Legal Storm Intensifies Around BJ Penn, New Developments Emerge: Report
Legal Storm Intensifies Around BJ Penn, New Developments Emerge: Report originally appeared on Athlon Sports. BJ Penn's legacy as a UFC Hall of Famer has entered a new phase, as recent reports shed light on developments outside the cage. Known for his accomplishments in both the lightweight and welterweight divisions, Penn now finds himself under increased public scrutiny as legal proceedings continue. Over the past several years, various incidents have drawn attention, and recent reports have added more context to his situation. Advertisement In a recent report published by Hawaii Tribune-Herald, new details surfaced regarding Penn's absence from a scheduled court hearing connected to a domestic abuse case. A widely shared post online stated, 'In a surprising turn of events, UFC Hall of Famer BJ Penn skips his scheduled court appearance in a domestic abuse case following multiple arrests over Memorial Day weekend. The fallout continues to unfold as his legal troubles raise eyebrows.' This latest update has brought renewed focus to Penn's legal history. More recently, Penn has drawn headlines after publishing a series of alarming social media posts claiming that close family members—including his mother and brothers—had been replaced by imposters. His mother, Lorraine Shin, responded by filing a restraining order, citing emotional distress and extreme psychological abuse. Court filings also referenced Capgras delusional syndrome, a rare disorder marked by the belief that loved ones have been replaced. Around the same time, Penn was arrested twice over Memorial Day weekend on family abuse charges, following incidents involving his mother and a violation of a prior warning citation. These details were first reported by Kauai Now News, a local Hawaii-based news outlet covering legal and community issues. Each of these developments has contributed to ongoing public interest and raised concerns about his well-being. BJ Penn As of now, Penn has not publicly addressed the most recent court-related development. The situation remains ongoing, with further updates expected as proceedings move forward. NBA Legend Urges Celtics to Make Kristaps Porzingis Decision
NBA Legend Urges Celtics to Make Kristaps Porzingis Decision originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Boston Celtics are currently in a transition period. Even before Jayson Tatum tore his Achilles, everyone could guess their offseason plans were primarily about cutting costs this offseason. Advertisement The Celtics have been above the NBA's second tax apron for two straight years and want to avoid being above it for a third because that could lead to frozen draft assets. Hence, players like Kristaps Porzingis may be traded to another team. However, when Porzingis is fully healthy, he brings the Celtics to another level, which factored into their winning their 18th title as a franchise. The sad reality is that he is a health risk on top of being expensive. That's why he gets constantly mentioned among players most likely to be traded this summer. Boston Celtics star Kristaps Porzingis© Eric Canha-Imagn Images One Celtics legend believes the team should go the opposite direction. Basketball Hall-of-Famer and Celtics legend Kevin Garnett explained on "KG Certified" why Boston should keep Porzingis next season. Advertisement 'Man, you got to bring Porzingis back,' Garnett said. 'Porzingis makes it all unguardable. When Porzingis is in there and everybody is healthy, this year they weren't healthy at all.' The Celtics could look into trading other players to save money, like Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, and Derrick White. What makes Porzingis especially appealing, besides being a health risk, is that his contract is expiring, which trade partners will find palatable to acquire. The Celtics' big man will make $30.7 million for the 2025-26 season, which could appeal to teams trying to save long-term money. Boston might agree to take longer contracts if it helps them get under the second tax apron. Aaron Rodgers 'has not affirmatively' told the Steelers he's signing
Aaron Rodgers is an expert in playing the waiting game. The headline-making quarterback possesses the remarkable talent of making news, whether he speaks or not. In fact, Rodgers is generating more interest this offseason because of his silence rather than anything else. Advertisement That remains a constant theme for the four-time NFL MVP, who hasn't been known for his play on the field in recent years, but rather everything that comes with the experience off it. It was believed Rodgers would sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers after the New York Jets released the future Hall of Fame signal caller. As the clock continues to tick, it's anyone's guess whether he plays for Pittsburgh or announces his retirement. During an appearance on "The Rich Eisen Show" on Friday, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero spoke about Rodgers' immediate NFL future and why there is still a good bit of uncertainty. "I have been told that he has not affirmatively told the Steelers that he's coming," Pelissero said. "There's all these signs that he's coming, but he's not affirmatively said, 'Hey, June 9, book me the ticket, I'm coming in and I'm gonna join this team.' That has not happened as of this point." Advertisement Pelissero added that the Steelers are operating under the assumption that Rodgers will eventually sign, but he pondered the idea that the quarterback could change his mind given his unique nature. Options have dried up on the open market for Pittsburgh, who put all their eggs in the Rodgers basket this offseason. Russell Wilson left to sign with the New York Giants and Justin Fields inked a deal with the Jets, essentially emptying their quarterback room from last season. Kirk Cousins figures to be the other potential option, but the insider pointed out that the price for the Atlanta Falcons' backup remains too high and that the Steelers are committed to the idea of Rodgers right now. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said on Saturday that the Steelers are just hanging around right now. Advertisement "When I talk to people with the team they say the same thing, that they have had contact with Aaron Rodgers," Fowler said. "They've remained optimistic that he will be a Steeler, but there is just nothing fast and firm yet on him signing with the team. So they continue to develop Mason Rudolph and Will Howard in OTAs." Fowler noted that the situation has been unpredictable. Steelers' mandatory minicamp is slated for June 10-12, leaving little margin for any bumps in the road going forward. Rodgers previously visited the Steelers' facility, but has offered little certainty surrounding the situation in his few public appearances. Advertisement He said on "The Pat McAfee Show" in April that retirement was still a possibility and that he was dealing with some personal things behind the scenes. Rodgers also made an appearance on "The Joe Rogan Experience" but didn't discuss anything football related. More recently, he offered up some information on the 'You Know What I Mean' podcast, saying he wouldn't play for the Chicago Bears, but there is a team that makes a trip to the Windy City next season. As the season quickly approaches and the offseason begins to fade, the Steelers are stuck in a holding pattern. After all, only Rodgers knows what will happen and what his future holds.
