Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein teaser trailer has fans demanding a theatre release: 'Only monsters play God'

It takes a lot, to confidently mount a remake of a genre-defining cult classic. But if the genre's horror, and the hands helming it belong to Guillermo del Toro, there really isn't much else to expect but excellence. And it looks like we're getting it by the tonne. The official teaser trailer of Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein was shared by Netflix yesterday, June 1. Now it doesn't really matter if you're acquainted, obsessed or (sadly) completely devoid of any knowledge when it comes to the complex universes crafted by Del Toro — this Frankenstein teaser trailer, is sure to raise the hair on your neck and have your heart thumping; but with excitement! So is it really THAT good? See for yourself. The teaser trailer being just over 2 minutes of absolute cinematic perfection, fans only had one complaint to air out — why isn't the film up for a proper theatrical release? Comments expressing the same read, "This really deserves a Theater Release", "I think we can all agree that this should be released in theaters. Guillermo's efforts deserve it", "Guillermo Del Toro is too good for Netflix. This needs a theater release asap!!!!!", "this definitely deserves a theater release... watching at home will never be the same no matter how much you spend on a tv and home theater" and "Guillermo del Toro is for theaters, not for netflix. All that man makes its art. Release it on theaters!!!" to quote a few. That aside, it's just a lot of resounding awe and applause around the internet. "And the Academy award for lighting goes to….. 💡", "It looks more like the novel , i'm glad 😌😍", "So excited to see what Guillermo has in store 🖤🤍⚡️" and "Hate remakes BUT 🔥 I'm excited!!" read a few comments. Frankenstein, written and directed by Guillermo del Toro and starring Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, with Charles Dance, and Christoph Waltz, is eyeing a November release.

Ask Engadget: How do I set up an Xbox for my kid?

Q: My question is how best to set up an Xbox for my kid. I want to know how to control use time and whether I should use my email to set up. – Guillermo from Utah A: You're in luck! Console parental controls have come a long way from the days of hiding NES systems (or their controllers) from unruly kids. Microsoft, in particular, has made it very easy through its Xbox Family Settings app for iOS and Android, which supports Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One systems. Once you've added your kids to your Xbox family group, you'll be able to manage and see reports of their playtime, restrict access to specific content, require parental approval for purchases and sort incoming friend requests. In typical Microsoft fashion, though, setting up Xbox family accounts can be a bit confusing, so let's go over it step by step. Turn on your Xbox and sign in with your Microsoft account. Press the Xbox button on your controller, and head to Profile & system > Settings > account > Family settings > Manage family members. Choose Add to family > Add new. Unfortunately, Microsoft requires an email address for new accounts. You can either entire your child's existing email if they have one, or choose the Get a new email option to create an Outlook email address. (This may seem a bit absurd for younger children, so if you don't want to create an email for your 6 year old, you may be better off just physically controlling access to consoles like the old days.) Next, you'll have to verify the addition of a new family group member. You can do so by either choosing This Xbox on the next screen and entering your Microsoft account details, or selecting Their phone/PC to have an email sent to you. In either case, you'll have to consent to the new member. In its documentation, Microsoft says "a child account is defined as any Microsoft account that's affiliated with an adult Microsoft account when the age of the child or teen is less than the age of majority for their country or region." These accounts are broken into "Child" and "Teen" categories, which specify age ranges between eight and 12, and 13 to 17. Microsoft notes there can be differences depending on location, like in South Korea where teen accounts range from 13 to 18. Devindra Hardawar for Engadget As useful as the Xbox Family app and child accounts may seem, they can also lead to problems while playing Minecraft, according to comments on Reddit. Reddit user "Microdad_" said they weren't able to gift a game to their child's account, they had to deal with a buggy website to allow them to play Minecraft and after all of that trouble their child still can't play in their realm. User "Electronic_Ocelot825" encountered similar issues, replying, "You are spot on. I go through same [sic] crap and it drives me to the point where I am furious.' Jimmy Kimmel's a grandpa after his '83-year-old' daughter gives birth

