WA man who sprayed hot chilli into crowd of Bunnings shoppers jailed
A mine site chef and father-of-three who sprayed a hot chilli concoction known as 'Satan's Spit' into a crowd of shoppers at Bunnings in Northam, east of Perth, has been jailed over the incident. Paul Andrew Hart, 52, admitted to taking the chilli spray to the Bunnings store when he attended with a friend and his son on the Anzac Day public holiday last year. He later told police he was intending to disperse fart spray as a joke but mistakenly picked up Satan's Spit instead, which caused burning eyes, noses and sore throats to 15 people, 11 of whom required treatment in hospital for their injuries. Two victims were children. Satan's Spit is used on food and comes with an extreme heat warning, and is described as: 'One of our hottest (and more dangerous) products, please handle with care!' 'Spray with caution as it can get travel through the air and get in eyes. You've been warned.' The court was told at the time of the incident, shoppers were unaware of what they had been sprayed with so they were made to strip outside of hospital and forced to take decontamination showers. Bunnings closed its doors for the day, causing a loss of $16,000 in income, while also paying thousands of dollars to eight affected employees in workers' compensation claims. Victims were also forced to pay thousands for ambulances to the nearby hospital. On Tuesday, Hart was sentenced over the prank with Perth District Court Judge Felicity Zempilas telling him she did not accept the claim he thought he had innocuous fart spray in his pocket and not Satan's Spit as he was seen on CCTV repeatedly looking at the product.

Holocaust Centre Of New Zealand Signs Historic Accord Between Jewish And Muslim Communities
The Holocaust Centre of New Zealand today became a signatory to a historic accord between the Jewish and Muslim communities of Aotearoa New Zealand – the New Zealand Harmony Accord. The signing represents a commitment to peace, mutual respect, and the rejection of all forms of hatred and extremism. In a world increasingly marked by division and intolerance, this accord is a demonstration of our determination to keep dialogue alive — even when that dialogue is difficult. 'We owe it to our communities, and to future generations, to do the hard work of listening, understanding, and standing together against all forms of hate, including antisemitism and Islamophobia,' said Deborah Hart, Chair of the Holocaust Centre of New Zealand. 'At a time of heightened tensions and a huge increase in antisemitism, we know that peaceful coexistence isn't always easy, but it is always worth striving for' The accord is a call to action — a commitment to engage across communities and support each other in the face of antisemitism, Islamophobia, racism, and bigotry. 'As an organisation founded on the lessons of the Holocaust, we know where hate can lead,' Hart continued. 'Our mission has always been to educate, to remember, and to act —today is another expression of that mission in action.' The Holocaust Centre acknowledges and thanks the New Zealand Jewish Council for its leadership in bringing this accord to life, and the Muslim community leaders who contributed to its development as well, under the aegis of the Ministry for Ethnic Communities. As ever, the Holocaust Centre of New Zealand continues to draw on the lessons of the Holocaust to challenge antisemitism and all expressions of hate, and to foster a more respectful, inclusive, and peaceful Aotearoa.

Cup from 1909 returned to club
Oamaru Jockey Club president Nigel Rooney holds the 1909 Oamaru Cup returned to the club on the 150th anniversary of its cup day meeting in Oamaru yesterday. PHOTO: NIC DUFF Back where it belongs — the original 1909 Oamaru Cup was yesterday returned to the Oamaru Jockey Club at its 150th anniversary of its cup day meeting in the North Otago town. It was first won by JR Hart riding Chief Lochiel 116 years ago and remained in the Hart family for three generations. Hart"s great granddaughter flew down from Wellington to give the cup back to the club, president Nigel Rooney said. "To come back to us well after 100 years, I mean holy hell. "A bit of racing history coming back to Oamaru. It"s impressive, I love it." He said Mr Hart was paid 30 guineas for his win which "would've been quite a bit of money in its day, I"d imagine". The other Oamaru Cup the club has was first contested in 1929. While it has been engraved with the winners each year, the cup stays with the club and the winners are presented with their own version to keep. "This one [from 1909] has sort of trumped it a wee bit, being a bit older," Rooney said. Yesterday"s race day was also the 150th anniversary of the club. While it has had "all sorts of different names" throughout the years, the first recorded race of the Oamaru Jockey Club was in 1875. "It"s come and it"s gone at times and had a few changes in names," Rooney said. "We"ve had a checkered past. We"ve looked like at times that we wouldn"t be able to continue racing and to make it to 150. It"s huge for a little old town like Oamaru. Looking forward to the next 150."

Knicks Star Speaks Out With Strong Paul Skenes Trade Demand
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. It's not very often that NBA players make their thoughts on baseball known. For New York Knicks star Josh Hart, that was exactly what happened recently. Hart, who has become a key player for the Knicks over the last couple of years, recently took to social media to share his thoughts on Pittsburgh Pirates superstar pitcher Paul Skenes. Skenes, who has become one of the most popular players in baseball, has been elite once again this season. However, his team has not done much winning. Regardless of his elite performances, he simply can't seem to pick up wins. Skenes had recorded a 1.20 ERA in July, but hadn't picked up a win in a game since May. That did not sit well with Hart. He posted and made it clear that he would like to see Skenes get traded by the Pirates. "For the love of God," Hart wrote. "This is make the MLB force a trade." Obviously, his post comes just ahead of the MLB trade deadline on July 31. Skenes is extremely unlikely to be moved, but Hart would like to see it. Speaking of Hart and his basketball team, New York is coming off of a tough loss in the Eastern Conference Finals to the Indiana Pacers. The Knicks have made a couple of nice moves this offseason as they look to take the final step into the NBA Finals. Both players will have a chance to carve out roles for the Knicks. A new head coach was also hired by New York. Following the decision to part ways with Tom Thibodeau, the Knicks brought in Mike Brown to replace him. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for both Hart and Skenes. More than likely, the superstar pitcher will not be traded, but Hart is holding out hope for a change of scenery for him.
