FORMER U'S: Striker signs two-year deal with League One newcomers

FORMER Colchester United striker Brandon Hanlan has joined League One newcomers Doncaster Rovers. The 28-year-old has signed for the reigning League Two champions on a two-year deal, following his exit from Wycombe Wanderers after four years at Adams Park. Advertisement Hanlan told the Doncaster website: "For me it is about being somewhere that you're wanted. 'Speaking to the manager about the way he plays and wants to play and for myself it's about being in a team that creates chances and do well. 'The gaffer has had nothing but good things to say about myself but also the club and the players so at the end of the day it was a no-brainer for me.' Hanlan made 20 league and cup appearances for Colchester after joining them on loan from Charlton, in the 2017-18 season. The forward, who has recently been on loan at Stevenage, scored twice in his first three appearances for the U's but failed to net after that and then struggled to claim a place in John McGreal's starting line-up. Advertisement Hanlan has since gone on to make nearly 250 appearances at League One level, scoring 48 times in those matches. Former Colchester United attacker signs for Scottish club Doncaster boss Grant McCann told the club's website: 'He's someone who has annoyed me whenever I've come up against him. 'Brandon brings his energy, his pressing, his aggression. 'Our front three has to run and work. They start every line of defence for us in terms of what they do. 'Brandon brings that first and foremost and now it's up to us to get him into goalscoring positions. "We create chances, this team will create chances for Brandon and we need to get him between the posts to take them.'
