Peppa Pig is a big sister again, as the family welcomes its latest member Evie. Watch
Since it aired on television sets all across the world for the first time, Peppa Pig has taken the world by storm and has been loved by kids and has transcended language and nationalities. In an exciting announcement, Hasbro Entertainment and Karrot Animation revealed that Peppa's family has just expanded with the arrival of her newborn sister Evie. In an exclusive interview with People magazine, the character of Mummy Pig shared her experience of giving birth to her third child. The beloved character of Mummy Pig expressed her delight with the birth of Evie and the team said in a statement, 'I'm so thrilled Evie is finally here, happy and healthy! I won't say it was an easy birth, because I'm not sure such a thing exists. But it was all worth it once she was snug and safe in my arms, and the family got to meet her properly.' She admitted that naming Evie was quite a task, but they decided to name her after Mummy Pig's great aunt Evie. A post shared by Peppa Pig (@officialpeppa) ALSO READ: Fake or real? She's just as curious and excitable as Peppa and as playful and funny as George,' she says. 'They're already quite the little trio! Just like Peppa, Evie loves music — no matter what is playing, she'll jiggle and giggle along.' Media publication Daily Mail pointed out that Evie was born in the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital, where the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, gave birth to all her three children. Mummy Pig added that they have been flooded by well-wishers, and she is really appreciative of such an overwhelming reaction. 'We are so lucky to have a wonderful network of family and friends to help us,' she shares. For the uninitiated, Dungeons & Dragons is a game in which players create their own characters and embark on a quest overseen by a chosen Dungeon Master. The game has been played on TV by many characters over the years, including the kids of Stranger Things, making Netflix the logical home for a live-action series. Ready for more of today's newsy nuggets? Yes, Chef! premieres Monday, April 28 at 10/9c after The Voice. * Four more actors have joined Prime Video's Jack Ryan movie: Max Beesley, Douglas Hodge, JJ Feild and Betty Gabriel. Magic: The Gathering lands deal for film and TV adaptions with Legendary Entertainment
Hasbro Entertainment and Legendary Entertainment have joined forces to bring Magic: The Gathering to the big and small screens. The pair have signed a licensing deal to create "a live-action feature film and television universe" inspired by the card game. First up will be a movie, with other media to follow, but that's all that's been revealed so far. Longtime MTG fans might feel skeptical about this announcement, because this isn't the first time the intellectual property has been promised some kind of film or television adaptation. The card game's Fandom wiki page lists many of the proposed movie projects over the years. First up was a plan for multiple movies with Universal all the way back in 2008, which never yielded anything. Then Hasbro made an attempt at a movie with Twentieth Century Fox in 2014, but that was also never heard from again. Netflix has also been attached to two different rumored Magic projects, but it seems like the streamer's animated TV series might really come to pass, with a post on Tudum from September 2024 promising that it's really happening and in production. Legendary Entertainment has had several projects drawing on geek culture, usually bringing a big budget and a dark edge to their work. Most recently the studio worked on Dune and Dune: Part Two, and it also was involved in Christopher Nolan's take on Batman in The Dark Knight movies as well as the Warcraft movie. MTG has a lot of lore to draw on, so there's plenty of fodder for a cinematic universe. Here's hoping the producers and talent have the understanding to turn all that potential into a good movie.

"Magic: The Gathering" Movie and TV Universe in Development from Legendary, Hasbro
'Magic: The Gathering,' the trading card game played around the globe since 1993, is set for major film and TV adaptations from Legendary Entertainment and Hasbro Entertainment. The toy maker and the Hollywood mini-major behind the 'Godzilla' and 'Dune' franchises will create 'a live-action feature film and television universe' based on the fantasy series, with an inaugural feature film first on deck. Hasbro estimates the strategy tournament represents a $1 billion piece of intellectual property, thanks to over 50 million players engaging with its fantastic worlds. Legendary has a proven track record in this space. Including its work with the so-called 'monsterverse' of Godzilla and King Kong, the company has also launched content around Pokémon ('Detective Pikachu'), Minecraft and the 'Enola Holmes' franchise. The studio's upcoming projects include an anticipated take on the world of classic video game 'Street Fighter' and a live action-animation hybrid film 'Animal Friends' starring Ryan Reynolds, Jason Momoa, Aubrey Plaza and Dan Levy. At Hasbro, development properties include the Sony TriStar Pictures and Sony Pictures Television adaptations of the iconic board game 'Clue'; a film based on Monopoly from Margot Robbie's LuckyChap and a 'Magic: The Gathering' animated series already in the works at Netflix.
