UNDP Executive Board Endorses Bahrain's Country Programme for 2025-2029
Manama: The Executive Board of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has endorsed the Country Programme Document (CPD) for the Kingdom of Bahrain for 2025 – 2029, reaffirming the strong partnership with the Kingdom.
According to Bahrain News Agency, the CPD serves as a strategic framework that aligns UNDP's work with Bahrain's national development priorities, outlined in the Kingdom's Economic Vision 2030 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, which was signed in December 2024. The new CPD focuses on improving prosperity and sustainability through diversified, inclusive, and private-sector-driven growth and strengthening governance systems, the rule of law, human rights, and civic engagement.
'The CPD for the Kingdom of Bahrain is an essential milestone towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and fostering inclusive and sustainable growth in the Kingdom,' said Asmaa Shalabi, UNDP Resident Representative in Bahrain. 'The CPD will guide UNDP's efforts in Bahrain over the next five years, ensuring impactful interventions in support of national development priorities while promoting innovation, digitalisation, and gender equality as cross-cutting themes.'
For his part, Hatem Abdulhameed Hatem, Chief of the Organisations Sector at Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated, 'The United Nations Development Programme has a constructive role through the technical support it provides to all national development initiatives.' He reaffirmed Bahrain's commitment to strengthening cooperation with the United Nations, its offices, and specialised agencies.
