Eiichiro Oda answers the biggest One Piece questions: Key revelations from the creator
Source: Crun In a rare and insightful interview, One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda addressed some of the biggest unanswered questions in One Piece, sparking excitement across the anime community. From the origin of Luffy's Gear 5 powers to the true strength of Shanks and the mystery behind Blackbeard, Oda gave fans plenty to think about, without spoiling future arcs. These revelations, though subtle, offer important clues about the One Piece Final Saga, the Will of D, and the destiny of the Straw Hat Pirates. Here's a deep dive into everything Eiichiro Oda revealed in his latest One Piece interview. Eiichiro Oda answers the biggest One Piece mysteries fans have waited years for What is Luffy's Gear 5 in One Piece really? Source: Crunchy Oda revealed that Gear 5 Luffy is based on the concept of freedom and joy. Inspired by classic cartoons, this form allows Luffy to fight in unpredictable, reality-bending ways. It's meant to reflect ultimate freedom, not just strength, and was designed to be fun both narratively and visually. Why did Shanks give up his arm in One Piece? Source: Crun According to Oda, Shanks sacrificed his arm not because he was weak, but to make a statement to the new generation. He wanted to inspire Luffy by putting faith in him. The moment symbolised Shanks' belief that Luffy had the potential to change the world. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Treatment That Might Help You Against Knee Pain (Search Here) Kneepain | Search Search Now Undo What's the secret behind Zoro's lineage in One Piece? Source: Crun Oda confirmed Zoro is not related to Ryuma directly, but they share a deep symbolic connection through Wano. The resemblance and swordsmanship aren't coincidence but intentional parallels. This leaves room for more development, but fans shouldn't expect a 'hidden prince' twist for Zoro's backstory. How strong is Shanks' Haki in One Piece? Source: Crunch Oda hinted that Shanks' Haki is among the strongest in the world. He's a master of Conqueror's Haki and uses it to control situations without needing a Devil Fruit. His strength lies in technique and willpower, not flashy powers, making him a true Haki powerhouse. Is Sabo stronger than Ace in One Piece? Source: Crunchyroll Oda stated that while Ace and Sabo were both strong, Sabo is more strategic. With the Mera Mera no Mi and his experience in the Revolutionary Army, Sabo has grown into a formidable fighter, perhaps stronger than Ace ever was, especially in terms of control and maturity. Why did Blackbeard not sleep in One Piece? Source: Crunchyr Blackbeard's 'never sleeps' mystery is tied to his abnormal body. Oda didn't confirm the theory about him having multiple souls or bodies, but teased that his unique structure allows him to wield more than one Devil Fruit. The truth will be revealed during his final confrontation. Is Imu in One Piece human? Source: Youtube Oda declined to fully reveal Imu's identity, but confirmed they are ancient and possess secrets tied to the Void Century. While fans suspect Imu is inhuman or immortal, Oda insists the full truth will be a shocker, but not something completely outside human understanding. Will the Straw Hats have more crew in One Piece? Source: Crunchyroll When asked if more Straw Hats would join, Oda said the current crew is near-complete. However, temporary allies may travel with them. The focus now is on developing the existing crew as the story nears its climax, especially during the Final Saga. What's the deal with the 'D' clan in One Piece? Source: Crunvhyroll Oda remained cryptic about the Will of D, saying it will be fully explained soon. It represents a forgotten ideology that opposes oppression. The 'D' bearers are often fated to challenge the World Government's control, and their destiny ties into the Void Century. Why does Oda delay romances in One Piece? Source: Crunchyroll On romance in One Piece, Oda explained that he prioritises adventure over love stories. Luffy, in particular, isn't written as someone who thinks romantically. However, emotional connections like Sanji and Pudding or Robin and Franky are hinted at subtly, without becoming central to the plot. Eiichiro Oda's answers offer tantalising hints without spoiling the end of One Piece. As the Final Saga unfolds, these insights help fans piece together the mystery while keeping the thrill alive. Stay tuned as more revelations emerge in coming chapters! Also read | The Summer Hikaru Died episode 3: Deep dive recap and review of the chilling supernatural twist

