Premier League trio join Leipzig in pursuit of Selke

With contract talks between Davie Selke and Hamburger SV over a new deal beyond the summer having stalled, a free transfer appears increasingly likely for the 30-year-old striker. Recent reports have linked RB Leipzig with a move to bring Selke back to the club, where he played between 2015 and 2017 - but, apparently, they are not alone in their interest. Advertisement According to the Daily Express, three Premier League clubs - West Ham United, Fulham FC, and newly-promoted Leeds United - are also keen on signing the free agent. Despite the interest from England, RB Leipzig are still believed to be in pole position to land the striker, who has spent his entire career in Germany. Selke was the top scorer in the 2. Bundesliga last season, scoring 22 goals.

Hamburger SV announce first summer signing

Newly-promoted Bundesliga side Hamburger SV have completed the signing of Nicolai Remberg from Holstein Kiel. HSV reportedly activated a €2.4 million release clause in the midfielder's contract with Kiel. The length of Remberg's deal with Hamburg has not been disclosed. Advertisement "Nicolai has steadily improved in recent years thanks to his strong work ethic and willingness to learn, consistently working his way up," said HSV director of sport Stefan Kuntz. "His physical presence and resilience under pressure will benefit our squad and our style of play." Remberg is eager to get started at his new club. "I want to contribute my strengths to the team, show my robustness, and win a lot of duels for the team," said the 24-year-old midfielder. "It's something special for me to play for HSV. In my talks with the club officials, it was made very clear what role I can play here and what path I can take personally and with the team — and I'm incredibly excited about that. I'm ready!"

Many Hamburger SV fans seriously injured in Bundesliga promotion celebrations

HAMBURG, Germany (AP) — One Hamburger SV fan suffered 'life-threatening injuries' and 19 more were seriously injured in celebrations after the team's return to the Bundesliga, local fire services said Sunday. The Hamburg Fire Department launched what it called a 'major emergency response' to contend with Hamburg fans celebrating promotion on Saturday, when thousands of supporters stormed the field. Some 44 supporters needed medical treatment, including 25 who were taken to local hospitals, of whom five had just minor injuries. Hamburg clinched its long-awaited return to the top division with a 6-1 rout of Ulm, ensuring it will finish among the top two in Germany's second division and automatic promotion to the Bundesliga. Hamburg endured six seasons of just missing out on promotion since its demotion from the top division before success at the seventh attempt. The club was previously known as 'der Dino' because it was the last surviving member of the Bundesliga to have played every season since its formation in 1963. But it was finally relegated in 2018 after several close calls. ___ AP soccer:
