Manchu Manoj reveals he missed out on 'Arjun Reddy'; hopes to work with Sandeep Reddy Vanga in future projects
Picture Credit: X Actor Manchu Manoj , who is making his comeback with the recently released film 'Bhairavam', opened up about some missed opportunities in his career. He revealed that he had the chance to star in the now-iconic Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial ' Arjun Reddy '. As per a Gulte report, during one of the promotional events of the film, Manoj revealed that back in 2013, Vanga had narrated the script of 'Arjun Reddy' to him. However, due to personal reasons at the time, he was unable to take up the project. Manoj expressed his regret for missing out on working with such a talented filmmaker and conveyed his hope to collaborate with Vanga in the future. The romantic action drama 'Arjun Reddy', which became a cult classic, was directed by debutant Vanga and catapulted Vijay Deverakonda to superstardom. The film was eventually released in 2017 and, despite initial criticism for its bold themes, such as its portrayal of toxic masculinity and violence, it went on to become one of Telugu cinema's most talked-about and influential films. The movie starred Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in lead roles, supported by a strong ensemble cast including Priyadarshi Pulikonda and Rahul Ramakrishna. Manchu's latest release 'Bhairavam' was released yesterday and it collected Rs 2.75 crore on its debut as per Sacnilk. Currently, Sandeep Reddy Vanga is working on his upcoming Prabhas starrer 'Spirit'. The film is described as a high-octane cop drama blending action, romance, and intense drama. Filming is expected to commence around September or October 2025, following Prabhas's completion of other projects like 'The Raja Saab' and 'Fauji'. He recalled how films like 'Om', 'A', and 'Upendra' had a profound impact on him, describing them as bold and groundbreaking works that left a lasting impression. The 'Pushpa' director said "I haven't seen any director with the kind of madness and frenzy that Upendra brings to his films. Om, A, and Upendra, these films blew me away. Honestly, if I had directed them, I would've happily retired. That's how iconic they are." Upendra's influence on Sukumar's screenwriting Sukumar also revealed that Upendra's films have deeply influenced his own screenwriting style. He openly admitted that much of the storytelling brilliance seen in his movies today draws inspiration from those cult classics. "Every director has taken inspiration from him. Whatever screenplay brilliance you notice in my films today is influenced by those three cult classics. I've shamelessly borrowed from him," he said. On the work front, Sukumar is currently busy with the pre-production of his next big project starring Ram Charan. This film marks a reunion for the director and actor after their blockbuster 'Rangasthalam'. On the other hand, Upendra was last seen in the sci-fi dystopian thriller 'UI' released in December 2024 and is gearing up for a high-profile role in the much-anticipated Tamil film 'Coolie'. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie stars the legendary Rajinikanth, and Upendra will be playing the character Kaleesha. This marks Upendra's return to Tamil cinema after a long gap since 'Satyam'.

Deepika Padukone To Be Replaced By THIS Actress In Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit?
Last Updated: Sandeep Reddy Vanga is reportedly in talks with a Kannada actress to replace Deepika Padukone. Sandeep Reddy Vanga has reportedly removed Deepika Padukone from the Prabhas-starrer, Spirit. As fans were anticipating Deepika Padukone's collaboration with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, many Telugu outlets claimed that she is no longer a part of the project due to clashes over her demands. Amid this, reports claim that Sandeep Reddy Vanga could cast Rukmini Vasanth as the female lead. According to Aakashvaani, Sapta Sagradaache Ello fame Rukmini Vasanth could replace Deepika Padukone in the film. Makers are reportedly in talks with Rukmini, and there is no official confirmation on this yet. This report comes after Deepika Padukone's alleged removal from the film. According to multiple Telugu outlets, including Gulte and Deepika allegedly requested an 8-hour workday, which reportedly translates to just about 6 hours of actual shoot time. Things escalated further when the actress is said to have demanded a hefty remuneration along with a percentage of the film's profits. Additionally, insiders claim she refused to deliver her dialogues in Telugu. The reports further add that Deepika was set to receive her biggest paycheck to date for Spirit, quoting an alleged Rs 20 crore fee. According to the reports, the Spirit is in the final scripting stage, and the shooting will start in October this year. The story of the Spirit is still under wraps, but according to Pinkvilla, Vanga is focusing on a high-octane action drama. As per Pinkvilla, Vagna worked for six months on the script to come up with a groundbreaking idea. Reportedly, Prabhas will undergo an intense physical transformation for the film. Sandeep Reddy Vanga has reportedly advised Prabhas to maintain a lean physique for the character. He will be playing a cop in the film. If everything works well, this action film, backed by the T-series and Bhadrakali Pictures, will be released on the big screens in 2027. First Published:

Has Deepika Padukone exited Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Prabhas-starrer, Spirit? The alleged reason may shock you
Arjun Reddy (2017) , Kabir Singh (2019) and Animal (2023) may have sparked nationwide debates with their respective releases, on the divide of responsible filmmaking — but Sandeep Reddy Vanga has sworn by the rugged, and pretty questionable trajectories of each of his three on-screen prodigies. The controversial director is currently in the process of mounting two passion projects — Animal Park, the sequel to his 2023 blockbuster Animal, with Ranbir Kapoor set to reprise his role as the lead; and the Prabhas-led Spirit. Now between the two, Animal Park has been hogging all the limelight owing to multiple theories floating about how its plot may or may not progress from the first. Spirit on the other hand, for better or worse, feels pretty under wraps considering all there is to go off of, is an announcement poster. Either which way, Deepika Padukone was brought on board for the film, to star opposite Prabhas, marking a reunion of sorts after the on-screen duo's much publicised Kalki 2898 AD camaraderie. Well, seems like fans of the good looking pair will have to hit pause on their dreams of seeing them together again. If reports from Telugu portals like Gulte are to be believed, Deepika may just have pulled herself out of Spirit. The reason? Pretty complicated. A TOI report elaborates how the new mother's expectations were to work 8 hours a day, 6 of them being shoot time. Supplement this with the fact that she reportedly asked for a fee of ₹20 crores, in addition to profit-sharing in the film and an alleged refusal to deliver her lines in Telugu, things were appearing tough in terms of moving forward. The same report also asserts that Sandeep is now on the look out for a new female lead for the film. It is worth mentioning here, that neither Deepika nor Sandeep have confirmed the news yet.