One Piece Chapter 1152: Will Loki join the Straw Hats? Everything we know so far
One Piece Chapter 1152, 'A Horrible Day,' just hit like a cannonball in the Elbaph Arc, and fans can't stop talking about it. The big question on everyone's mind: Could Loki, the mysterious Prince of Elbaph, actually become the next Straw Hat? This chapter's packed with jaw-dropping moments, from Zoro's Haki reveal to Loki's tragic past, and it's got the fandom buzzing with theories. I've dug into the details, fan reactions, and all the hints Eiichiro Oda's dropped so far. Let's dive into what went down and whether Loki's got a spot on the Sunny. What's Going On in Chapter 1152? This chapter throws us deep into the chaos of Elbaph, with the Straw Hats and their giant allies gearing up for a showdown against Imu and the God's Knights. Loki, the giant prince with a massive 2.6 billion berry bounty, takes center stage, and Oda's peeling back layers of his story. We get a wild mix of action, lore, and those classic Luffy moments that make you laugh and cheer at the same time. Zoro gets a huge moment when Scopper Gaban, a grizzled veteran from the Red Hair Pirates, confirms he's got Conqueror's Haki. Fans have been calling this since Wano, but seeing it spelled out is electric. Luffy knew all along, but Zoro's been in the dark, and Gaban gives him a good-natured roasting to step up and master it. It's a big deal for Zoro's growth and hints at some epic fights coming up. Then there's Luffy, doing what he does best: making bold moves. He straight-up asks Loki to join the Straw Hats, hoping it'll convince Hajrudin to free him from his chains. It's such a Luffy thing to do, but it doesn't go over well. Zoro and Sanji raise their eyebrows, Hajrudin's not thrilled, and Loki himself shuts it down, saying he doesn't follow anyone. Still, Luffy's got that stubborn spark in his eye, and we all know he doesn't give up easily. The chapter also digs into Loki's past through some heavy flashbacks. We learn he was framed for killing his father, King Harald, 14 years ago. Turns out, Harald's own soldiers were the culprits, which flips the 'Accursed Prince' narrative on its head. Another flashback, set over a century ago, paints Harald as a destructive force, hinting at why Elbaph got tangled with the World Government. There's even a nod to Shanks and Gaban being in Elbaph during Harald's death, where they sensed a strange Haki and heard about a stolen legendary Devil Fruit. It's classic Oda, leaving us with more questions than answers. The stakes are high as the Straw Hats and New Giant Warrior Pirates prepare to face Imu's forces in the Sun World. Gaban warns that only the strongest Conqueror's Haki can take down the seemingly immortal God's Knights, setting up a battle that's gonna be nuts. Could Loki Join the Straw Hats? So, let's get to the heart of it: Is Loki about to become the tenth Straw Hat? There's a lot to unpack here, and the fandom's split right down the middle. On one hand, Loki feels like a perfect fit. Luffy's got this uncanny ability to see the good in people, and he's already saved Loki's life and shared his precious meat with him. That's Luffy's love language, and it's how he won over crewmates like Zoro and Robin. The fact that Loki's been wrongfully blamed for his dad's murder hits hard, too. It's the kind of tragic backstory that screams Straw Hat, reminding me of Robin's Ohara days or Franky's exile in Water 7. Plus, Loki's a powerhouse—rocking a mythical Devil Fruit, advanced Haki, and a giant-sized weapon called Ragnir. A giant on the crew would shake things up in the best way, adding a new dynamic alongside Chopper and Jinbe. Oda's been teasing Loki since Chapter 858, and with Luffy's dream of a ten-man crew, the timing feels right. Fans on X are eating it up, with some calling this chapter 'absolute gold' and betting Loki's arc is leading to a Sunny boarding pass. But then there's the other side. Loki's kind of a beast, maybe too much of one. His bounty outshines Zoro's, and his 'Sun God' title alongside Luffy's Nika feels like it could steal the spotlight. Some fans worry he'd throw off the crew's balance, making Luffy look less like the captain. Then there's the practical stuff—Zoro and Sanji joke about Loki's size and appetite, and yeah, fitting a giant on the Sunny sounds like a nightmare. More than that, Loki's fiercely independent. He straight-up says he's not here to follow anyone, which doesn't exactly vibe with being a crewmate. Posts on X point out he might be better as a heavy-hitting ally, like Vivi or the Grand Fleet, helping in the final war without signing up full-time. It's a tough call. Ahmedabad Plane Crash

