HNEW arrests four, seizes drug injections worth Rs 1.28 lakh
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (HNEW) team and Chaderghat police conducted a joint operation and apprehended four persons involved in drug peddling, seizing 74 bottles of mephentermine sulphate injections worth Rs 1.28 lakhs. Police arrested local peddlers Mohd Imran Ali alias Kala Imran (32), a pan shop owner and rowdy sheeter of Chaderghat; Ranga Shanker Goud (65), owner of Chakrika Medical store; DharamkarRitesh Kumar (32), an employee at Apollo Pharmacy; and Dharamkar Mohit Kumar (31), a finance recovery agent. According to police, Imran, a drug peddler from Malakpet, was addicted to injecting mephentermine sulphate. He later became a peddler, procuring the injections from an inter-state peddler in Delhi and from local peddler Ritesh at cheaper rates, which he then sold for a higher price. YVS Sudheendra, DCP HNEW, said that Shanker, who runs a medical store, procured the mephentermine sulphate drug from Vaishnavi Drug House. He came into contact withRitesh when they both worked at Woodland Hospital. Imran approached Apollo Pharmacy for the injections and requested them at a higher price without a doctor's prescription. From then on, Imran began purchasing the injections from Ritesh and, when Ritesh was out of stock, he would buy them from Shanker. He would also get supplies from Ritesh's younger brother, Mohit, when Ritesh was unavailable. On August 16, the police apprehended them with the mephentermine sulphate injections. The HNEW requested the public to refrain from substance abuse and advised parents to keep a watch on their children's activities. Five held with cocaine, MDMA and marijuana in Hyderabad
A joint operation by the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) and Langer Houz police led to the arrest of a cocaine peddler and a consumer, caught with drugs and other property worth ₹3.95 lakh. The accused, Mohit Sanjay Mehra, 33, a businessman residing in Narsingi, Hyderabad, was found in possession of 15 grams of cocaine and two mobile phones. The consumer, Nagaram Jason Raj, 28, a private employee from Padmarao Nagar, Secunderabad, was also apprehended. An officer from the wing said that Mehra, originally from Mumbai and a B. Tech graduate in mechanical engineering, moved to Hyderabad in 2021. 'Following his divorce, he began frequenting pubs, developed the cocaine habit, and eventually started peddling to fund a lavish lifestyle. He allegedly sourced cocaine from a Mumbai supplier at ₹10,000 per gram and sold it in Hyderabad for ₹25,000 per gram,' said the officer. Mehra has been involved in cocaine peddling for the past five months, targeting customers in Hyderabad willing to pay higher prices. MDMA peddler nabbed In a separate case, the Madhura Nagar police arrested a 34-year-old private employee from Hyderabad allegedly peddling MDMA that he had sourced from Bengaluru. The accused, identified as Md. Rajak, was found in possession of 3.8 grams of the substance. An officer from the Madhura Nagar police said that Rajak had purchased the material in Bengaluru at ₹1,000 per gram and was selling it in the city for ₹5,000 per gram and that they had also tested him for drug consumption. Rajak had allegedly travelled from Bengaluru to Hyderabad by train, arriving at Kacheguda, before being apprehended at his residence. He lives with his mother, while his brothers, identified as Tanu Khan and Apu Khan, are known rowdy sheeters. Raid leads to seizure of 3 kg ganja In a different case, two drug peddlers Esli Parvesh, 26, and Sunny, 19, were arrested during a raid conducted by the State Task Force (STF) of the Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department on the Wednesday night. The officials seized three kilograms of dry ganja from the duo. Four other accused, identified as Munthaj, Esli Rajini, Esli Sai Raj, and Kali Lakan are currently absconding. Efforts are underway to trace them. The seized contraband and mobile phones have been handed over to the Balanagar police for further investigation.

