gas project in Bankura and Purulia (Rs 1,950 crore) and the Durgapur–Kolkata natural gas pipeline (Rs1,190 crore). Pollution control systems at two thermal power plants will also be inaugurated (Rs 1,457 crore). To boost rail connectivity, the Prime Minister will dedicate the doubling of the Purulia–Kotshila rail line worth over Rs 390 crore and inaugurate two road over bridges at Topsi and Pandabeshwar, built under the Setu Bharatam scheme. Four more Amrit Bharat trains and central funds for SHGs and housing beneficiaries will also be announced during the West Bengal leg of the visit. UNI AJ PRS