One Piece: These devil fruits are even more powerful than haki
What might surprise you is that some Devil Fruits in One Piece are so OP, they even defeat the power of Haki itself. Here's why powers like Luffy's Nika fruit and others are OP greater than Haki. One Piece , the smash hit anime and manga series from creator Eiichiro Oda, is lauded all over the world for its zany powers, spectacular fights, and vast world ripe for adventure. In this world, most of our protagonists (and antagonists) acquire superhuman abilities through ingesting mystical fruits known as Devil Fruits, each of which can bestow abilities ranging from the fiery and fearsome to the absurdly humorous and everything in between. Over the years, an alternative power system known as Haki rose to prominence, particularly amongst the elite of the New World. Haki Haki, another kind of spiritual energy, lets characters do everything from sense unseen enemies to harden their bodies and overpower opponents with the force of their will. Today, it is regarded as the ultimate measure of might for pirate kings and warlords. Some Devil Fruits are just ridiculously overpowered to the point they can nullify the absolute top tiers of Haki, yes, the advanced ones, yes, even Conqueror's Haki. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Edema incomodando? Use isso antes de dormir e sinta a diferença. A arte do herbalismo Undo We're diving into the strongest Devil Fruits that you'll find in One Piece, taking Haki's inherent power out of the equation. Luffy's nika fruit – The most overpowered devil fruit in One Piece The Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika gives Luffy god-like powers Years went by, making the fans believe that the protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy, consumed the Gomu Gomu no Mi, a rubber-inspired Paramecia-type Devil Fruit. One of the greatest surprises in the Wano arc is that Luffy's power does not stem from the Gomu Gomu no Mi but from the Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, which is a Mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit that grants him the power of the "Sun God" Nika. Thanks to this magical fruit, Luffy has the ability to bend reality to cartoonish extremes. He can bounce projectiles back, swell to gigantic proportions, dash through the air, and even manipulate the very ground around him. His Gear 5 form makes him nearly impossible to kill. Even the most Haki-happy of users haven't shown abilities this chaotic or uncontrollable. With this power, Luffy was able to conquer Kaido, the man who claimed Haki was the strongest power there is. That goes a long way to indicate just how absolutely bonkers the Nika Fruit actually is. The quake-quake Fruit – The power to destroy the world Whitebeard's Gura Gura no Mi proves raw power can beat any Haki The Gura Gura no Mi, or Quake-Quake Fruit, which had formerly been wielded by Whitebeard, the world's strongest man. This Paramecia-type Devil Fruit is capable of generating colossal shockwaves that can devastate entire islands, part seas, and even tear the sky apart. In fact, during the Marineford War, this fruit was so feared that even the Navy Admirals and Sengoku felt that Whitebeard could destroy the entire world. Long after his passing, the fruit's strength continued to keep society safe until it fell into the wrong hands of the notorious Blackbeard who stole it and wreaked havoc instantly. Haki might let you defend against damage or psychically overpower your foes, but the sheer cataclysmic destructive power of the Gura Gura no Mi can bypass any defense. It's the max power physically possible. Kaido's dragon fruit – One of the strongest zoan fruits ever The Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu gave Kaido massive strength and flight Kaido, the Wano arc's main villain and the last major antagonist in this series' run, possessed one of the most varied and, arguably, overwhelmingly powerful Devil Fruits in the