Cocaine, ‘Meow Meow' drug seized in Hyderabad; 9 held
Hyderabad, Jul 23 (PTI) Nine people, including a software employee, involved in drug peddling were on Wednesday apprehended here in separate cases and 286 grams of cocaine, 100 gms of synthetic mephedrone, also known as 'Meow Meow' drug and 11 ecstasy pills were seized from them, police said. On credible information, the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) along with police teams conducted a joint operation and took four Mumbai-based interstate drug peddlers and one local peddler into custody. They also seized 276 grams of cocaine and eight mobile phones all worth Rs 69 lakh, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C V Anand told reporters. Two consumers were also detained in this connection. The accused procured cocaine from a foreign supplier who smuggled drugs into India through sea, delivered to sub-supplier (another foreigner) who then supplied it to the Mumbai-based peddlers and through a local peddler the drug was sold to consumers in Hyderabad, they said. In the second case, police teams apprehended a drug peddler in the Bollarum Police Station limits, who worked as a software employee and seized 10 grams cocaine and 11 ecstasy pills, all worth Rs 3.10 lakh. He procured cocaine from Bengaluru and Goa. In the third case, the HNEW team conducted an operation in the limits of Begum Bazar Police Station and nabbed two drug transporters and one local drug peddler, all natives of Rajasthan and seized 100 gram 'Meow-Meow' drug along with a country-made pistol, six live bullet rounds, all worth Rs 10 lakh. The accused had procured the 'Meow-Meow' drug from Rajasthan, police said. Separate cases under NDPS Act and Arms Act were registered. Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing gets Excellence in Anti-Narcotics Award
HYDERABAD: Commissioner of Police CV Anand, representing the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW), was honoured with the 'Excellence in Anti-Narcotics Award' at the World Police Summit (WPS) held in Dubai from May 13 to 16. The award, presented at a ceremony at the Dubai Police Officers Club, was conferred by the WPS Committee. The international recognition comes in acknowledgement of the proactive initiatives undertaken by the Hyderabad police to combat drug trafficking and substance abuse. These include rigorous enforcement measures, awareness programmes targeting students and the wider community, and sustained anti-narcotics efforts over the past three years within the city. Anand attributed the achievement to the dedication and teamwork of his department, expressing his gratitude to all personnel involved. Before the ceremony, Anand participated in a discussion addressing India's ongoing battle against narcotics, particularly in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.

City's top cop receives award at World Police summit in Dubai
Hyderabad: City Police Commissioner CV Anand who is also representing The HNEW- Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement wing was awarded the first position for 'Excellence in Anti-Narcotics Award' at the World Police Summit (WPS) 2025 organised by the Dubai police. This international recognition was bestowed upon him due to the proactive measures undertaken to curb drug trafficking and consumption in Hyderabad, awareness programmes conducted for drug control for students and public in the Hyderabad commissionerate limits, and the significant achievements made in this regard in the past three years. At the awards ceremony held at the Dubai Police Officers Club, UAE, from May 13 to 16, Anand received the award' from the WPS committee. Speaking on the occasion, he stated that prominent police officers from 138 countries participated in the International Police Summit-2025. He expressed immense happiness that the city police H-NEW had won the 'Excellence in Anti-Narcotics Award' after competing with highly efficient police forces from various continents. He acknowledged the hard work and dedication of his team members in achieving this prestigious award and extended his sincere gratitude to each of them. Anand emphasised that this achievement is a matter of great pride not only for the Telangana police, but for the entire police force of India. He attributed this recognition to the innovative work practices and comprehensive approach adopted by H-NEW in controlling narcotics. Twelve police officers and innovators from various law enforcement agencies of 12 countries were awarded the first prize in various categories of law enforcement. In a panel discussion preceding the awards function, Anand spoke about the issues of narcotics faced by India as a nation, especially after Covid, the ways narcotics are entering the country, the gangs and peddlers apprehended, the efforts to watch educational institutions through anti-drug committees and awareness campaigns, the rehabilitation measures.
