Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU), under the leadership of His Excellency the Chancellor, Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, held its Mid-Cycle Strategic Progress Review Meeting to present key developments and evaluate the University's performance for the first half of 2025. The meeting served as a platform to assess progress against the 2024–2026 Strategic Framework, with detailed presentations from the Vice Chancellors on financial performance and outcomes of ongoing strategic initiatives. The session reflected HBMSU's commitment to institutional accountability, structured evaluation, and continuous improvement. The meeting included a dedicated segment in which His Excellency the Chancellor shared his reflections on the strategic importance of performance evaluation and the pivotal role of leadership in advancing institutional excellence. The meeting also acknowledged selected faculty and staff members for their contributions to key initiatives during the period. In particular, the University recognized Maitha Al Teneiji, Vice Chancellor for Artificial Intelligence and Technology, for completing an executive certificate at MIT, reinforcing HBMSU's focus on international excellence and leadership development. The gathering reaffirmed HBMSU's strategic direction and its role in advancing smart education in alignment with national priorities.

Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) has announced the launch of the College of Sustainability and Green Economy, following official accreditation from the Commission for Academic Accreditation in the United Arab Emirates. This milestone reflects the University's ongoing commitment to supporting the nation's efforts to achieve sustainable development and build a green, knowledge-based economy. In its initial phase, the new college will offer a Bachelor of Science in Sustainability and Green Economy and a Master's in Environmental Management and Sustainability. Both programs are designed in alignment with international best practices to equip learners with applied knowledge and specialized skills in environmental policy, resource management, and green technologies—leveraging HBMSU's advanced smart learning ecosystem. Commenting on the occasion, H.E. Professor Ahmed Ankit, Acting Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, said: 'The launch of the College of Sustainability and Green Economy reflects HBMSU's forward-thinking vision to deliver specialized, high-quality education that addresses both national and global challenges. It empowers national talents to lead the transition toward a sustainable, knowledge-based economy. As part of the Sixth Conference of University Presidents, organized by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization ICESCO in Rabat, H.E. Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Chancellor of Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU), chaired a high-level panel session titled: 'Redefining University Leadership for the Future', with the participation of a distinguished group of university presidents from various member states of the Islamic World Organization. The session focused on discussing the fundamental transformations which are reshaping higher education globally, and the evolving role that university leadership must adopt in response to rapid changes related to technology, artificial intelligence, flexible education, and the shifting nature of the labor market. In his opening remarks, H.E. Dr. Mansoor Al Awar emphasized that: 'University leadership is no longer confined to traditional academic management. It has become a forward-looking responsibility that demands innovative thinking, the ability to build partnerships, and the foresight to anticipate change, in order to ensure the sustainability and impact of universities in serving humanity and society.' The session addressed three key themes: The transformation of the university president's role from academic leadership to proactive, system-oriented leadership. Effective partnerships and governance as tools to strengthen trust and community impact. Designing new leadership models built on flexibility, collaboration, and future-oriented outcomes.