series, the Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu — a Mythical Zoan-type fruit which turned him into a massive dragon. This devil fruit allowed Kaido a wealth of powers, including but not limited to flight, fire breath, massive claws and even the ability to raise an entire island from the depths with flame clouds. He could even shift from dragon to human form in the middle of a fight, making him elusive and lethal. In the world of One Piece, even Kaido himself thought that Haki trumped Devil Fruits. Even with Advanced Armament, Observation, and Conqueror's Haki, Luffy still wasn't able to take him down until he unlocked the true powers of his own fruit. That's just how strong Kaido's Devil Fruit was. Could devil fruits be the real key to conquering the new world? Haki is extremely strong, but these Devil Fruits are something else entirely. In the world of One Piece, almost every single elite powerhouse uses Haki and a Devil Fruit. Some fruits are so unbalanced, they allow users to overpower even the toughest Haki users. Be it warping reality like Luffy, shaking the earth like Whitebeard, or becoming an incomprehensible force of nature like Kaido, these powers show that despite Haki's countering capabilities, Devil Fruits still have the upper hand in some situations. As much as Conqueror's Haki is the most feared power, the right Devil Fruit used correctly can win any fight. One Piece: The hidden powers of Portgas D. Ace finally explained
One Piece: The hidden powers of Portgas D. Ace finally explained One Piece, easily one of the most popular anime and manga franchises in the world, boasts a massive cast of powerful, interesting characters but few are as loved and tragic as Portgas D. Ace. Famed for his flame-manipulation ability and tragic demise, Ace stood out as more than just Luffy's big bro. He was perhaps the most talented pirate of his generation. What you probably didn't know is that Ace had concealed Haki powers that were hardly ever touched on in the series. We explain everything you need to know about Portgas D. Ace—his history, his powers, his mysterious Haki abilities, and why he was such a big threat to the World Government. Who was Portgas D. Ace in One Piece? Portgas D. Ace was the adopted older brother of One Piece's main protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy. He was the adopted son of Dr. Vegapunk, but more than that, he was the biological son of Gol D. Roger, the former Pirate King. Ace despised his bloodline and adopted his mother's name of Portgas in place of Roger. Ace grew up with Luffy and his other brother, Sabo under the care of Curly Dadan, a mountain bandit. Alongside him, Brook grew up with his childhood friend and adopted brother, swearing on one another's lives that they would inherit the title of pirates. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Trade Bitcoin & Ethereum – No Wallet Needed! Ace's story ends tragically with the Marineford arc, fighting to protect Luffy from Admiral Akainu Ace's death gives way to one of the hands down most emotional arcs in One Piece history—the Paramount War at Marineford. After being defeated in an epic showdown with the infamous pirate Blackbeard (Marshall D. Teach), Ace was convicted and turned over to the Marines for execution. The World Government didn't just want him dead because he was a pirate, they wanted him dead because he was known to carry the blood of Gol D. Roger. They were afraid Ace was going to have the potential to become the next Pirate King and upset the power dynamic. With the defeat of Luffy and the Whitebeard Pirates' tremendous Navy armada rescue attempt, it was still an astounding resurgence. Through their singing, laughter, and sheer determination, they were able to free Ace, only to have him killed within minutes by Admiral Akainu, who used his magma powers to end Ace's life while Ace was shielding Luffy from the punch. Portgas D. Ace's devil fruit the Mera Mera no Mi (flame-flame fruit) Ace was best known for having eaten the Mera Mera no Mi, a Logia-type Devil Fruit that allowed him complete control over fire. This freed him up to do the following: Transform his physical body into a flaming firebird. Fire through punches, attacks and combos Smolder enemies and bonfire hazards to a crisp Paint with 100-foot tall walls of fire and monstrous blows His most notable move was 'Hiken' ( Fire Fist), in which he released a massive fire punch capable of incinerating ships. Ace quickly learned to master his powerful Devil Fruit and became one of the most feared pirates across the seas. What many fans are unaware of is that he possessed Haki powers that made him far more dangerous. Ace's hidden Haki powers: Conqueror's, Armament, and Observation Most of Ace's Haki abilities were never explicitly displayed within the anime or manga, but they are solidified in One Piece lore, spin-offs, as well as creator commentary. 