Now we know what it takes for Jimmy Kimmel to skip a night of work: One of his babies has to have a baby. Kimmel became a grandfather earlier this week when his oldest daughter gave birth to a girl. In his monologue Tuesday, he joked about his oldest daughter's age. "We were supposed to have a show last night, but we didn't because my daughter had a baby last night. People don't realize — people know I have two little kids," he said. "I also have two older kids. My oldest daughter, she's 83 years old, her name is Katie." So you can tell how serious he was being. Kimmel said it was only the second night, excluding planned vacations and the COVID-19 lockdowns, that he'd taken off in the show's 22-year history. Katie and Kevin Kimmel, 33 and 31, are Jimmy's kids from his 14-year marriage to Gina Kimmel, which ended in 2002. Read more: Decades after Carson left late night, his influence endures. Jimmy Kimmel and Jay Leno explain why Kimmel's kids from his marriage to writer Molly McNearney, whom he married in 2013, are Jane, 10, and Billy, 8. Billy was born with a heart condition that has been discussed regularly on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Katie wed Will Logsdon in 2021. As for Katie Kimmel's new baby, proud grandpa Jimmy said she's "very healthy." Then he went on to joke about her name, which he stated was Melania, then Melania Thee Stallion, then — in a phone call with his Aunt Chippy — Jo Mama, then Jo Mama Kevin Logsdon. It was after that last one that Aunt Chippy said, "She didn't name the baby that! You know, if you don't stop busting my b—, I swear to God when I die I'm going to come back and haunt you!" Kimmel then said the name was actually Brangelina, prompting Chippy to order him to hand the phone to his mother. Read more: Moo Deng is a worldwide phenomenon. How long can this global love affair last? The baby's actual name, though, is Patti Joan. "Joan" is in honor of Jimmy Kimmel's mom, Katie's paternal grandma. The talk-show host also started riffing on things he'd learned from his grandfathers and brainstorming things he would have to teach little Patti Joan. Things like shoplifting, skipping traffic by impersonating law enforcement and shooting out one's bottom dentures like a cash-register drawer. "You know WD-40?" Kimmel asked the studio audience. "You have to teach them about that." Sign up for Screen Gab, a free newsletter about the TV and movies everyone's talking about from the L.A. Times. Local Mexican restaurant working to raise money for late employee

SULLIVAN'S ISLAND (WCBD) –After the tragic drowning at Breach Inlet, a local Mexican restaurant is working to raise money to send their employee's remains back to his family in Mexico. Customers at Agave and Azul Mexicano locations in the Lowcountry can contribute to the restaurant group's efforts to send one of their employee's back home for a funeral. 'The response has been amazing. The community has really come together and done their part,' said Carlos Anthony, the Manager at Agave's Cantina in Mount Pleasant. Yoselin Lopez-Perez and Guillermo Quintero Camacho died hours apart after being pulled from the water at breach inlet last week. Guillermo was an employee at Azul Mexicano in downtown Charleston, and he often filled in at Agave's in Mount Pleasant. 'He left a good impression on the people, super nice guy, hardworking. We all have a relationship, we all connect,' said Anthony. The restaurants are fundraising to send his remains back to his family in Mexico, which could cost up to 10 thousand dollars. Carlos says Guillermo's body will be transported Wednesday and they are getting close to their fundraising goal. 'We're very impressed how the community reached out to us they came together, and everybody got to know the situation. It's sad but people have been helping a lot,' said Anthony. Breach Inlet is known for its deadly currents and while there is signage in the area, officials with the town of Sullivan's Island confirmed to news 2 they're in the process of adding more signage, including signage in Spanish to make sure the dangers are clear to everyone in area. Isle of Palms says their warning sign is bilingual, but they will continue to have conversations about additional signs in the future. You can donate to the GoFundMe here.