1. Conqueror's Haki (Haoshoku Haki) Ace unlocked this rarest form of Haki as a little kid. We saw him use it when rescuing his mentor Dadan during the Grey Terminal fire. This rare type of Haki gives the user a chance to assert their will over the will of others, defeating major foes with powerful will instantly, or even knocking out weaker enemies in an instant. In fact, not even all of the strongest characters in One Piece, such as Luffy and Shanks, are able to wield this power. 2. Armament Haki (Busoshoku Haki) Ace discovered Armament Haki during his time on Sabaody Archipelago. At first, Ace had a hard time since Draw's Haki is capable of harming his Logia form. During the battle Ace had unlocked his own Armament Haki and neutralized the Marine. It was this battle that demonstrated that Ace was a quick study and combat genius. He subsequently went on to use this same Haki in combat against other top-tier fighters such as Jinbe, Whitebeard, and even Admiral Aokiji (Kuzan). 3. Observation Haki (Kenbunshoku Haki) It is stated that Ace possessed Observation Haki as well. This gave him the ability to anticipate enemy movements and attacks. He probably created it after facing the Grand Line/New World, where 90% of high-level pirates have this ability. Ace's battles: From Jinbe to Yamato and Aokiji Ace fought some heavy hitters in his run, too: Jinbe: The fight they put up was fierce. Ace even overpowered Jinbe's Armament Haki with just his flames. The match concluded with a draw. After being defeated by Whitebeard, Ace eventually joined his crew and became one of the strongest commanders of Whitebeard's fleet. During the Wano arc, Ace challenged Yamato, the daughter of Kaido. Yamato had Conqueror's Haki, but Ace didn't lose to her. Sadly, this fight also ended in a draw. Aokiji (Kuzan) During the Paramount War, Ace fought Admiralty in the ice covered captain and held his own on the battlefield-masterfully. Ace was incredibly important to non-straight fans—the character who wasn't just Luffy's brother. More than being an embodiment of inherited will, the concept that the dreams of those who came before us continue to within the following generation, Kofi was an avatar of these ideals. Even Sengoku, the former Fleet Admiral of the Marines, admitted that Ace could do the same one day, like his father, Portgas D. If he had lived, Ace would have acquired a bounty exceeding 5 billion berries and would have started a rebellion against the World Government. The real story behind Ace's parents, Roger and Rouge Ace's father, as we learned back in the first manga chapters and anime episodes, was Gol D. Roger, the only pirate to ever get to Laugh Tale and discover the fabled One Piece treasure. His mother was Portgas D. Rouge, a very kind and brave woman from Baterilla in the South Blue. To ensure Ace would not be killed by the Government, Rouge kept him in her womb for 20 months, keeping his birth secret until Roger was dead for 20 years. She died immediately after giving birth, and Garp, a Marine legend himself, took Ace and entrusted Dadan to raise him. Ace never met his parents, but grew up believing that the world found him unlovable simply because of the blood that ran through his veins. That pain may have made him strong, it set in motion the chain of events which led to his tragic, untimely death. Ace's legacy still burns bright Though he died years ago, Portgas D. Ace's story continues to be written in the hearts of One Piece fans across the globe. He was not only brave, loyal, and powerful. He was probably more powerful than people knew. His secret Haki, god-tier fire abilities and destiny to become the next Pirate King have him as one of the most underappreciated badasses in anime history. If he had lived, the tale of Oda's One Piece would probably be headed in a very different direction. Ace decided to take the fall for his brother and while doing so, surely ignited a spark that hasn't cooled since.
